I had to explain to some of my younger friends how big a deal it is for Coachella to get Dre. This is basically his first major show since the UP in The Smoke tour in 2000.

GuyInTucson

Exactly. He hardly EVER performs live. I think he has only toured three times since NWA broke up and the last time was the Up in Smoke Tour.

I've seen Snoop twice over the last 2 years. First time performing an album in its entirety (RTB 2010) and once as more of a greatist hits (Pacific Fest 2011). Gotta say his greatest hits set blew me the fuck away. The only thing I can say for both sets is that he lagz like a mother fucker. Hopefully Dre gets things going in a timely fashion, really hoping there's no Justice conflict.

Re: Who is 2012's obvious headliner?

Being at work, bored like a mother fucker....reading everyones "obvious" headliners, I find myself thinking who would be headlining acts for two weekends in a row. I've come up with the three headliners I think are the so called "obvious" choice.

Dr. Dre has not been mentioned. Why? He could deffinately headline one day for two weekends in a row. He's better than Jay-Z, and Kanye. He's a hip-hop legend, and most importantly he lives in L.A. Dre also has a huge list 0f hit songs that would deffinately have the Coachella crowd jumping and bumpin', and getting their smoke on. It would be a hell of a fuckin party fo sho.

Radiohead is the other "obvious" choice. They have played APW a couple of times on the same weekend. Thom York's played Coachella twice either on his own or with Radiohead. The fans want it and I'm sure Radiohead are long overdue for a return to Coachella.

Daft punk is my last "obvious" choice. Last time Daft Punk played Coachella, they performed in the Sahara. Not enough space for the huge crowd that tride to get a glimps of the fantastic dj duo. I remember that night, and all I could think was "Why didn't Daft Punk play on the Coachella stage after Depeche Mode?" Daft Punk has never been more popular than they are now, and I can obviously see Daft Punk playing on the Coachella stage. Chemical Bros. did it this year, so why not Daft Punk?

So, there you have it;
Dr. Dre
Radiohead
Daft Punk

P.S. FUCK THE HATERS!!!

Last edited by SEEDYMIG420; 06-13-2011 at 09:40 PM.

Those were my predictions for this years Coachella headliners....2 out of 3 ain't bad. Dre. & Snoop are gonna fuck shit up, fo sho. I can't wait!!!

Couple questions:

-Is the % chance Eminem shows in the single digits? Did he vanish to his Michigan compound and gain 40 pounds again?
-Was 2000 the last time he did more a than a couple infront of an audience?
-What's the longest set Dre's ever done in his career? Does Snoop ever do much more than an hour?

Eminem really doesn't like performing live and usually only does it when he has to promote an album or there is a big paycheck involved. I'd be surprised if he ended up there as a guest for Dre and Snoop.

I get the argument for Kanye, but no way in hell Jay-Z is overrated.

I was falling asleep during Kanye last year, and wasn't that impressed with Jay-Z in 2010. I was beginning to think that maybe I just don't enjoy live hip hop that much, but then I saw Eminem at Lolla and he was by far the best hip hop act I've ever seen.

I was at all three of those sets and Eminem was easily the worst. I mean it was ok but not nearly as good as Kanye or Jay-Z

I've got a rap thing where I generally only like angry rappers (Chuck D, Eminem) and funny rappers (grew up on the Fat Boys and the Beastie Boys, so forth), but not kinda mainstream braggy rappers (Jay-Z being the worst offender, in my opinion).

Needless to say, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are a must-see for me. It's a natural angry-funny mix with these guys, and they will close the show in SoCal style.

I saw that set at Pacific Festival. He is a great performer. And the crowd was pretty small, such a good show.

02. The Next Episode
03. Tha Shiznit
04. Deep Cover
05. Banter One: Sticky-Icky-Icky
06. Who Am I (What 's My Name)?
07. Nuthin' But A G Thang
08. Fuck You (featuring Devin the Dude)
09. Year 2000 (featuring Xzibit)
10. Bitch Please (featuring Xzibit)
11. Chronic Break
12. What's The Difference (featuring Xzibit and Eminem)
13. Forgot About Dre
14. Tribute To Fallen Rappers
15. California Love
16. Wanted Dead Or Alive
17. Banter Two: Can't Make A Ho A Housewife
18. Gin and Juice
19. Ain't No Fun (If The Homies Can't Have None)
20. Explosive
21. Let Me Ride

Your sarcasm is ignorant. Getting a DJ like SBTRKT to return is entirely different than having two HEADLINERS from the last 2 years return to headline together. Not to mention, you can look at SBTRKT as not being a repeat act anyway because his 2011 set was a DJ set and his 2012 set will be Live.

Jay-Z & Kanye West are completely different together, that's why they called themselves "The Throne." They were at least somewhat relevant this year rather than having some crappy headliner from Pacific Festival and some dude that made a decent rap album 20 years ago...

Jay-Z and Kanye didn't call THEMSELVES "The Throne". Their album is called "Watch the Throne"

And you obviously don't get the Dre and Snoop booking. Dre hasn't performed live in a FULL show in over a decade. He hasn't performed a full show with Snoop since the Up in Smoke Tour in 2000.

Also, they are billed as "Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg". That means they are performing together, playing the songs they did together. That means you aren't getting a bunch of Snoop's garbage he has made post-2000. You will get The Chronic, Doggystyle, Chronic 2001 and maybe some shit from Snoop's albums that Dre produced (i.e., Bitch Please) while he was with No Limit. There MAY be some more modern hits and perhaps something from what Dr. Dre is currently intending to be the Detox album.

This isn't going to be anything similar to "some crappy headliner from Pacific Festival and some dude that made a decent rap album 20 years ago" that you allude to. And calling the original Chronic a "decent" rap album is laughable. It completely changed the landscape of hip hop in the 90's and beyond. You should probably resist from communicating on this board any further. You prove to be more of an imbicile each time you decide to respond to a post.

Do a quick google search and you'll find out that they call themselves "The Throne". This just proves your ignorance towards music.

OMG! Dre hasn't performed a FULL show in over a decade? There's a reason for it, because he only made one DECENT album. You can't perform if you don't have any new material.

Finally, The Chronic is DECENT at best. You want game changers? Listen to ATCQ, Nas, Eric B, NWA, Wu-Tang Clan...

"The Throne" is the name of the group, and I do think he brings up some valid points.

Not the one decent album comment, that's just ignorant. Snoop played at what, 4 in the afternoon a couple of years ago? He played a fair amount of songs that will surely be played with Dre, are they really going to be that much better? I don't hear anybody talk about how great Snoop was, and that's because he sucks. Warren G played "Regulators" in the Sahara Tent, do you hear anybody talk about that?

I aboslutely understand and appreciate the significance of Dr. Dre, but Snoop is such a loser now. Being high does not make up for lack of talent. I'm still excited, I just would've been more excited if it was billed, "Dr. Dre and friends" or something along those lines. Dr. Dre and Em would've been better too.

Let's hope the energy is up there. I trust Dr. Dre, I just hope Snoop doesn't fuck it up.

No, they're not called "The Throne". A quick google search will prove that you're a fucking retard that should go off in a dark corner and start downing bleach.

The first Chronic album was an absolute game changer. It was a classic album and if you think otherwise you should harpoon yourself face-first into a ditch full of dirrty syringes.

He also made a second Chronic album and that was a pretty fucking good release. Also, Dre has been working on an album for about a decade now for the simple fact that he takes his sweet ass time with his work. "In da Club" - 50 Cent's first hit - was a beat that Dre originally made for detox. He has a shitload of newer material, you're just an ill-informed dumbass.

Finally, The Chronic is DECENT at best. You want game changers? Listen to ATCQ, Nas, Eric B, NWA, Wu-Tang Clan...

Tell me more about real hip hop sonicc. You do realize that Eric B was just the producer on his album... you didn't even mention Rakim. Did you really say NWA too. You have to be a troll. No one could be this lost.

Dylan I can;t find a single place where those two are officially called The Throne. I know people reference them as that, but their album is billed as Jay-Z and Kanye West and everywhere I find their work online it references them as such.
