Does anyone ever feel while they are posting like Captain Ron is sorta sitting back like The Watcher and chuckling at our comings and goings and feuds and whatnot?I mean, seriously, the guy was at Woodstock. That is kinda fucking amazing...

Colorado Ron's seen it all. He also seems like a kickass guy. And a (former?) hippie who would be fun to talk to.

I agree,he seems really cool. It's just incredible sometimes while we discuss Bjork or Arcade Fire or such, that he saw Hendrix at Woodstock or The Who or Bowie in '72 or whatever.

Ron may have other qualifications, but simply being at woodstock does seem like it should make anyone else less qualified to talk about music.

My dad was at woodstock and he don't know shit.

Beat me to it.

Anyway, I really like the critic's quote on that poster. All it says is, "FUNNY!"

Can't get anymore clear and concise than that. And Martin Short looks like one of the children.

my dad's a mechanic from the bronx, he's down to just age at this point even if he ever was wise.

He didn't have much taste in music either. I grabbed his old Hendrix vinyl, but he didn't have shit else.

my dad had some jazz (dixieland) and folk. Not Guthrie or Seeger or Dylan folk but rather Kingston Trio folk a la A Mighty Wind. He did like Johnny Cash though. also 60s pop like the 5th Dimension and the Mamas and the Papas. then later he got into Neil Diamond and at that point I quit paying attention to what he had.

Its going to sound like I'm making this up, but I always assumed all my dad listened to was Jim Croce and CCR, which isn't bad. But then one day, he was in my brother's car with me and my brother, and we were listening to Steely Dan and singing the words in a faux-Fagen warble, and he knew all of the words to every song. Apparently Katy Lied is his favorite album, next to Chronicle.

My dad was a teddy boy in the 50s. He had the quiff and the green suit and loved Elvis, Orbison and Buddy Holly.

Now he likes shit, but once his taste was just magnificent...

Fuck Woodstock, cr***** was at Altamont! ALTAMONT! One of the days the music died. A potentially more culturally significant concert event than Woodstock and a totally fucked up scene. He was there and he's STILL going to shows - with new artists, old artists, everything.

As far as I'm concerned, cr***** is the leader of the Coachella message board spiritual quest. And he's not even going to Coachella this year.

As the biggest Hendrix fan on this board I'd like to thank you for being one of the relatively few who actually stuck around for Hendrix's set at WS (assuming you did, I wouldn't fault you if you didn't... not out loud anyway). What were the other 2 shows?

I'm pretty much a newbie here, but I appreciate Captain Ron's contributions and the respect he gets from the others on the board. I also appreciate that CR is one of an apparent minority of board members older than me, and that he saw Hendrix live. I am a huge Hendrix fan, too.

Hold up now. Was it the famous fillmore east NYE 70 show?

EDIT: actually remembered another fillmore east show and dug through my collection to find my copy of 5/10/68. Was that the one you were at? I don't think anyone could be lucky enough to have caught both woodstock and The Band of Gypsies.

Here's a pic of my 5/10/68 bootleg. I believe the pic on the insert is from the actual show.

Actually it is just the opposite or mutual to say the least … I come to this board, one because I have been to Coachella a number of times, and 2nd because I respect the music views of the people on this board .. its my kind of music and rarely listen to the radio, so I buy tunes on peoples opinions … this board for current trends and tunes …. Also you don’t dog me for being ‘some old fart’ that has no clue  … I say “thanks guys”, but I know there are ladies on the board too, so “thanks gang” … now if I could just get Physic Friend to understand that I hate patchouli also  … early morning kick back music for a Friday ….the new cd from Neil Young, Live at Massey 71, solo .. yikes what a cd cr****
