Madness is such a legendary band. I have never had the chance to see them live. This will be a highlight for Coachella 2012. Is it the entire original lineup?

So happy that Madness is playing! After seeing The Specials in 2010 I've hoped they would make an appearance one year. I hope Goldenvoice continues to book these classic 2-Tone ska bands

haha Ken you don't have to put "2012" after every band you're starting a thread for if they're already on the lineup.

Any idea what happened that year? They did all of a sudden disappear from the lineup. It was fucking depressing. I never heard anything more about it. Here's hoping it doesn't happen again!

They will be better than The Specials.

When the Specials played, one original member was missing. I wonder if Madness will have all its original members.

aquabats last year, madness this year. i'm so happy.

The Aquabats are not Coachella material, I only saw them because I was waiting for bands after them at the ssame stage. The only thing I liked about the Aquabats last year is that Danny DeVito made a guest appearance. Does anyone have a photo of that?

I really sincerely hope not. The Specials were fantastic... but it was so hot. I, and everyone around me, danced like a maniac... but the set would been much better at night on the outdoor theatre. Plus, I dont want to deal with Arctic Monkeys fans who have never heard of Madness before. Madness really should play the outdoor at night and I believe they will.

and I'm planning on Madness being the best ska band I've ever seen.

I just got waaaaayyy more excited for Coachella. Madness is easily one of the most professional bands performing at the fest. These aren't some amateur indie pop hype sensations, these are amazing, professional, experienced musicians. You have to be stupid to miss this set.

The English Beat in their prime (~1981) were the best ska band anyone has ever seen.

I confess that I wish I could have taken my crush Jeannette to see the English Beat back then. I would look in the mirror in the bathroom and then twist and crawl until the end of the party but after all that she would tell me to save it for later.

Ever get a chance to see Fishbone back in the late 80's early 90's? Although I guess they might not be seen as a ska band technically, as their influences were pretty much all over the place.
Also, I just remembered the Untouchables was another band that always put on a fun show.

I saw Fishbone in about 92. NOFX opened for them.

I feel like I've told this story a million times on here, but it's one of my favorite concert stories ever so I will tell it again.

I was in the pit during NOFX and being a somewhat petite 20 year old I got knocked over and was being trampled. From out of nowhere this giant black hand grabbed me like a rag doll and pulled me up and out. I looked up to see my hero slowly disappearing back in to the pit as he blew me a kiss. It was FUCKING Vernon Reid. :pulse

One of the most energetic sets of the weekend by both Madness and the audience. Ear to ear smiles on every face up front and in the pits, couldn't have asked for a better set list either. Oh, they played Our House and It Must Love near the end, the other two you might okay, there's a good chance the set times may be perfect for weekend 2.

But a big question, was anyone else incredibly distracted by the giant man woman with the big fu Manchu mustache and leopard print unitard and fur hat dancing off to the side of the stage? Who or what the hell was that?

I didn't see him during the set but he ended up on stage during the last couple songs, along with a couple of other guys. Not sure who those guys were.

Did anyone see the dude in the safari outfit in the skank pit? He was completely hammered and having a blast, he kept trying to push past me to talk to Hasselhoff and then immediately turning around and going back to the pit.
