View Full Version : Linkin Park?

So I know they just finished with their new album, and already have a couple of tour dates for festivals in europe in May, seeing that they are also based in L.A, what do you think the chances are that they will be added to the line up? I think they would make the perfect headliner for Friday night.

Your thoughts?

to be honest i used to put linkin park with limp bizshit as a shity band but over the years i actually have grown to really like the hybrid theory album and they are much better than that fred durst shit so they are ok. their main problem is their line from hip hop to rock sometiems is a mess live and the guy who is the one who raps is fucking terrible live. the singer is good, very good but the rapper dude is shit. so its give and take... when it comes to that form of music, its faith no more, ratm, korn and ill live with p.o.d, papa roach and linkin park..

Perhaps, but by the sound of it, there is only one festival worth traveling this far for, and I'm already going to that one.

I agree with one of the prior posts that Linkon Park used to suck, but they have gotten a lot better as the years gone by. Their newer stuff is actually quite good. I doubt they would headline though for any of the days. If they were to come on Friday, they would probably open up for Bjork. I doubt they would be put on for Sat or Sun.

its not that im a fan, but i dont discredit any music cuz to each his own. trust me i used to think bjork was shit for years until i gave it a chance and now enjoy her work. linkin park is stuck in the limpbizcuit mtv mentality of people's minds. hey no one gave the beach boys any credit for a long time but they put out some amazing melodies. not saying linkin is in that ball park cuz they are certainly not, but they have their moments, thats all..

OK, dude, we get it. You don't appreciate independent music. There's no need to go off about it in every thread - it's getting really old. Go be happy with your mainstream or pop or whatever it is you're into.

the whole surf genre got no respect until years later. The Beach Boys didn't get any respect until they started diversifying their sound. Linkin Park could do the same, but most don't think so.

If linkin park played at Coachella, there would be no more Coachella. The only record labels that should ever sign linkin park or and fall out boy bands should by Nickelodian or Disney!!! The only people that listen to this crap are under the age of a fifteen year olds personality.

Fuck you, your clearly ignorant about the history of South Africa, unlike the US we never had slavery.

It is a popular misconception that slavery in South Africa was mild compared to America and the European colonies in the Far East. This is not so, and punishments meted out could be very harsh. From 1680 to 1795 an average of one slave was executed in Cape Town each month. Decaying corpses would be re-hung around town to act as a deterrent to other slaves.

Would you like me to continue?

linken park is like the last of the horible rap /prog rock metal genre this included limp bizkit crazy town and a number of others. maybe if they infused some meaningful hip hop like RAge does than they maybe wouldn't be so bad.they just dont belong at this fest of inspiring music.

I think LP is ok, their first album Hybrid Theory was good, they're just way too overrated. Agreeing with what someone said earlier, I think they make good melodies but their lyrics are practically emo, and their most popular songs arent that great (Im sick of hearing Numb).

they're good, but not as good as the hype they've been giving. No way.

And that clearly makes you better than a Linkin Park fan...

I won't lie, they were the first band I ever got into back in 7th grade. I'll admit, sometimes I'm embarassed to have Hybrid Theory in my CD collection, and for having memorized that album front-to-back, back-to-front. Do I regret ever digging them? No. I don't regret having it alongside Grace or The Queen Is Dead or Absolution, etc. Nor do I think you need to over-produce and layer 12 guitars over a song to make it musically satisfying (as SubBass isn't necessarily hinting at by his comment, however much he neglects that there is a valid art to writting pop music). However, should Linkin Park be added to Coachella... I'd rather catch another act.

That being said, far be it from me to continue the ranting and raving pervasive in this thread, so,by all means, those of you who have nothing better to say than "I h8te LinCOlm P@rk cause they b3 p0pular and gots da shit R@p in it and da 3mo" please continue to compensate for whatever mental fortitude you lack in order to satisfy the board's clique mindset.

I dont own any of these either, but the few tracks of Norah Jones stuff that I have heard make me at least respect her as a musician. The rest of that stuff is pretty much garbage (though I respect eminem's flow, his lyrical content is like having sweaty balls 24 hours a day...it REALLy sucks)

Hybrid Theory was their only groundbreaking album. And by "groundbreaking", meaning the album contains some talent, shitty lyrics, but good melodies. Thats about it.

But Linkin Park is a band that was simply a phase for me. I listened to them back in 9th grade, and that was it. I can't listen to them now.
