my sister was blasting her radio just now.. and I overheard a phone number to call and win... I didn't even know the prize.. and I won free tickets to a movie and dinner... not bad since I'm a stoner... Has anyone ever won something fucking awesome? I played the fantasy 5 california lottery once and got 4 out of 5 and won 400 bucks once.. that's the best for me.

I won the $25 raffle a few months ago for using my own bags.

I've won $300 in another raffle and a variety of concert tickets. Also, winning at Scrabble always feels pretty damn good.

Yesterday at work I won tickets to a hockey game for March 17th. I get to watch it from my employer's suite.

The biggest thing I've won was a trip to Toronto plus tickets to Lollapalooza back in 1995.

I won an all expenses paid trip (for 2) to the Esperanza Resort in Cabo. It is a 5 star resort and was insane, my wife and I got $100 cash each night there was not a set dinner (x2). And we got 2 all day spa treatments.

It's the resort where Gweneth Paltrow and Chris Martin celebrated her birthday, Madonna's been there, and other stars.

I also had one of the best days surfing in my life at Zippers (a break about 15 miles away) - 14-16 footers, perfect form, with the water about 80 degrees.

Back in 03 I won tickets to go to Coldplay's acoustic set for Star 98.7's Star Lounge performance. It was just about 100 people + Coldplay + Ryan Seacrest, and recorded in a studio at The Capitol Records building in LA. Despite Ryan Seacrest it was pretty much one of the most amazing things ever and most definitely the best thing I've ever won.

well I have a story for you: I won a $300 blown glass bong at a fundraising show at a bar here featuring local bands. The benefit was for a little baby who had eye cancer--bummer! but the prizes were really cool.

I was really hoping for the mountain bike but was delighted, and have been ever since, with this custom made bong. Wish you could see it!

Oh yeah, within the same weekend, I won access to the front part of small club in 2003 to see an acoustic set by Coldplay with just 2 of them (singer and guitarist).

Then the NEXT day, I also won access to Coldplay's warmup set (along with several other kids) in which they played 4 or 5 songs. They let one girl sing harmony with Chris on "In My Place," and they gave a harmonica to this other kid. All of us there got to get autographs as well.

I also went to the main show later that evening. That was an awesome weekend during Coldplay's peak.

Once I won floor tickets to see Radiohead at San Diego in the HTTT tour.
And before that I won a raffle at Wherehouse for the first place in line to buy tickets for the same show.
So it was meant to be that I had to see my favorite band from a rad spot.

That's awesome! Yeah but I think that's like the last time really that they did stuff like that. I never hear of anybody having those kinds of up close experiences with them recently. Or at least during their tours/promotions for X&Y, they got just too huge and untouchable and that's always sad.

Oh and I don't know if this counts as "won" or anything, but it's along the lines of awesome band experiences. This past Friday the 3rd I was front row at Snow Patrol's sold out gig at the Gibson Amphitheatre, and I got chosen to come up on stage and sing Set The Fire To The Third Bar (Duet, normally sang with Martha Wainwright) with the lead singer. As they are my favorite band you can imagine I was pretty fucking excited.

I enter every contest ever. I'm a sucker for free shit. So far, my winnings have thus been:

In elementary school I won an autographed Robin Ventura baseball. I hate baseball, and I don't know who that is.

A few weeks ago I won a Lonestar CD. LONESTAR. But I guess that's what I get for going to a free flapjacks breakfast. Little did I know those flapjacks were laced with the evil of local country radio. :poo

Saddest part: I was still kinda excited both times. Minus the kinda.

I won an all-expenses paid trip to Superbowl XXX in Arizona, in 1996, in a London newspaper. I was 17 years old, and I took my Mum with me which was awesome cause we were both going through a really hard time back then and desperately needed a holiday. They paid for our flights and our hotels and our tickets to the game, and even gave us cash to spend while we were there. It was a good game too; Cowboys beat the Steelers 27-17.
