View Full Version : So I'm the douchebag in the full-LED shirt

...and I've been wanting to give it a proper name. I missed the Cubatron this year, and the shirt is raver-leaning so I got to thinking "Saharatron". I know many people detest the rave portion of Coachella, but whatever. If anyone cares, what do y'all think for the name?
Thanks!
p.s. to the forum member that called me out sunday for not having it full body, a friendly "fuck you" to you ;)

Thanks. I'll just say in the Ks, those RGB LEDs are expensive :( But I'm very satisfied with the fruits of my work. It's plastic chicken wire, CAT5 wire, demultiplexers and 5mm RGD LEDs - more info here: http://lightbright.net (http://lightbright.net/)

Glad it wasn't intrusive! Gotta give back if I'm going to block people's view, yaknow?

Thanks much :)

I dunno about the arrows, but yes it was animating upward on the sleeves and downward front+back. My avatar is the shirt from Coachella 09 (no sleeves or back).

I dabble in blinky shit for fun as well. I've built tons of 555 circuits on breadboards, and I"m fucking shocked that you're able to keep a bunch of those control cicuits together for any length of time while partying at a festival.
this cracks me up. What is that? Glue?

I designed this with the mindset that I'd be in crowds, bumped into, pushed around and get things "spilled" or poured on me... All the wire is 24ga from CAT5 cabling (best source/deal I could find for bulk strands of wire) - stranded core to resist metal fatigue. Totally meant to be flexible. All the ICs are epoxied at the pins and solder joints for strength (there is no breadboarding or PCB, all wires are directly soldered on the components) then further hot glued for some flexible tension relief. The 555 in that pic was hot-glue only because I wanted to reuse it later...
More than half the people I talk to feel me (it) up, I hug people, girls jump on me :) - last year a guy even got a running start and straight up tackled me on the way to Gorillaz, I landed on my ass on some of the panels under my fat ass and the worst that happened was the battery unplugged and some LEDs got pushed the wrong direction, but still working. And thanks!
the fact that fucker didn't short or any of the leads snap off is impressive....
Inevitably something does, but the only side-effect is a strip of color goes out or becomes too prominent... Nothing permanent so far. Some of the panels worn this year are 3 years old now.

I've been making tiny sweater vests for phalluses for a few years, I don't see why I couldn't tack a few 555s in there and call it a Dachsund Ravearound.

I'm going to need to see a photo of the studio first. The last time someone offered me a deal in those terms I wound up chewing my way through a pair of zipcuffs in the back of a wood-paneled station wagon while footfumbling for the hatch release.

20% and a Dachshund Ravearound specially treated to withstand taxidermy chemicals and sturdy enough for travel and also shaped like a human instead of a dog, and you've got yourself a deal. But I'm going to need Friday off.

The configuration this year was 6 panels, each panel is about 1 month to build in my spare time (an hour or two every few days)...
