This will be a major highlight this year. Give them a closing set (Mojave) Friday or Saturday night. Hipsters, scenesters and other wannabes be damned!

Also, the ATR fans will destroy any other band's fans.

It was a whole genre in the late 90s. I've personally never liked ATR but having them booked is pretty cool. Kind of a rare act.

Which made that long ass line we had to wait in just to get into the concert hall even more annoying. Those people had no fucking clue what they were in for. Hell of a set though.

My guess would be somewhere in the late afternoon, probably in the Mojave.

they played september 9th @ the key club and did a us tour september 2011.

granted, before then i had not seen them around for some time. i saw them back in 2001 at the whiskey and it was intense! loud! and fun as hell!

Where would they be billed?

i'm guessing they'll play in GOBI. doubt it'll be a closing set, but i wouldn't be surprised if it is.

kvnty
01-06-2012, 02:46 PM
And you definitely will lose all your water weight sweating that shit out while raging your ass off. Fuck, I can't wait for this set ... or Coachella now. If at least two of my other wishlist bands make the lineup, I will do backflips at my work cubicle.

Would be sweet if they got the Sleigh Bells or Cut Copy time slot in Mojave on Friday - or the Scissor Sisters slot (again, Mojave) on Saturday.

I'm pretty sure this would be a late set, though it could be in the Gobi. It's going to fuck things up for anyone who wants to see whoever is on after. Put it at the end of the night and clean up the aftermath later.

I didn't expect many fans on the board, but I'm surprised at how many people have said they had never heard of them. I thought they were pretty notorious.

I'm a little wary with no Hanin Elias, but I'll be there. Towards the back.

Yeah I saw a lot of families with young kids walking in, and had to laugh. They left town faster than Pauly Shore's agent after Bio-Dome.

That was a great set, though. Would love to see them again.

The shitty thing about their Bumbershoot set was that you had to snake around that entire building and go down inside that black hole of a "concert hall" to even see/hear them. People were obviously curious about who they were, but had no way of easily walking up to the stage and getting a quick first impression.

Cool pic I caught from that show:

If I'm not mistaken there were only 2 dates, one in New York and one in LA. After the first one, the tour was stopped.

I remember Wu-Tang bailing on a bunch of dates that tour. Defintiely didn't play the show sheduled here, can't remember if RATM/ATR did all the shows anyways.

Yes, it could be one big gob of spit in Coachella's face, but being a huge ATR fan, I'm opting to hope for the best and take their proclamation at face value. We shall soon see if you'll be getting a freeze-dried vial of tears from me by FedEx.

There would be sound bleed galore and several fewer BK fans to pollute the earth once ATR's set had finished.

Alec up to his old tricks again.

http://www.pitchfork.com/news/45679-atari-teenage-riots-alec-empire-donates-money-from-sony-ad-to-hacker-group-anonymous/

Alec Empire, frontman of the German electropunk group Atari Teenage Riot and founder of the Digital Hardcore label, is now also a 21st century Robin Hood of sorts.
Empire has handed a large sum of money earned from Sony Entertainment off to FreeAnons, which is part of the pro-hacker Anonymous Solidarity Network. The group offers financial support to individuals facing legal trouble for alleged work with the Anonymous hacker group.
The money came from licensing Atari Teenage Riot's song "Black Flags" for use in a commercial for the PlayStation Vita handheld console. It's a particularly humorous move considering that Anonymous has in the past been in direct conflict with Sony.

I saw these guys open up for Beck back in the 90's in Indiana. They were absolutely horrible. If I remember correctly the lyrics to every single song was "Atari Teenage Riot" over and over and over again. I was like WTFOMFGBBQ. I will avoid them at all costs this year.
