Last year we got Massive Attack, Daft Punk, Kanye and Madonna added after the initial lineup. So let the guessing begin!

I haven't lost hope for Neutral Milk Hotel, Bowie, Prince, Velvet Underground, and Daft Punk because I didn't catch their full set last time. I'd be ok with the Police.

Oh and The Knife, Herbert, Goldfrapp or Matmos for the Sahara, though given they're not major acts it's a longshot by now :(

JAMC are a great addition, so is Manu Chao since you don't see him too often here in the States.

What are you hoping for? There's bound to be some kind of pop star added soon. I just hope it's not Gwen :)

The Knife have so much hype that I'm sure they could be a worthy last minute add. But I'm not counting on it.

Portishead sounds too predictable.

My choices: BoC or anything from that reunion wish list that gets reposted in every thread.

These wishes are a little out there. I could see people going crazy with the electronic suprises because I don't see any real headliners for the Sahara besides Tiesto. Maybe that's just me. But saying bowie and smashing pumkins, amoung others, are bands that could headline. We've already got our headliners. Deal with it.

I think any other adds will be, like I said a big sahara tent name, a sub headliner or a few second tier bands. I'm thinking like Sufjan, Modest Mouse, Doves. Whoever said Leftfield, that'd be a great add. I would also love Aphex Twin.

Has anyone here heard their CD or seen them live? They are amazing - think a modern Zepplin mixed with some post-hardcore and glam. The album is amazing, but they are even more impressive live. They would be absolutely perfect for a early-day slot in a tent.

ok, i just have a few requests...

Bloc Party - i know they are pulling SXSW, but still come on blokes!
Sufjan Stevens
Mindless Self Indulgence
Test Your Reflex - amazing band!
Butch Walker - which could work two ways as an artist or a reunion of marvelous 3
Goose - they would go great around say an lcdsounsystem or ratatat or hot chip
the rakes - you cannot have too many bands from across the pond.
Razorlight - Awesome! would have figured they were on list
Muse - i agree with the other posters... should be here!
Beirut - ok, some of y'all might not like them but i fucking do so kiss it this is my list!
Spoon - how amazing would i turn my camera on sound in the valley? ahhh! Veddy niiiice!
The Sunshine Underground - great sound from another across the pond band.
Cold War Kids - i thought i saw them on the list at first, must have been thinkg about SXSW
+/- (plus minus) - a great band, would have loved to see them here.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - God i love this band! just listen to over and over again... amazing!
JET - They played mistletoe jam in atlanta. let me just say by FAR the best show i have ever seen. they don't even have to try and they fucking rock!
Jamie Lidell - not sure if his style of music would fit in but this whiteboy has soul!
Morrissey - one of the greatest bands/voices of our time.
Malcolm Middleton - very indie, but i love his voice! it would be a great early sunday band!
Guillemots - just a great band!
Sebastien Grainger - if you are going to have half of Death From above 1979 represented with MSTRKRFT then have the other half.
Death From above 1979 - the best two man group of all time! never has just a drummer and a bass guitarist sounded like musical heaven! this is my number one bad i wish would be there. they are broken up, but bring them back to life!
the Faint - i love this band!
HEAVENS - this band is the fucking truth! one of the best bands out there right now. to me
The Streets - a little mike skinner would make this whole weekend (yes the whole weekend) better.
Talking Heads - i could rock out to some Talking Heads... would love to hear Psycho killer!!!
Tobias Froberg - if you are going to have Peter Bjorn and John you might as well bring him. great voice!
Erol Alkan - totally agree with an earlier poster... erol alkan is amazing.. just listen to his remix of do you wanna by Franz Ferd. yeah you would love to hear that pumping one night!

ok, so maybe i should just start my own coachella type weekend, but i am already impressed with the artists that are already listed. i don't know what people are saying about there are not that many good bands/ groups. i think this year is VERY solid!

We need at least 10 of the following for Coachella to be the best of the eclectic music festivals:

400 Blows
The Shins
The Locust
Om
Ex Models
Deftones
Oneida
Wolf Eyes
Liars
Boris
TV on the Radio
Magik Markers
The Mars Volta
Animal Collective

Slayer
Antony and the Johnsons
The Stooges
Prince
Lightning Bolt
Sunn O)))
Jaga Jazzist
Mastodon

Black Dice
Roxy Music
Scott Walker
Converge
The Knife

There is always too much crappy Brit-Pop and Indie Rock at Coachella...GV should pay attention more to the ATP Festival Line-Ups. A lot of these acts would be relatively cheap to book, too.

And for the lets get together to make some $$ on all the 30 + who remember us from High school:
James
OMD
oingio Bonigo
Devo
Camper Van Beethovan
Dead Milkmen
XTC
tEENAGE fANCLUB
Inspiral Carpets

Ha, saw Devo a couple months ago...they are still amazing.

Camper Van's been playing around my area recently, but David whatsiname supposedly lives nearby. Cracker plays a lot around here too.

XTC would never happen...Andy has horrible stagefright. He flipped out on stage once. They haven't toured since the early 80s.

I saw the Oingo Boingo Farewell tour...they so went out at the top of their game, I'd hate to see them sell out. I'm surprised Mutaytor never plays Coachella. (Blue Manish jam band with John Availa from OB).

I saw Dead Milkmen around '90 or so...they were a hoot.

I'd love to see They Might Be Giants again...there's a band that just keeps getting more interesting as they get less popular. Too east coast though...they wouldn't really draw here.

Oh, and Rammstein would be freakin amazing. You really need to see them live to "get" them. I saw them as an opening act in a small theater, and they still did a show worthy of a stadium headliner.

You really do need to experience the live show to comprehened their music. I mean you can't listen to their lead singer ejaculate on someone else whil rubbing his genitals on their ass. You have to experience it!

Exactly :)

I didn't say "comprehend". (And if I had, I would have spelled it right.) I just meant that a lot of people who would never think of listening to their CDs would still enjoy the spectacle. Their show is dumb as hell, but I've never met anyone who didn't have fun.

(Although, some of their music has become quite beautiful over their last few albums...maybe they should cut down on the silly stuff.)

i still think the two best rumors for 07 have always been the pumpkins and portishead. but i don't think portishead is ready and there are already some pretty big reunions. so i think either of those have a miniscule possibility of happening. but stranger things have, and there is a lot of money involved. plus gv knows everyone would like them both. it's never out of the question.

as far as things that are much more reasonable and in my opinion likely; autolux(yes, again, later in the day), queens of the stone age(new record, local), the blow(virtually unknown weirdancerap like coachella seems to favor)... i would like those but i'm not that lucky or special.

my best guess for the surprise "big name" would be the killers. i don't know who first said "david bowie" but i think it's extraordinarily unlikely. though i'd definitely think it was appropriate.

i guess we'll see. i'm looking forward to whatever gets announced from here on out.

Also, has anybody asked if the Stone Temple Pilots would reunite. Along with BUSH, that would be a blast from 90's heaven.

i really hope muse doesn't play, i don't understand everyone's obsession with them. can someone explain to me what's appealing about them?

I dunno...they're really good. How can anyone explain why they like something. Can you explain why you don't?

Better yet, explain why you "really hope they don't play." What difference does it make to you?

I can understand the Rage and Chili Peppers backlash. Rage will probably attract a large number of people looking to cause trouble (even though I'm totally looking forward to seeing them). Chili Peppers are a band that apparently 50% of the people on this board are tired of, and they're taking up a headline spot.

But, for example, I don't really care for The Rapture. I've seen them before. They're interesting. But I don't understand why some people are so crazy about them. Why on earth would I "hope they don't play"? Why can't people just accept that different people have different tastes?

Well, anyway, I'm sure you'll get your wish...there's no way Muse is going to be playing. Meanwhile, I will have to walk several hundred feet to avoid seeing The Rapture. Or maybe not..they're OK. I hope you're happy...

That's maybe the least likely reunion ever...at least under the name KLF. "The KLF has now left the building"

Last time they played (under the name 2K), it was one 17 minute song and they were wheeled out in wheelchairs dressed like senior citizens.

Man, you know if they could be persuaded to show up, they would come up with something to get people talking. I mean, they burned a million pounds for an art project, and then tried to destroy the photographic evidence. They're quite mad.

Royksopp
Goldfrapp
Mew
Sufjan Stevens
The Shins
American Analog Set
Erlend Oye

And think this is highly possible:

i just have to keep the dream alive for Portishead and Boards of Canada, but realistically Jesu since they will end thier tour in L.A. on the 8th. and i think they will save the My Bloody Valentine renunion for next year, i really can see that happening. Dinosaur Jr. would be a good add.

I heard a sweet rumor that good charlotte was going to be playing. How awesome would that be?!

Totally joking. I would rather stab my own eyes out with a spoon...speaking of spooooon...

Spoon would be great
I'd love to party with Mates of State with a tasty side of Asobi Seksu
Of Montreal - I likey their new album and I had a blast the last time i saw them.
The Blow - I've never seen them but I heard good things from CMJ
Sigur Rós is wishful thinking.
Athlete
Doves
Bloc Party
...and of course Sufjan is always a delight.

Most of the bands that are on the top of my list are playing so I can't really complain...and by that statement I really mean...It's going to be amazing. I do believe that there could have been a better choice for a headliner instead of RHCP...but i will be there in either case!

I think most of these bands were mentioned, but I'll second, third, or fourth them. All are great live. The fact that a one or three of them played Coachella in the past 4 years be damned.

• The Replacements
• ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead
• Rogue Wave
• Ash
• Supergrass
• Ween
• Sloan
• Teenage Fanclub
• The Hellacopters
• PWEI
• Superchunk
• The Wonder Stuff
• Wolf Parade
• The Alkaline Trio
• Brendan Benson
• Fugazi

I know here's no way Fugazi will play considering the ticket price, but it's nice to think that it's a possibility if you divide the ticket price ($282.45 after fees) by the amount of bands that are playing as of right now (110) and taking that number ($2.57) and multiplying it by the number of bands which play at a standard Fugazi show (3 in my experience) = $7.71, which is pretty damn close to $7 and it includes service charges.

The only group with the material, and style to deliver like Daft did last year is THE BASEMENT JAXX!!! We need some serious FUNK on this lineup, if no Jaxx, maybe The Chemical Brothers, their new LP will be out by then. Also, what about CAGEDBABY?!
