They'll probably only play songs off of "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" and "Saturdays=Youth", maybe except for one or two songs, so it makes most sense to listen to those I think.

Sign on to the Outdoor Sunset request! Saw them at Mezzanine in SF a few months back and my only criticism is that the venue was too small -- the new album, in particular, begs for big, open spaces ... I really hope they don't get placed in a tent!

I see that M83 is not playing Raconte-Moi Une Histoire during their tour. That's the "frog song." Personally, I love it and think it would be amazing at Coachella. Think of all those kids on drugs taking the lyrics seriously.

it's like, at coachella, we can be a whole group of friends. a whole group of frogs jumping into the streets, jumping into the planet, climbing up the buildings, swimming in the lakes and in the bathtubs. we would be hundreds, thousands, millions. the biggest group of friends the world has ever seen, jumping and laughing forever. it would be great, right?

Not just teenagers, mid 20s too. M83 is one of the more hyped acts coming into the festival this year. Every chick I know has been obsessed with Midnight City since it came out, and I know quite a few of the faux-hippy, facepainted, Indian-headdress demographic Coachella-goers who will be packing this set. Ah well, don't let that take away from a hopefully solid performance, cause I do love that album.

My advice is to post up toward the back of the tent. Their November show in San Francisco was in all honesty one of the worst crowd experiences I've ever had at a performance, and it was at a 21 + venue. It's going to be gross.

When I saw them there was very little crowd movement, but that was ok with me. Everyone was captivated. That was before the release of Hurry Up, hence before all the new fans there for Midnight City.

Finishing the set with Couleurs is always amazing, and they are guaranteed to do it. However, if they clash with Refused, Madness, Pulp or James, then I'm sorry m83, I've seen you before.

Ha, that's hilarious that a saxophone ruined a band for you. Pretty sure that was only for a couple of shows anyway. Carry on.

EDIT* Also, the live version of "We Own the Sky" is way better than the studio version.

I would be shocked if they were in a tent. In terms of current airplay and sales, the only act on Friday that is bigger is the Black Keys. No one else on that lineup is even close. I don't think they were intended to be a sub-headliner, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them go on before the Black Keys.

I compare M83's newfound mainstream popularity to Phoenix's. Albeit Phoenix had two hits on the radio, but M83 can release another successful follow-up single to "Midnight City." I expect him to get a similar slot as Phoenix in 2010, and it will be glorious.

I doubt M83 will be on the main, especially right before The Black Keys. If they do end up on the main, it would be late-day/early evening, before Arctic Monkeys and Pulp. I defintely agree with their mainstream appeal being big enough for them to get a night-time Outdoor slot though.

I would agree with you, but I'm thinking back to when Phoenix broke through a couple years ago. They were on the Outdoor stage with crowds going back to the food concessions, while Pavement played to a few thousand fans on the main stage. I don't think GV wants a repeat of that.

I think people seeing M83 because of Midnight City are going to be disappointed, as a lot of their stuff doesn't sound like. Depending on what they decide to play, it could be a similar reaction to Animal Collective last year (which I admit to be one of the "MPP bros")

I dont expect the crowd response to M83 to be even close to what it was for Phoenix...I dont know how you could compare them besides possibly getting similar evening set times.

I hope this isn't true because that guarantees a Pulp/M83 conflict. With as much attention as M83 are getting these days could anyone see the main stage go M83 > Pulp > The Black Keys? It kindof makes sense to have Refused, Artic Monkeys and Mazzy Star off the main, as none of those have much of a mainstream appeal.

Well what time do expect pulp to take the stage? Later then 10:30?

Probably between 8 and 8:30

Oh well I guess that makes sense. I can handle missing The Black Keys for M83.

Is anyone giving this The Rapture/10:30/Outdoor Stage scenario any credence?

One of my favorite sets. Setlist was great and I thought the crowd was as well.

I loved the set, but did it seem to anyone else that the vocals weren't live? I couldn't tell for sure, but it sure seemed like it to me.

This was my favorite set all weekend, Morgan fucking killed it on the keyboard!! + her dress was pretty much see though! Shes AMAZING!This could totally be my imagination, but speaking of her dress, was she having wardrobe problems? Many of her moves appeared to cleverly disguise in order 1) her constantly pulling an undergarment back up, followed by 2) giving up and finally letting it drop to the ground, 3) taking one foot out and then the other, and finally 4) kicking it backwards towards the stage operator.

I was near the back of the tent and the music wasn't nearly loud enough, I could hear people talking over it even when they were using their inside voices.
