Will I be able to get Wifi connection anywhere in the campgrounds? Debating the pros and cons of bringing my laptop with me to Coachella. Don't want to be away from the Internet for 4 days.

Don't want to be away from the Internet for 4 days.

There are several areas where you'll be able to hop onto a computer at the campgrounds as well as in the festival so you can update your Facebook status. Campgrounds had a internet cafe type place in previous years and inside the festival there are sponsored air conditioned tents that have internet terminals you can get on for a few minutes. I usually pop in between some sets. Upload pics from my flashcard.

Yes bring it
there are absolutely no reasons as to why you shouldn't
carry it around with you at all times

This!
Absolutely nothing can go wrong if you bring it. And God forbid you're off the internet for a weekend.

I wanted to bring mine so I could play music off of it but something about leaving an expensive piece of technology inside a car during triple digit weather sounds bad.

If u want someone else to own it...by all means bring it.

Bring clothes, some food, water, beer and drugs....leave the rest at home.

Think as if you'd have to carry it all weekend...if you wouldn't want to hike all day with it ...leave it. Even if u know it's staying at your camp site.

leave it at home

it is fun to take a 4 day break from the internet when you look at it sometime Monday you will be pretty f'in surprised how many unread emails, facebook notifications, ect you have.

The only reason I would want a labtop would be to unload pics and video from my camera. But instead of risking damaging (100+ degree weather in a locked car can not be good) or getting it stolen I am just going to buy additional portable storage for my camera.

One of the best parts of this festival is getting away from society and enjoying the immediate environment.

Why when I was a kid, we didn't have the internet, and when we did, it was called Prodigy, and you had to call someone to let you on the internet, a dial up it was. You had to go on a BBS to get a scan of a playboy magazine. Now you kids have your fancy schmancy streaming porn.

No appreciation.

Don't bring it... I have to bring mine for my DJ set on Saturday, and I"m freaking out about where I'm gonna leave it. I don't want it melted or stolen!

MP3 player + portable speaker.
I bought this last year (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YEKM0U) and it actually worked well.

i'm bringing a netbook, but i'm not camping, and i'm not taking it into the festival.

i get lazy about uploading pics when i get back, so being able to do it right away is a good thing.

Unfortunately, not all of us have jobs that allow us to be away from technology for 5 days (all day drive on Thursday and Monday included). My job requires that I at least respond to urgent emails, which I can't know about unless I have a PDA or laptop. I am bringing my PDA, but it sounds like I will also need to hit up the internet cafe place to check my work stuff over the external network.

Personally, I think it is a BAD idea to bring it. Not only do you have to worry about the sun, you have to worry about some drunk person going to change the song and then, oops, spilling their beer all over your laptop. Bring a MP3/iPod/iPhone/Android at most with some speakers to attach (very cheap usually).

I was thinking about doing the exact same thing, except just buying something like this from Best Buy then returning it after the weekend is over.
