PJ Harvey.
Yacht.
Eryka Badu.
Pains.
Health.

If PJ was after Leftfield instead of conflicting I would have skipped out on Kanye altogether.

DFA 1979 - Pretty much one of the groups I really wanted to see.
The Kills
Health
Leftfield
Warpaint

Honorable Mention: Ariel Pink - I just want to see the meltdown on stage.
Jeff Goldblum at the camping grounds.

Missing The National and Chromeo to hit The Strokes and Duran Duran. The Strokes I was doing for sure, but the national was a tough call. But I am planning to see The National at the Hollywood Bowl in September, so I went with Duran Duran, and they surprisingly killed it. That James Bond finale was sick.

No way, you should have dropped duran duran. I saw the national and got up front for the strokes. The John Barry james bond tribute by dd was just awful, they should have stayed split up 20 years ago. Primal scream would have been perfect in that slot.

Leftfield is a pretty rare thing to see. It hurt to miss PJ, but i figure my odds of seeing her again were better than Leftfield. Conflicts always suck to a degree, but where you are is always the place to be. Leftfield was one of the best sets i was ever at for a Coachella. So i guess i won't really regret it, but i did have to stop and make up my mind which was to go right before both of their sets.

My thought process exactly.
Leftfield was probably my favorite set this year and I had no intentions of seeing them till last minute.

Sad I missed Trentemoller, but I've already seen him and his band twice.

Why did you miss DFA?

I was at the Nas and Damian Marley signing. Since i'm a big fan of Nas (first in line), i got their an hour and half early. Damian Marley was the only one to show up (He's a Class Act). The staff kept teasing us that he was still coming but Nas never arrived. As a result, by the time i got over to the main stage they were setting up for Duran Duran i believe.

Chem Bros - just too damn tired to stay. Woke up at 5:30am on Friday and was too excited to go back to sleep.

Missed Phantogram because I wanted to get a good spot for PJ. However, the Chromeo set was HOT so at least I was entertained.

I should've stayed at Lauren Hill longer.

I saw everything I wanted to see, but I regret only seeing small portions of the following:
The National
Chromeo
The Kills
Big Audio Dynamite

The parts of those sets that I did see were great, so I wish I'd budgeted my time better to see more.

As for those who missed PJ Harvey (which, judging by the thin crowd for her set, was most people), you really missed out. Really.

04-18-2011, 07:47 PM
Leftfield - PJ Harvey won out
Sasha - only caught 10 minutes before leaving to see Robyn (at least hers was the best set I saw on Friday and was one of my top 3 for the weekend)
Tallest Man on Earth - left after 20 minutes for Foals (who were terrific at least)

For me it was Duck Sauce and Kanye I probably wish I'd seen. However, I do not regret missing Kanye because the Presets were so awesome. Duck Sauce was just too crowded by the time I got there and I didn't feel like struggling to get in the tent.

To those saying Wire, did anyone actually walk by during their set? There was NOBODY there. To the point where I felt bad for them. I walked in to see their last few songs and it was just absolutely pathetic. I doubt they'll ever come back.

Leftfield, not a regret though as PJ Harvey was an angel.
Gayngs,
Warpaint (caught 4 songs, but they were doing great for that timeslot, wanted more)
The entire Nosaj Thing set , caught most of it due to the Sasha conflict, but man was he fun.

Boys Noize, damn Chem Bros for coming on so late when I could have done alot of both.

The Chemical Brothers... my number 1 act for the weekend. My master plan of watching the Chems until Don't Think then running to Boys Noize was foiled by the technical difficulties. I was the only person in my group of 8 that wanted to stay and wait so I sucked it up and left for the Sahara around midnight... such a painful conflict but hopefully I will have another chance to see a FULL 90 minute set from them in the future

The Chemical Brothers/Boys Noize conflict had me totally depressed until that night. They were the two acts I was most excited about (I am a super fan of both.... I listen to Boys Noize way more, but respect Chems complete live spectacle more than maybe any other electronic act ever) and I couldn't flippin' believe they were scheduled at the exact same time.

We had planned on seeing a bit of Kings of Leon and the start of Chems and then closing at the Sahara so we could catch both, but that became actually seeing ALL of KOL, happily and peacefully waiting for Chems, and staying until they finished.

Those two sets, and the overall vibe of the main stage that night were so perfect, they stand out as my favorite moment of the weekend BY FAR. And surprisingly, I did not feel one shred of regret missing Boys Noize.... Chemical Brothers fucking KILLED IT and we were SO LUCKY to have been there!!!

That being said, I would have liked to see Phantogram, Chromeo, Robyn, Green Velvet, Rye Rye and a few others, but it's Coachella.... you can't see them ALL, and if you do, you're so stressed out, you're not truly enjoying anything.

Sunday night after leaving Bloody Beetroots (right before them, Chase & Status were the surprise of the weekend... so sick), we happily surpassed Kanye for She Wants Revenge, and we were SO glad we did.... as I danced to songs like "Sister" and "Tear You Apart", I felt complete satisfaction that I had a very well rounded experience this year, saw most of what I wanted to see, and what I didn't see, well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be....

Happy Coachella, everyone! See you next year!!! :)

After watching a really high quality video of Cut Copy performing Lights and Music, I am practically seething with jealousy and anger. One of my best friends really wanted to see Marina and the Diamonds because they are both Welsh, and so I went with her as a compromise so that she'd come to some set I wanted to see (forget which one, I think Boys Noize instead of Flogging Molly). She was actually kind of fun, but Cut Copy looked beyond epic, the crowd went absolutely insane. Next year I'm being a selfish bastard and only going to what I want to see.

Definitely not a girl, but I think the problem was that the three people I was with from home were girls. They had been giving me guilt about leaving them earlier (I did a bunch of sets earlier in the day by myself, Odd Future, A-Trak, etc) so in the back of my mind I was like, "I don't want to see Cut Copy that badly, I can skip to stop the grumbling." 2 years they've played and conflicted with headliners that everyone in my group wanted to see. I Was sad to miss Phantogram too but I figured they'll be easier and cheaper to catch in the future than the Strokes. also, i wanted to see omar rodriguez-lopez but i haven't heard anyone who saw him/said he was amazing, so.. i don't know if i regret that as much ..

so many conflicts this year.. plus i was with my first-timer bf this year, so i couldn't be as selfish as i had been the previous 2 years i went :)

THE PRESETS! FUCK!

2 years they've played and conflicted with headliners that everyone in my group wanted to see. I Was sad to miss Phantogram too but I figured they'll be easier and cheaper to catch in the future than the Strokes. Trentemoller was a sad sacrifice too just due to the insanity that was Sunday, but I knew that was to be the case even before the set times came out.

and nosaj

man you guys really missed out.

Cold War Kids
The Kills
Aquabats (I heard it was awesome -- wish I had gone)
Cut Copy
Tallest Man
The New Pornographers
Warpaint
Boys Noize

But I'm so happy with everything I saw. I just wish I could have gotten it all.

THE NATIONAL !!!!!!!!!!!

I hear that too. I fully committed to seeing Duran Duran so it sucked that National wasn't possible.

I regret watching the Chemical Brothers instead of Sasha --> Boys Noize.

Well, I saw some of Sasha, but still...

I was on the railing for Cut Copy and had a choice to either stay and have no party favors for Magnetic Man/Chems or leave and hook up. I left. I grabbed the smallest girl I could find and put her on the rail so hopefully I'll get some good Karma back when I see them next month!

Damn, dude. That was one of the best Coachella performances I've ever seen. Bummed I have to bail on their Tempe show. Hopefully I'll be able to transfer my ticket.

I'm pretty bummed about missing Robyn (I didn't think there was any way I'd find everyone for Chems) and Cut/Copy (wasted on the Black Keys). I saw like the last couple of songs of Cut/Copy walking to the Sahara after bailing on Black Keys and it looked like the whole tent was going off. :(

missed trentemoler for duck sauce, duck sauce was good and all but after listening to the live recording of trentemoller's set, i now realize, i made the wrong choice.

missed emancipator in the do lab because i was already so close to the main stage after BSS and bright eyes, just didn't feel like battling the crowd and stayed for mumford.

Pretty much everything after 6PM on Saturday. Severe jet lag. I don't even remember how the fuck I got back to my campsite, I just woke up there the next morning.

Fantomas,I was 19 and didn't know who they were at the time or had the taste in music I have now.I stayed at the Coachella Stage on the rail from Buck 65 to almost the end of Bauhaus. I did those walk to the Sahara for my first time and Chemical Brothers were playing.

Oh man, Fantomas. Tangentially, now I wish I had Lovage on my iPod for work today.

Well, I thought this thread was mostly just speaking of Coachella. There are scores of bands I regret not making an effort to see, in general.

No they conflicted, was pretty lame. I'm not sure how the two will compare, but I'm getting the chance to see Plastikman in all his glory in about a month. Again, I doubt I'll ever have the chance to see Thom Yorke do The Eraser live.

2011- Missed the Chems and Boys Noize for Flogging Molly. Totally worth it, got a spot on the rail. Also missed Shpongle to get a good spot for AC/AF.

2010- Missed TCV for Grizzly Bear, Plastikman for Gorillaz, Fever Ray for Jay-Z (this is the one I'm most upset about)

2009- Missed the Presets for Mccartney, MSTRKRFT for Atmosphere, and Lyyke Li for Brian Jonestown Massacre

2008- Missed Murs and Black Mountain for Roger Waters. Totally worth it, though. Missed Animal Collective for Kraftwerk.

Empire of the Sun. Animal Collective left me in a weird place so I needed to go to Untitled to recuperate, as hippie as that sounds.

Last year was Yann Tiersjen... seriously am I ever going to have another chance to see him?

Haha after having my brains blasted by Animal Collective I tried to go watch empire of the sun and couldn't take it seriously.

Yeah, knew that would happen to me, Untitled was like a mental medical tent for me. Also sad I didn't see more of Beardyman, but my gf wasn't digging it and I was pretty stoked to see all my friends at Magnetic Man, regardless of Magnetic Man.

yea i pretty much was rolling on the ground laughing at EOTS when i went to see them after AC, and now i cant even listen to their music. its funny cuz it was the other way around before i saw AC. that untitled installation was perfect after animal collective and im think alot of other people thought so too.

The only thing I regret missing was Mount Kimbie, and it doesn't even bother me that much that I missed them, it just took way too long for them to get started so I left.

Cut copy, although Black Keys were one of my favorites of the weekend; same for magnetic man. Kinda wish ida seen the ball drop at Arcade Fire but scissor sisters made it rain. Can't wait til I can make Coachella happen again.
