Your waiting room deal is utter bullshit and works maybe half the time (or not at all for a hot pre-sale).

There is no account creation so you have to enter in ALL your damn info every stinking time. And, half the time all that is dumped once you finally are "called in" from the waiting room. What the fuck?!

And why in hell do we have to pay $5 for standard mail on top of the web "convenience" fee of $13. FYI, Ticketbastard offers standard mail for FREE.

GV, fix this nonsense! Oh, and fuck you Axs.com. Your web designers have the design skills and work flow knowledge of a retard coming off of lobotomy surgery.

Not to lessen your argument, but I just paid 4 bucks for Standard Mail delivery for Ticketmaster.

I thought 'sucks cock' was a compliment?

For what show? That must be new then because it's always been free before.

In any event, this new platform blows.

For the SD Wilco show, TicketFast (or whatever it's called) wasn't available so I had to choose between a bunch of insanely priced mail options... Standard Mail was cheapest and still 4 bucks.

I agree though Front-Gate is a p.o.s.

I like frontgate when there isn't a waiting room. It has worked well for other bands using it in the past, but they stagger out the tour dates going on sale (to avoid the wilco problem). Obviously more servers need to be brought online for a Coachella/Stagecoach type onsale. Actually looking back, the Lollapalooza sale was through that and it went off without a hitch but I couldn't tell you what was different.

Alright that was too much advocacy; Frontgate sucks the cock.

Strange, it's not Frontgate up here in SF...it's AXs.com. I've used Frontgate before and it was fine (albeit not as robust as TM). This new deal (up here and elsewhere?), is terrible. Here's the hype page about it:

O, well that is different then the Wilco thread' complaints. Yeah, more shitty/sub-par services!

Front Gate Tickets
Dear Stagecoach Festival Fan,

We sincerely apologize for any frustration and angst caused today by the ticket buying process for Stagecoach 2012. Our company strives to make ticket buying an enjoyable and satisfying experience. We at Front Gate are also fans of live entertainment experiences and have been in your position before - frustrated by the ticket company and the inability to get the highly sought after tickets you want to purchase. Unfortunately, many times the demand for tickets far exceeds the capacity available and not everyone is able to purchase their first choice of ticket types and seats - or even get a ticket to the show.

All of you experienced the waiting room today - some for a significant amount of time. Front Gate implements a waiting room during high demand on sales to preserve the integrity of the ticketing system. What does this mean? All requests to our site are routed into the waiting room - nobody is able to attempt a purchase without first passing through this stage. The waiting room allows us to control the traffic and ingress into the purchase process. Every thirty seconds, users are randomly selected from the waiting room and moved into the ticket purchase process. Moving from the waiting room to the ticket purchase page does not guarantee you a ticket, you've simply moved through the first step in the process. This happened for many of you today, and you were able to purchase tickets for Stagecoach Festival at record-breaking pace. However, the demand exceeded this pace and many were left in the waiting room for quite some time while specific ticket tiers and camping options sold out.

So that all being said, we are not satisfied and continue to evolve, change, and develop to improve the experience during high demand on-sales. We hear you loud & clear, and value your feedback immensely - whether it’s through Facebook, email, phone, or any other medium. We read it all and apply to our efforts to improve.

Tickets are still available for Stagecoach - and we hope that you are able to purchase tickets before it’s completely sold out. Enjoy the show.

Sincerely,

Front Gate Tickets

Judging from Facebook comments, the first 5,000 random waiting room selections got the discount price, but after that, people who may have entered earlier but missed out on the randomness had to pay an extra $50. That's jacked.

Also you should not limit the sale to 5000 tickets for the discounted price it should have been like years past for a limited number of days at that price, I was in the waiting room at 945 am and still didn't get the lower price if ticket sales don't start until 10 don't open the waiting room till 10. I finally gave up after a 2 hour wait.

Yeah I was first in line to be randomly picked. So unfair.

fyi - AXS (the company Geezr started this thread about) is an AEG company and their website says it's in beta. Frontgate (who did the Stagecoach ticketing) is not affiliated with AEG.

Anyone know who will do the ticketing for Coachella when the normal sale begins?

Ticketing just sucks now, bring me back to the days of waiting in front of a record store. I hate how every year I have to create a new login for tickets, and then, when it comes the day of: My login doesn't work and I have to make a new one.

This happened to me on the NIN farewell tour, that one extra minute sent me from Echoplex to Palladium tickets... still an amazing show though

EDIT:

Ticket sales I don't think will be available till the line up is announced. The presale earlier this year was the only chance to get tickets before lineup was announced. You could read the FAQ to confirm it or poke psychic friend

Thanks mug. I was really just asking who would be handling the ticketing - I think last year it was Frontgate for the presale, then Ticketmaster did the regular onsale ticketing (order taking) with Bandmerch/Intellitix handling the fulfillment (order shipping.) Just curious if GV would try Frontgate for the regular sale (like it sounds like they did for Stagecoach) or maybe the new Axs (http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/touring/aeg-launches-axs-ticketing-platform-to-rival-1005324562.story) division. Or just use Ticketmaster again.

I learned about the Coachella presale because I happened to visit the board while it was going on - never got any email notification. I didn't buy at the time though. I think I might have unsubscribed from the GV email list because I was getting so many emails for shows hundreds of miles away. Wish there was a Coachella only subscription option.

So AEG issued a press release praising their own ticketing system? How is that news?

It's pretty interesting in the context of the Live Nation/Ticketmaster merger. Real-time updates of available seat locations is something Ticketmaster just rolled out too.

Ummmm, the interactive seat map thing has been around for a while, theyve just been tweaking it. Nothing new.

I should not have clicked on this thread, especially so early in the morning. Like rubbing salt into old wounds.

All I can say is that the only valid reason for having a waiting room where people are selected randomly is that they like making people unhappy.

If they really want to make it random, have a fucking lottery for god's sake. But no, they want thousands of people to waste hours of their time waiting...

A blow job as booking fee doesn't seem like something to complain about.

So is FrontGate tickets owned by AEG? Or can we expect to be using this new Axs thing next Coachella?

I don't think AEG owns them. Frontgate have been around nearly 10 years. I think they sell the tickets for Lolla.

I imagine they're using frontgate only because it allows for so much customization in creating ticket bundles for various products within the same order.

I'm just wondering if they're planning on making the switch next year. Especially with so many people complaining about Front Gate.
