I am actually excited to see what their take on doom is, their new album is suppossed to be "doom folk." Which I'm sure they think they're the pioneers of, but it's been a shitty subgenre of subgenres for quite some time.

One of the most horrific sounds I have ever heard in my life was turning around after bright eyes' awesome set and seeing this pimpled pussy scream "mumfooord an suuunsss!"

I think their songs are corny as all hell, but their musicianship live is actually quite excellent. In no way would I support back to back years though.

If their upcoming new album is as good as Sigh No More they could be headliners in 2013. They can tour in 2012 and do festivals in 2013.

It's a wonder Old Crow Medicine Show and Dave Rawlings even get on the stage with him. Or Bela Fleck or Abigail Washburn at Telluride.

I don't get the hate for these guys. Their album had some decent instrumentals, and while the lyrics to their songs are pretty trite, I don't think that the lead vocalist lacks talent. I think their higher tempo songs at Coachella were great fun, and the audience certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I was there to get close as possible for Animal Collective, but I walked away more or less a fan, and while I don't think they have enough new material to fill an EP, let alone a new set at Coachella, I don't think that the OP should be ridiculed just for wanting to see a band he likes at a place he likes.

The reason I dislike them is NOT because they get a lot of radio play. I don't care what is popular or what gets played on the radio, I only care what sounds pleasant to my ears. I don't like their music or vocals. The dude's vocals sound like he's talking instead of singing. But then again, I don't like folk music. At all. Not one little bit. And to be fair, I have never seen Mumford & Sons play live. I have heard 2 of their songs, during which I could not change the radio station fast enough.

OK so now tell me why you LIKE Mumford & Sons.

If you don't like banjo, bluegrass, folk music or Rednex... you probably won't like Mumford.

I, on the other hand, like all of these things. Luckily I never listen to the radio (except for KCRW sometimes) so I didn't get all burned out on the guys. Dancing like an idiot during Little Lion Man was one of the most fun things I did this year.

Girl I was dating REALLY wanted to see them, so our we ended up dragging our group of about 12 people to it, get to those crazy light up circular palm trees, listened for 5 minutes and were fucking OVER IT.

We were all dosed on some molly and acid too, to say the least.

Believe we all stumbled upon Empire of the Sun and were amazed

Friday night M&S ---> deadmau5 makes a lot of sense. Lame, but I'd take it over No Doubt or Green Day.

Conflict that with a 2 hour Underworld Sahara set and I'm good.

I remember just being completely shocked at their billing in 2011. I liked the first album well enough, but figured that if they were booked at Coachella itíd be a nice thing to pay moderate attention to while lounging on the grass 100 yards back from the outdoor theater at like 4 in the afternoon. Had absolutely no idea they were so popular, and still donít really understand why when you consider what else is available in that genre.

"Mumford And Sons played their last tour date in support of 2012 sophomore album Babel on Friday night (September 20th) in Bonner Springs, Kansas, and the band told Rolling Stone that they are about to embark on a long break. Keyboard player Ben Lovett explained prior to the gig, "There won't be any Mumford & Sons activities for the foreseeable future following Friday's show."

Asked how long the hiatus would last, Lovett said, "We have no idea. We just know we're going to take a considerable amount of time off and just go back to hanging out and having no commitments or pressure or anything like that. It feels like the last week of school right now, before school holiday when you're in high school. The atmosphere on the road is one of . . . I think everyone's excited about being free of schedules."

So they're gonna go blow their nest eggs and then have a reunion album and tour and make three times as much. Great.

As someone else said in another thread, an "indefinite hiatus" these days usually means around 18 months. Last year the Foo Fighters said they were going on an indefinite hiatus and they have a new album coming out next year.

xuclarockerx
09-25-2013, 01:12 AM
Yeah this doesn't seem as much of a true 'hiatus' as just a little longer period between albums. Most artists take 2-3 years between albums anyway. NBD

I was shocked to see that they weren't
