God, I hope they play "The Tain"

I think they will play the Tain, in the decemberists most recent newsletter

"Three years ago, in a windowless garret in Seattle, Washington, your faithful Decemberists were recording an EP called "The Tain." A certain Mr Chris Walla was helming this recording, using a console (tech-speak for a sound-board mixer thing) that had, at one point, been the house console at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. In a bizarre turn of events that can only be attributed to the Magical Properties of that console and its demanding master, Chris Walla, The Decemberists are playing at the self-same Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on July 7th, 2007. Yep, that's 07/07/07. That console would be very proud."

I got superb tickets :)

I thought this would have sold out during that myspace pre-sale alert that went out a few weeks ago... guess not. I'd rather see them at the bowl than at coachella but somehow I always end up way in the back bleachers whenever I try to get tickets for that venue. ...bleh.

parkings a nightmare too.

Wish I could go but with Coachella/Arcade Fire/Daft Punk/and possibly Interpol and Radiohead this year I'm going to have to pass, guess I'll just see them at Coachella...I hate being in debt

I am so going. Do you all think it will sell out? I can only afford the cheapest tickets, but it's tempting to hold out for the possibility of getting better for less than face. See, if it does sell out, nosebleeds are going to be scalped at triple digits on ebay. If it does not sell out, then getting amazing seats for less than face value is possible. I saw a pair of pit tickets for Sigur Ros go for less than face on ebay...too bad I wasn't in town for that. But the show at the Avalon owned all.

Just bought a pair in Section D. How's the view/sound from there? I've only been in F2, G2, P2, and the pit.

Yeah, I got section E. Looks like hard benches way off to the side. I've never sat there before, either -- anyone with experience at the bowl ever sit in D or E? They're at the cheapest price level, but physically closer than any of the other $40 seats -- what gives?

Can someone do a screenshot of the section D view? Stupid seatadvisor. Ugh, usually sites that didn't work on macs in 2003 now work, not the exact opposite.

That's section D. I got tickets there too. Figured it was better to be closer and off to the side then alllll the way up in BFE. I'm totally excited!

I imagine that they will be playing the Tain due to it being so orchestral friendly. should be over the top. I can't wait.

I hope they bring in some props, maybe stage sets and actors etc for the tain. there was a music video made for it that could carry over very well into a live setting. update: the video is finally coming out on their DVD (which i'll probably be on during the live show material) which gets released on March 20th, its called A Practical Handbook

they went from clubs to the hollywood bowl in about three years... pretty amazing considering the crane wife isn't their best (imo) nor is it the most popularly digestable.
