Everyone here hates jack. They all claim he is for college bro types.

I first discovered jack through surf films. He came from Hawaii to study film at ucsb and started making 16mm films. He was known in the industry as a great surfer and still is. His family is huge and well known on the north shore.

Anyways he was surfing with JP Ben harpers producer and Jp had heard some 4 track recordings that some of the surf community had leaked out. They recorded and he got big. Before all of that you could hear his songs in his films.

If you like jack, find his films. Thicker than water, September sessions and shelter. He has a lot of great artists on those sound tracks and he sits in with g love, Timmy curren, Donovan frankenreiter, jon swift, rob machado and Ben harper.

I liked the jack show at chella. Having mason Jennings come out to sing Buddha too and matt costa... Rad. He kinda got mushy and love song oriented tho. That's what you sing about when your married with kids. His covers from band of gypsies, the cars, bob marley, Paul Simon, sublime and jimmy buffet are all fun.

Good luck with the responses from the community here. Lol. Take it easy

I didn't mind JJ at Roo in 08. I ended up seeing him cause he was in between BB King and Pearl Jam. He has about a dozen songs or so that I like

I worked at Surf-n-sea, a surf shop on the north shore for a few months a couple years ago. Jack would come in with his kid and the kid would go nuts. This kid was on the equivalant of a six pack of four loco's... running around knocking shit over on purpose. I thought it was some kind of joke. No, the kid was just a maniac. Jack was a chill guy though. Very nice.

I was wandering between fatboy slim and black keys.

Was a pretty chill time all over the field that night.

Black Keys were the following night but I get what you mean.

I caught a couple of Jack's songs from the beer garden before heading to the Sahara for Fatboy Slim. It was good background music for drinking beer, just like it was in college.

Maybe, I had a hard time counting because they were all behind me but were all in front of me when I tried to leave. Took long enough to get out of there.
