This is a thread where we discuss all the great songs by various artists that never ended up on a proper album and might have gotten lost in the shuffle, even to devoted fans. Singles, b-sides, rarities, compilation appearances, live stuff, covers, splits, and anything else obscure. You can post about a band who has a ton of underappreciated rare tracks, or just a single track by a well known artists you think gets passed up too often, or ask for suggestion on essential non-album tracks from a particular artist.

Oasis has a lot of great B-sides. The Masterplan (their b-side comp) doesn't even have all their best ones. 'The Fame' (one of the All Around the World b-sides) is my favorite Oasis song - Noel sings it, and it just roars. A few other good ones not on The Masterplan:

Round Are Way
Step Out
My Sister Lover
(I Got) The Fever
Flashbax
Let's All Make Believe

Prince also has a bunch of great B-sides. A lot of them are on the 3rd disc to The Hits/The B-sides set that was put out in the mid 90's. My favorites:

Erotic City
Hello
(Gotta Stop) Messin' About
Irresistible Bitch
Shockadelica
Girl
17 Days

"Cuttooth" is the best Radiohead b-side, followed closely by most of the other Amnesiac b-sides. If you are a Radiohead fan and have not listened to them, do so now.

And Nine Inch Nails' "Closer to God," the reworked, recorded version of "Closer" complete with a different chorus is the superior version I think...

Also NIN, the "Piggy (Nothing can stop me now)" version of the song wsill always remain the definitive version.

My favorite Elbow b-side comes from the Ground for Divorce single:

If you love the rockier side or SSK, you will definitely like this.

do soundtracks count as an album?

do soundtracks count as an album?

i would consider if a band has a song exclusive on a soundtrack that doesn't appear on one of their own albums as qualifying as a non-album track.

This is one of my favorite things Modest Mouse has ever done, a 14-minute collaboration with some band called 764-HERO. Let yourself get lost in it.

It's the b-side to a single that Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson of Minor Threat recorded in England, and it's one of my favorite MacKaye songs.

Pretty much everything on the first three discs of Springsteen's Tracks box. His buried stuff is better than the recorded discographies of almost everyone else.

A particular favorite:
