Alright guys, so I'm staying in a house that's 2.5 miles from the festival but since I've always camped I have no idea what's the best option for getting to/from the festival, especially with a short distance as such.

Walk? Wouldn't be bad going there but I have a feeling I'd be way over walking back

Shuttle? How much of a clusterfuck are these post-festival?

Taxi? Also potential clusterfuck and likely much more $$ than shuttle?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated...

I'm with Dani. Ride your bike. Just don't get a BWI.

If you walk, it'll easily take you 45 min - 1 hour depending on how fast you walk.

If you ride a bike, it'll take you probably about 10-15 minutes, again, depending on your speed.

There are places to lock up your bike, and no waiting for taxi. Besides, riding your bike you'll use your muscles differently making it a more enjoyable experience. In other words, if you've been walking around all day, why on earth would you want to walk another 2.5 miles?

Then GV needs to come up with some better options for bike storage.

I third the bike idea. Indio is pretty flat, should be easy. Be sure to have a bike light and all your reflectors. You might even want to liven it up with glow and what not. I might bring my bike to transverse the campgrounds. I never even found the showers last year...

If you choose walk on Friday, I predict that you will be taking a taxi on Saturday.

You're gonna feel the walk back akin to a deathmarch, especially if you're in a gated community that has designated entrances and exits. I'm biking for the first time this year, and I'm as far away as you.

Would love to bike but unfortunately thats not an option, got a group of 5 people and bikes for all is not a reality...

Yeah I figured walking back would be torture, so its down to taxi v. shuttle

But really, there are no shuttles (official ones) that drop you this close to the fest. And by the time you get a taxi at night, you could've walked home about 17 times, tired or not.

There is a cool lady who runs an unofficial donation-only shuttle with her SUV and she's awesome. She picks you up at your condo/house in the morning and takes you as far as she can (still 3/4 of a mile or so from the gate b/c traffic is prohibitied at a certain point) and picks you up at the taxi stand every night, which is still quite a walk, but it's worth it not to have to keep going. Check your PMs for name and #.

Bah, who needs bikes for all. Or you can just get 2 recumbent tandems and tell your 5th to toss off:

It's been discussed elsewhere, but there are places not far from the fest that bikes can be rented from for a good price

Most places were running out of bikes weeks ago. I phoned months in advance to most of the Palm Springs-area bike rentals to put in reservations for 8 of us, and they were all "DON'T WORRY BRAH, CALL A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE COACHELLAFEST, AND WE'LL SORT YA OUT."

Anyway, I called a couple of weeks later after reading a thread here
http://coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45320

And a lot of places were selling out. Act quick!

Knowing Sparty, he'll be way too fucked up to do anything but stumble his way back to his palace of fine parts in the heart of Indio. Walk it up buddy, cops are dicks
