So I have been reading alot of stuff like, 'Oh great, looks like another 90's revival" because bands like RHCP, RATM, Beasties, Bjork, Pearl Jam, Pumpkins, etc are kinda making a comeback and headlining fests and such and I am just curious as to what bands of, lets say the past 5 years or so, could headline a major festival like Coachella, Roo, Lolla? Coldplay did it and let's be honest, still could and maybe the Killers could but I doubt it. Muse...but people say not in the states. Arcade Fire comes to mind but it seems like they are always the pre headliner. Who else is out there to headline that is relatively new?

I dont think Killers (never) or Arcade Fire (yet) could headline a festival. In fact I cant think of any bands right off the top of my drunk head (hey, I'm going to see Eric clapton tonight).

ps I love parentheses

This thread title is weak. Draw the reader in, man. This gives me nothing. Oh, click here if you want to read a question.

I'm tired of questions. People ask me too many questions every day. Let's start making thread titles better. There is a serious slippage in quality here. C'mon.

There will not be an increase in quality until July 22

I like that you're hungover this late in the day. That's pretty cool.

OK, go to the top post that you made and hit the button that says "Edit." The top field will have the thread title available to edit. Then hit "save."

Then go grab a beer and pat yourself on the back. Job well done.

Yeah, I tried that before and it doesn't give me an option to change the title just the body of the message. And yeah, today has been a rough one. Work sucked. Can still taste the Petrone

I feel like if they ever went major, Broken Social Scene could do it eventually. They make pop music...they're tons of fun...why the hell not. Same for The New Pornos.

I think Interpol could in like 5 years. TV On the Radio in like 7.

Secret Machines could've in a few years too...but now they're set back

Oh how you are my best friend for saying that. God what a great band with so much potential. Hopefully they will be able to continue on and find a replacement.

You're undermining the large financial backing between the 14-17 year old Hollister crowd.

Coldplay and Kanye West are the two guys that can headline festivals. But for the most part it takes awhile for a band to be able to gain the fan base it requires to headline a major festival. I think the White Stripes can especially after Icky Thump comes out. Arcade Fire will probably be headliners when their third album comes out. Muse is getting bigger and bigger every day it seems in the US. The Strokes could probably headline if they ever reach their full potential. Other bands that have the potential to be headliners one day: Interpol, TVOTR, YYYs, Arctic Monkeys (question is if they can ever become that popular here in the US) that's all i can think of.

White Stripes and Arcade Fire are pretty much guaranteed, Yeah Yeah Yeahs absolutely should soon enough (they got a great response from the festival circuit last year) and I think Interpol will end up being a big deal for this decade, they're not far off. Arctic Monkeys need another two albums, but their performance quality is already there. Some day maybe Bloc Party, I have a lot of hope for them. And if A Perfect Circle wasn't done for (theoretically, I'm still holding out for a fourth album when everyone's schedules empty out again) they definitely could.
