Harajuku theme camp is underway as of this past weekend. Group of about 20 coming from LA, Austin, and Phoenix. Keep your eyes open(you wont be able to miss us) and drop by to say hello. Our camp is gonna rock. Anyone else doing a large group camp? If so, I am looking for details on about how big the lots are. We have alot of stuff to set up so if anyone has experience in large, group camping at Coachella, please help me out.

lots arent that big but if your group is all together you can use several spots.

Where Is The Line
03-14-2007, 01:50 AM
thank you, but I am looking for more of exact dimensions of the lots. last year there were 10 people per lot but it was not large enough for 10 people to be on with 10 tents. we might just have to wing it and hope everything fits. thanks for your help though.

the FAQ can tell you all of this. you are allowed a 7x7 sq. feet per person. so 20 people = 140 sq. feet

And 2 people??? 14 X 14?

Puppet

Oh Hey!! We were just thinking we should have a clothing rack geered towards the "Fruits" Style at our shop-- Austin is so not as hip as it should be in that department.

ohhoh, we have got some tricks up our sleeve. just you wait and see. going all out this year. it's gonna be a blast. puppet, I agree with you on the fashion end of Austin. not the best. but I think most people are really into the food, music, art, etc. that fashion is not the biggest concern, which is cool. I still love it. like the idea for your store. you should do it. I know 4 people in Austin who would check it out.

the FAQ can tell you all of this. you are allowed a 7x7 sq. feet per person. so 20 people = 140 sq. feet

For 20 people, it would be 980 sq feet (or apprx a 31ft x 31ft area)

And 2 people??? 14 X 14?

And 2 people would be 7ft x 14ft

Where Is The Line
03-26-2007, 05:23 AM
thanks to bird for clarifying the glaring fact that a majority of the girls at this camp are lesbians. no, not the kind of lesbians who make out with other girls if front of guys that they want to turn on. the real ones. ha ha. there will be one japanese girl. straight. involved with another camper. sorry guys. there are a couple of cute single girls though. gay and straight. not japanese though. sorry. as for cornelius, one of our campers was talking about seeing him live a couple of years ago. she said it was like a japanese romper room on acid. sounds like he would fit in perfect at our site. maybe we should just call it the camp cornelius instead. then people would get it without a lengthy description of harajuku. I did hear a rumour that he might play on camp though...:)

Touché. Harajuku is rad, Gwen Stefani, not so much. I do believe that there is one thing that is more passe and unoriginal than Harajuku. Morrissey fans still hanging on to him like a needy toddler does his moms apron strings perhaps. Don't get me wrong, I love Morrissey, but c'mon, the guy hasn't put out a halfway decent album in the last 15 years. Let it go, DJ.

Oh, fun. Try to attack what I like because of your horrible taste in trends. Seriously, it's funny how you try to accuse me of obsessing over morrissey when you don't even know me. Pppuhhleease, I just buy his albums and go to his concerts, not all that obsessive? Nope. So why don't you get with the times, in which anyone who knows anything about fashion and culture, knows that Harajuku is done. Finished, over. Ok? Sorry, but Morrissey isn't even as played out as Harajuku, because the smiths will forever be hailed as amazing, Harajuku? That's one of the most played out foreign fashion trends in years.

p.s.gauged ears? Are you trying to go for every over-played trend there is? You have the fashionability of a 13 year old girl with poor self-confidence.

as an experienced Coachella camper, going all out with a themed tent last year made all of the difference in the world. it brought so many different types of people to our tent and made the experience overall, quite more enjoyable than years past. also, having a group as large as we do, we want our campers to feel comfortable on the polo field for the 5 days we call it our home. it's backyard camping. everything is coming except the kitchen sink. :)

ok...so I am just catching on to the gauged ear thing. I didn't notice what he said earlier. I think it's funny that people can rag on others but have no further info as to who they are. afraid to put yourself out there for judgement. people are lame. I can't stand self righteous hipsters that just don't believe that their shit might stink just like the next person. I want to ask them if their hobby is themselves. ha ha. I guess I am probably just feeding the insecure, egotistical, snobbery which keeps people like that going. Bird, feel free to drunk dial. I will probably be getting people drunk at the time though.

When was the last time you was in Austin, Mr. Line?? The fashionistas be on the rise in this town! Although the hippies are still out in force, but some are making a gradual transition into the urban hipster arena. Hope you don't have a problem with my threads...

yah, I have been meaning to remind you and bird, I guess you did not recieve the memo, brokeback is sooo last year. ha ha. :) actually, I am looking forward to seeing you run around in your skivies and a cowboy hat. hot. apparently the whole running around in underwear seems to be the standard with our group. picture from above being proof.
so, I guess I am in trouble with miss Jacki Oh for attempting to pimp her out for cupcakes. yikes. I hate it when things come back and bite me in the ass. like the Austin statement. maybe I need to come back and see the high fashion areas of the city. I will retract my statement and allow for another trip to be proven wrong.

ha ha ha. you guys are the greatest. kinda like cat power. better than the best. I am getting all emotional and shit. have been distant on the boards due to all the preparation I have to accomplish in the next 6 days. let me tell you, this shit is gonna be off the mutha fuckin' chain. will be on and off pretty randomly up until the fest. just wanted to thank everyone for being supportive of our theme camp. can't wait for you all to see the work we have put into it. if I am this emotional already, wait til Bjork walks out on stage, I tend to cry when I see her. not crazy Elvis/Morrissey cry, but she gets to me everytime. ha ha. these butterflies are killing me.
ps. of course you can watch, john. along with all you other sickos too. :) all about the voyeurism.

things are getting a bit ridiculous. renting a uhaul trailer for all of our camping gear. and the group is now more than 20, I believe. the next few days will be consumed by grocery shopping for 20+ people. I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. ha ha.

man wearing all that stuff is going to be dangerous in close to 100 degree weather make sure to drink lots and lots of water.

alright, I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but I unfortunately will not be wearing harajuku attire. after all of this, it would just be too much for me to handle. the campsite will make up for the loss of wardrobe. although, I do believe that a few of our campers might be bringing some costumes. hopefully that will suffice.

Sank yooooooooooooooooooooooou! It would be cool if you kept in touch throughout the year (I wanna hear if your Wilco poster is chosen) but if not, we at least hope that you stop by our tent next year (we're already tossing around ideas).

We all said how much we liked meeting you as well and how much we enjoyed your presence in our camp.

its wednesday and I am am hitting up the board for the first time since Coach. what an amazing fucking weekend. senor, your presence was much appreciated at Camp Harajuku. so glad we got to know you(stupidest riot ever). come out to AZ for sure. you would be welcomed with open arms. Rebecca says she saw you during the lemonheads set and was laughing about being one of the only people to be watching them and then there you were.
thanks to everyone who dropped by. sorry if I didnt have the chance to really hang out and talk. keeping shit together for a camp of 20, trying to maintain my excitement, and carry on normal conversation was very difficult this year. everyone seemed really nice and am looking forward to getting to know you even better next year. so fucking stoked about the LA Times article. amazing weekend all around! thanks again.

I will mention it to him today and see what he says. tuesday might work better if that works better for you guys. let me know and I will talk to the pops. cant wait to see you. still trying to integrate myself back into society. it's been a rollercoaster.

So we wanted to do some Saturday-morning-vinyl-toy-shopping but found we couldn't get into the district without some sorta wristband. Sux 'cos there were four of us in full EGL and a few in visual-kei and the ape at the door didn't speak Amerikun. One chick managed to sneak in a baby lamb into the festival, tho.

Planning has begun for this years camp! Let's just say that Survivor: Coachella is the new Harajuku! Glad to see Senor, Bird, etc are already active. I have been chomping at the bit the last couple of weeks. See you in less than 6 months. As far as I know, our whole crew plus some will be returning this year. WOOO HOOO!!!!!

If I do end up buying a camping pass with a hotel room just to come party, I will gladly donte my parcel of land to camp harajuku. That shit was fun.

Also, since it was such a big hit last year, I think we should all bring acoustic guitars and hippie instruments and play Rage and Sublime songs long into the night, culminating in a white trash riot.

Where Is The Line
11-08-2007, 06:38 PM
ha ha. that's great, senor. I can't believe you are wussing out on the camping though. it really makes the whole experience. you should camp with us. you are invited for sure. as for the jam band, I am only down if we can perform Steve Miller Band songs as well.
mcfearless, I will try and find the article for you as well as pictures. think I have it somewhere around.
damnit, getting so pumped, so early. this year is going to blow all others out of the water.

yah, I am way too excited already. the camp formerly known as harajuku is going to blow everyone out of the water this year. can't believe all of these people are wussing out of camping this year. lame. (throat clearing)...bird.
