how is it sad that a company that clung to dying business models and perpetrated mass patent trolling in their last years against actual innovators finally bit the dust?

I think you all need a lesson is what bankruptcy is, and what it isn't. This isn't a Chapter 7 liquidation.

in this case, the restructuring is just a means to selling off the patent portfolio before the inevitable acquisition by some other company...

They haven't even been asked to turn in all their houses and hotels for half the purchase price yet.

Its too bad they are going under, a lot of 35mm film projects will be only available to those with tons of expendable money now.

They should have never went for the kodak digital cameras, just stuck to making the media for them. Those cameras fucking sucked.

But they had the easy share!! Memory cards are difficult to manage.

All I'm saying is I've seen companies in much more dire financial condition. So BFD, they sell some patents, raise capital, carry a DIP note during the reorg, and exit the consumer market to hopefully emerge a stronger (albeit much smaller) company. Apparently they still hold a major share of the digital offset printing products industry. They may be acquired, who cares - their legacy will live on.

All Kodak moment areas will now be known as Wal Mart Photo opportunities now
