My favorite musician alive, coming back to Coachella! Hs most recent effort, Noble Beast is my favorite album, and early live versions of tracks on the upcoming "Break It Yourself" sounded great at Largo last year.

Who else is excited?

I've only listened to a few songs of his but I really liked them. First heard of him when I heard Tenuousness in the rock climbing / journey documentary 180 Degrees South. I really recommend that movie btw

I've heard of him for years but never got into his recorded stuff. However, I recently became really intrigued after seeing this video and now I'm super excited to see him. Owen Pallett was one of my all-time favorite Coachella sets.

What would be a good 10 songs to download from him
that would be likely to get played for a festival show ?

Quite possibly my number 1 artist to see of the weekend. The man is incredible. I got to see him play a small theater show at the Largo in LA about a year ago that was unreal, but he played almost all demos and improvisations and covers, so I'm really looking forward to see him play the hits.

The live videos from Bonnaroo a few years ago were my introduction to Andrew Bird. I saw him at the Greek theater in 2009 and that performance was really mellow. I'm hoping and guessing that we'll get a performance full of this type stuff:

Everything and anything. All his albums are good 1-close. :) I saw him when he just got his hype early at Lollapalooza a few years back and it blew my mind. He's gonna be incredible.

Armchair Apocrypha is his most accessible album, though The Mysterious Production of Eggs might be a better starting point. Noble Beast is my personal favorite. It's hard to go wrong when choosing an album really.

I love this clip. I have no idea how it ended up on MTV, but that's another story. Very excited for Andrew Bird.

Bump. Holy shit, the new Andrew Bird Album record Break It Yourself just leaked and it's pretty ridiculous. Early favorites include "Danse Carribe", "Lazy Projector", "Lusitania", and "Sifters". Beyond stoked for his set, I'm hoping for a sunset/early evening slot.

I love this album. My favorites are "Orpheo Looks Back", "Near Death Experience Experience", and "Desperation Breeds. . .". I think the fact that so many people have different tracks as favorites is a testament to how great the album is as a whole. Btw he is amazing live, seen him twice now.

I am definitely not going to miss Andrew Bird. I was introduced to him shortly after the lineup was revealed and I was hooked when I heard this song:

Would also love to see St. Vincent and Andrew Bird share the stage this year as well.

you gotta figure Annie Clark (St. Vincent) will come out and play this song with Andrew Bird, right?

They are both playing the same day (Saturday), but I don't think their sets will conflict with one another...

I am not expecting to hear this song from Andrew Bird, but I hope he plays it!

IceyHotshot

He only plays it with a full band (because solo there would be a lot of silence), and he has a full band this tour... so I'm really hoping for it too!

I saw him do a solo show late last year. I was absolutely blown away, he was completely stupendous. Recordings don't do him justice at all. I'm actually a bit disappointed that he won't be doing a solo set; his one-man-band setup, with the gramaphone prop and the looping, is so unique. Definitely one of the bright spots at this year's festival, and I imagine it will be relatively sparsely attended, which should add to the intimacy.

I'm somewhat late to the Andrew Bird party, but I'm really looking forward to his Coachella set. He's also playing the venue I work at a few days after the festival.

Here's a poster for the show:

EDIT* I hope St. Vincent joins him for "Lusitania."

He generally does portions of his full band sets solo, so i wouldn't be surprised if he did a few songs by himself with all the looping/etc
