Hello all, I'm flying in on thursday and an making the long drive in from LAX. At least I assume its going to be long... Anyways, I'm a beer nerd and was looking for a place to buy some decent beer (microbrews or other good stuff in cans). Is there anything along the way? I was planning on taking 60 half way there and then jumping on 10 for the second half.

Any recommendations on local beers? I'm going to be an cali for 10 nights so you can recommend bottles too (cans for coachella obviously).

Thanks in advance from a coachella virgin.

Most likely, yes

Most likely, yes

So I'm guessing total wine would be the better choice, being a little bit off the beaten path...

I'm not really sure there is one of those that is on route to the desert from LAX, although I'm not familiar with the chain. Anywhere outside of Palm Desert will be plenty stocked, so just check for locations on your way. Or risk it when you get to the desert.

Once again, better to stock up on the ride out than when you get closer.

Try the Beverage Warehouse. It's right by LAX

4935 Mcconnell Avenue # 21
Los Angeles, CA 90066
(310) 306-2822

Also - the drive shouldn't be too bad especially compared to the trip most others are making. It shouldn't take more than 2.5 hours unless you plan on going Friday.

Total Wine is always better, cheaper and more plentiful in choice than BevMo. If you can find one, I highly recommend.

I'm from the Inland Empire aka the middle lands right before Indio, and my absolute favorite local brewery is Hangar 24 in Redlands (http://www.hangar24brewery.com/). It's just off the 10 freeway, like only 5 minutes north of the 10, and they an amazing selection. Check it out.

The Beverage Warehouse is pretty awesome but it's not 'right by LAX'. Also it's a little hard to find. Better off going to BevMo on Rosecrans and then getting heading to Palm Springs/Indio via the 105/605/10. Avoids downtown LA traffic. There's also a Trader Joes and Fresh n Easy in the same area.

anybody know where i can find Four Loko reliably? I typically drink better than that but have never tried it and figure the desert is just the place to alcohol poison myself.

I don't personally drink beer any more, however, as far as bottled beer goes I have always enjoyed tossing back a nice cold (altho not a "local") Pacifico or Negra Modelo... They are both of the Mexican variety and very yummy in my opinion. mmmmmmmm

There is a BevMo near Jefferson & Hwy. 111 ( on Costco Dr.) and a Trader Joes on Washington, both in La Quinta and just down the street for the polo grounds.
