i saw him at the wiltern and while it was good, didn't think i would see him again. That said, him playing the ventura theater is awesome. Small venue, very easy to get up front. I've been up against the barrier for Queens of the stone age, Toots & The Maytals, Flogging Molly and soon Mars Volta. Plus its a 5 minute walk from my house.
That's awesome!

if anyone is planing on going to the Mars Volta ventura show, let me know. We're throwing a huge party at my old house, get trashed with a lot of people and and then walk on down to the show. Anyone invited!

Looking at those other venues, I wonder if this one will go down. Except for LA and San Diego, he is playing 1200-3600 cap venues.

This particular venue is way out in Sun City, a retirement community. It usually hosts shows like Debbie Reynolds and Tony Bennett. Recently, it was taken over by a promoter that owns a bunch of theater style venues.

Last fall, Devo was touring 1500-2500 cap venues, and this company was promoting a lot of them. They booked them into this place, and judging by the tickets I wound up getting, it must have been at least 1/3-1/2 sold out. But the promoter pulled the plug at the last minute...presumably due to ticket sales. This is the only other rock show that's ever been booked there.

I just don't know if Moz can pull over 4500 way the hell out in Sun City, especially if he's playing Tucson a couple nights earlier. The Hispanic community is based in the far south end of Phoenix...it might almost be easier to drive to Tucson from there than Sun City (far Northwest)

The only thing that might save this show is that it's on a Saturday and, Tucson is Thursday. Or maybe I'm totally underestimating his Phoenix fanbase. I know he's played Celebrity Theater before, which only holds 1800, and that's if they play "in the round". They usually only do 1/2-3/4 capacity.

does anyone know why Moz is such a big pull for the mexican community? The Wiltern show was packed with Hispanics and he seems to be touring to cater to em. (ventura theater will pull a lot of people from neighboring city Oxnard)

The El Paso date I will be attending is probably going to be like 98% hispanic, me included. I am not sure why hispanics like Morrissey so much. A lot of my friends, who are pretty much all hispanic also like Morrissey. It's not that his music has anything to do with us or anything though. I don't know. My friends that LOVE Morrissey also like The Cure and Depeche Mode a lot... Maybe hispanics just love the 80s and Morrissey is their only link to The Smiths? We are hispanic, but we are not super traditional Mexicans. Most of us don't even speak spanish. I know I don't.

Well, he's announced a June 30th date at Madison Square Garden so I'm thinking (and hoping, as I live in Washington DC), that there will be some other east coast dates. He better at least play in Philly, going to shows in NYC is a pain in the ass if you don't live in the vicinity.

Oh boy, June is going to be busy... I am down for SD but that means drivin overnight after Arcade Fire in Berkeley. For sure the Bowl and Ventura, but I really wanna go to Vegas and see him at the Pearl... Hollywood Bowl tix will be a small fortune. I will say the front pool, garden and terrace boxes will cost over $90....

Yes Morrissey is playing some oddball places... Like El Paso. Lately we have been getting some big name acts. We usually just have some crap things here like Nickleback. Lately we had The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, Beck (it was free and awesome), Nine Inch Nails (the new dvd was recorded here), Tool (is coming), and now Morrissey.

That's great though. I hate having to make a huge and expensive journey out of every concert I go to.

Yep, The Bowl, Ventura, The Fillmore in Denver, and Bayside(which is actually Embarcadero but whatever) I love them all. Of these 4 Ventura is the smallest of course. Just think of it as the Wiltern in L.A. or The Warfield in SF set up wise but half the size. The Fillmore is really cool and sounds good considering its huge for an indooor venue. The bowl is awesome of course since it is outside and it sounds better since they got the new shell and a new PA. Bayside is coolause you are right on the water and the SD skyline is right next to you. I want to go to Ventura, The Bowl and Vegas. The Pearl is brand new and state of the art, who doesnt wanna check that out? I still cannot find a picture of the inside of the Pearl even on their website... Ventura can maybe suck cause security can be jerky, never had problems in the other ones...

OK and the supposed onsale of this weekend for all the shows seems to be total B.S. unless all the links get posted by tomorrow night or something. No presales from KROQ, Live 105 etc etc or anything? Weird.......

From true-to-you.net

All tickets for Morrissey's forthcoming US tour will be onsale on 31st March. The one exception to this is Oakland where the onsale day is April 1.

1) believe it or not, my high school graduation was held there. It's really a music hall for Tony Bennet and the Shondells or whatever. Old school.

2) I'm concerned about the promoter pulling out. Really, it's an odd place for a show. It's on the way west outskirts of Phoenix in a senior retirement city. I'll be suprised if it doesn't get cancelled (like a previous poster said-that place has only ever had one other rock show booked there-and it was cancelled.) I just figured since I can fly anywhere for free, I would "expand my horizons" a little and check out some other venues.

Phoenix is not "all old people". Phoenix is really cool, and I got to a show there just about every other month. But it's not IN Phoenix. It's in Sun City. (Actually, Sun City WEST, which is even further out.)

The venue is really nice from what I've seen, but it's too big, and the promoter doesn't know how to promote rock shows. It's about an hours drive from some parts of Phoenix. Tucson's only a little bit further, at a "cool" venue, and it will sell out.

After the Devo show got cancelled, I talked to the promoter for the Marquee Theater (which would probably be a good venue for Moz.) He said "I knew that show would die as soon as they announced it."

(Didn't I just go over this?)

Seriously, there is only one other show scheduled this year at this venue- Patti Page.

Yeah the Marquee isn't a bad place to see a show; too bad that wasn't chosen. The Celebrity is the best small venue around here but maybe it's booked already or something. Anyhoo, I just talked to my Coachella concert buddy and he lives in Tucson, so I'm gonna fly down there and hit that show instead. He said the venue is pretty cool and it's right downtown. Don't think the tix will be too bad there. Tucson's got a pretty cool hippie/vegetarian/college/goth feel to it.

HB is always expensive for close seats.
i'd have to have a really good job before i even think about going to an event at the bowl.

good for Radiohead.
they got the HB to lower their ticket prices.
every show i've inquired about has really high pit prices.

Radiohead is able to offset prices with a venue like the Bowl because they give them a good cut of the merch sales since Radiohead knows they will sell like a s**tload of t shirts at $30 a pop. But usually prices end up being high like that for anyone else. Other than Radiohead, Coldplay is the last one I remember selling tickets at all the same price for their show at the bowl.

God, I wish I could afford to attend this show.

Hmm, is anyone going to the one in San Diego? That would be way better. It'd be like Radiohead last year. Wonderful venue and all general admission. Not a bad spot inside, really.

No more balloons sadly, but the production for this tour will be insane. I saw some photos of it from their last european tour and its amazing.

Well where would you be seeing Muse? And where would you see Moz? You can go to both you know. Like if you were down to make the trip to San Diego and see Moz because that venue is all GA and outside and its only $45 a ticket, compared to like $89 for Ventura, $73 for Riverside or $135 for the Bowl if you wanna be in the front I would say do that. And Muse in SF would be tons of fun since the Bill Graham will be all GA so you can go whereever you want and L.A. is at the Forum so it might be a different experience since you could have a seat for that. Let me know and I will give you a decision. I am going to Muse in L.A. so ya know...

Again I will say this:

KROQ is having another presale for the Hollywood Bowl tomorrow at 10am password is MOZ

Yeah they are all priced the same, but it depends if you want to be elevated on the sides at level to the stage, or if you want to be on the floor in front of the stage. I saw The Mars Volta in a similar seat at a different venue, and it seemed easier to watch. I am kinda' short, so I went for the seats around. Row 3 is super close though, I am right on the side of the stage.

Morrissey SD it is, I wouldnt sweat it too much with getting those tix because I doubt it sells out very fast. All of the HxC Moz fans emptied their wallets this morning on pre sales so whichever ones didnt get tix which is probably a few of them will sell some saturday, but casual fans will slowly sell tickets. But hey like I said, go to both if you can. If you have never seen Muse live and you get seats for the Forum then its good to watch, you can pay more attention to whats happening and not be like swaying around with everyone on the floor.(myself included)

Dont remind me of price right now. It was 150 each for Hollywood Bowl and 76 each for Vegas. And still considering SD, which would be another 60 after charges,
