View Full Version : Wristbands: Are prices going up or down?

kroqken

I was wondering that since the wristbands are out, are prices going up, down or staying the same online? figure the prices may have briefly dropped in price, but once there is little supply lefrt, then the prices by the brokers and resellers will shoot way up.

Prices have been coming down slightly on stubhub and ebay. But everyone on craigslist has been asking $500-$700 each which is up.

Prices are way down this week, especially if you can snag a UPS package sitting on someone's doorstep!

What is declining "slightly" on ebay? Like $50 on aveage. I am so glad I found a broker who not only sold me a wristband for $600 but he accepted installments. Kind of like a "reseller layaway."

and why didn't you use regular layaway and pay half that price? not like you are a rookie or anything.

i think prices will go up the week of,i remember last year they were selling well over 600 the week of on CL

I wouldn't use CL as a barometer for selling prices. I watched a festival pass + car camping auction end with 0 bids and a starting price of $599 on eBay a couple days ago.

I think the prices are pretty low right now, I'm seeing $400ish on eBay... But as high as $1,000 on CL... I'm thinking that as the hype starts to build again, the prices will steadily increase... I'm assuming that last minute tickets will be either hella expensive or not at all...

wait till this weekend...prices are going WAY UP!
People that get paid on the 1st will finally have the money they need. Bidding is going to go up and up till the festival date.

I expect prices this weekend in the $600.

I've been watching eBay and seen the valley which was the past 2 weeks....I see it creeping up again....3 days ago they were closing at $450...last single ticket I watched (at 10:48am Weds) closed at $515.

prices are headed back up.

If you jump on eBay there are still 700 listings (most with no bids yet) and that doesn't include stubhub or other sites. Supply is certainly not dwindling

$525 right now on stubhub.

It was $500 earlier today.

I'd buy now if you don't have tickets.

ebay is cheaper due to the premium placed on the stubhub guarantee.

Not nearly all of the wristbands are in hand. I'd wait til next week to purchase. The price will probably drop.

The best is simply to find someone who isn't trying to scalp. That will always beat market price.

It seems like a lot of listing are just being pulled from stubhub causing the price increase. If you check the sales for the day most were around $500 or less. The ticket inventory has gone down by about 100 since last night and there have been no sales between like $500 and the current prices of $540.

that number has been pretty steady for a while now.

ebay inventory is up probably like 100 over the past week
stubhub is up like 200 over the past couple of weeks
craigslist is up a little but you can't really track that

still not a huge increase in supply considering a 75k capacity

prices could drop thur fri next week on stub hub (I think Fri is the last day to sell the standard way on stub hub) cause some people might just want to unload their tickets and avoid ebay.

After Fri you have to do LMS on stub hub.

BUT prices should go up on ebay after next Friday because all of those stub hub tickets will be removed.

you actually think someone is going to give up their coachella ticket for $150 because they accidentally typed in 150 instead of 550? Just because an auction ends doesn't mean the seller HAS to sell the item for the end price.

An auction (even one such as eBay) creates a binding contract between a buyer and seller. Now if the seller decides to breach the contract, you are right, the buyer doesn't have much remedy given cost/benefit. eBay does not have any responsibility to enforce/arbitrate/mediate as it's just providing a vehicle between buyer and seller. Therefore, it'd be up to the buyer to seek counsel to enforce the contract (or go at it alone). No attorney is going to take the case, and it's typically not worth trying to enforce the contract.

Contract law also recognizes mistake as a way to make a contract voidable by one of the parties (i.e. seller in this case). If the seller clearly offered a bargain that the buyer jumped on the seller could have mistake as a defense if the matter went to court. But it would never go to court, unless we're talking serious money or a truly unique item.

This auction was for charity if you read the details. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but lo and behold, the seller may have not really understood the FMV of the ticket. Who knows. My guess is the seller will breach and the buyer will be SOL.

Yea...you can also take the negative feedback and say f you ...that's nit my route but an option

You can also send an empty box and say...it was taken..not my fault...again,..not the way I would go.

There is NO way they sell a ticket for $150 and give it away for that price.

I disagree. Someone could have gotten the ticket for Free or as a gift. I'm not saying you are wrong, but I don't think it's unbelievable that someone got lucky and found a ticket for $150.

The market is getting flooded with extra wristbands, camping passes, etc.

Will be shocked if the scalpers can continue to rape people next week. Hold outs like myself are ready for the next level back into the 350 range. Put in the effort and use patience. It will happen

The seller could do that shit where they add an extra charge when they send the invoice,Like a bullshit "labor & processing" charge or something like that,That happens sometimes when the seller didn't get the amount they wanted

Now the item has relisted. Yet eBay still shows me as the winning bidder. Waiting to see how this plays out in the next 24 hours...

PS: I already have mine (well, not in hand yet, holding my breath) from buying December 11. But friends want to go, and heck they can have my original GA if I can get 2 sweet VIP!! :)

I do realize it is very smart to name a price and stick to it (to avoid going over your budget or what you are willing to pay).

BUT 350 is less than a 10% markup (passes cost 320 with shipping). For a sold out event buying a ticket for a less than 10% markup might be hard (unless you literally wait until the last second).

Good luck on your search.

The market listings may be in the $500-600 range, but if you email those sellers and offer a lower price, they are willing to sell for $400-450.

well stub hub has 87 car camping passes. A few days ago they had 40 or so.

stub hub currently has 2 car camping passes listed at 199 (total cost with fees/shipping 236).

A few days ago the car camping passes on stub hub were mid 200's

A week or so (if I recall correctly) high 200's and low 300's

then for the previous months mid 300's

right after it sold out (in jan) it was higher than mid 300's for a couple of days.

So the prices are going down on stub hub (the only place I would by from). Yes stub hub is more expensive but it is safer than the other site. And if I was looking to buy a camping pass it would be willing to pay the extra $20 for that safety.

thedude15
04-06-2011, 08:28 AM

I meant 2 car camping passing are listed for 199 as in

1 car camping pass is listed for 199
AND
1 other car camping pass is listed for 199

If you can afford to wait until the last second (ie 6 days from now when stub hub ends sales for coachella) I see no reason why you can not buy a car camping pass on stub at a total cost to you of 200 or less (which seems reasonable). A pass with a total cost of 200 would have a list price of 166 on stub hub.

stub hub prices for wristbands have been steady this week. Most of the time mid 500's then every know and then a cheaper ticket pops up (ie high 400's low 500's) and it get bought fast.

car camping has fallen A LOT on stub hub. One is listed at 190 right now.

With regards to car camping going up I might disagree. People that are buying wristbands are only buying them a week in advance. Thus there is little time to plan (get time off work make travel arrangements ect).

Thus the people buying the wristbands either need lots of time or $$$
could be
a.) College students (lots of time plus they can easily skip class without prior notice).
b.) rich people? not so much. Generally rich means older and in general Coachella is not for the older group (there ARE exceptions).

For the "average" Coachella fan that lives out of state (and has a job) it is getting kind of late to buy a ticket.

In other words many of the people buying tickets are local (close enough to go home after they leave for the night) or are grouping up with other people that ALREADY have camping space (ie there have been many cases were only 3 out of 10 friends bought a ticket early, well in a few more friends by a ticket they can always camp with the friends who bought the stuff early).

I don't think that's a correct assessment. I've seen a few more Buy It Now listings today than on Monday that have a price close to $400. Looking at completed auctions, there are many that ended below $500 and a few that ended with 1 bid near $450. One even ended at $348.

Others have pointed out that supply is increasing, as more people are receiving their wristbands from GV and are desperate to unload. I believe demand will also decrease, as people find the wristbands they want and exit the market.

It's probably also less likely as time passes that people will suddenly decide to enter the market. Before last year, an increase in demand within the last 10-14 days would be much more likely, since people could decide to go for only 1 or 2 days.

As Shaggyduck keeps pointing out, be patient and stay firm on your max price.

The sad thing is that as the ticket prices drop, the number of scammers will go up... their reasonable price will seem more legit than $300 vs. $550.

I hate the way these things turn out. I wish this event wasn't so "hip" that every bro felt the need to go... I don't want to have to travel to get to a chill festival where I can drink an alcoholic beverage and enjoy a beautiful day with some music and nobody having a mild stroke over their tickets.

trusting a CL ad is like trusting the hooker you found on CL when she says she doesn't have any std's.

The only source I'd trust are
1 - ebay from someone with over 100 transactions and a 100% feedback
2 - stubhub

My no way in hell list-
Criagslist- don't care the price they have listed or anything...no fucking way. They could hand you a wristband that IS the actual one, but could have ordered replacements and the one you now have is VOID...and you won't get your money back.

Advice if you are going through CL - get the persons Drivers License info IN PERSON...write down everything....if they are shaddy they'll say no...if they give it to you you have a shot.

The other problem people are going to run into REAL SOON is shipping....it's not going to be the cost it's going to be if they can get you the wristband in time.

Whether they are scams are not is beside the point, and some of these ads are legit. Prices are coming down slightly and slowly on both eBay and CL. I'm simply comparing apples to apples.

Scored another 2 passes and a Car Camping pass for $620 today.

Just gotta find the right people. Girl in Houston who wanted to go, but couldn't due to school obligations. She's gonna go to Lollapalooza later this year. Wasn't looking to cash-in big, just wanted her money back and was grateful I wanted to buy them. She thanked me.

DON'T GET SCALPED

trusting a CL ad is like trusting the hooker you found on CL when she says she doesn't have any std's.

The only source I'd trust are
1 - ebay from someone with over 100 transactions and a 100% feedback
2 - stubhub

I still would be skeptical of a "protection plan" with 100 percent positive feedback. I got mine at a ticket agency. I have the physical street address, his business number and personal cell phone number.

With a couple of days left, what is the latest for prices on Ebay, Stubhub, Craig's Infamous List, etc.?

Of course, most people who want to really go already have a ticket, unless they are a victim of the Great Recession.

they're definately going down and fast too, talked one guy to 275 and then he bailed saying he had someone else. second offer today below 300. i think i might even wait til day of show and try ripping off one of the scalpers heading into the show.

i wonder if they'll let me run it through an rfid scanner at a checkpoint to check if it's legit?

not everyone on CL wants to scamp you. Some people like ME have no other way to sell our wristbands because we had to cancelled our trip last minute ;)

thanks!

I was wondering that since the wristbands are out, are prices going up, down or staying the same online? figure the prices may have briefly dropped in price, but once there is little supply lefrt, then the prices by the brokers and resellers will shoot way up.

I NEED 2 TICKETS IF YOU HEAR OF ANY. JOHN
