Loved that performance. Still, the radio edit really takes something away from the song. If there's no conflicts, Im definitely checking him out

i didn't catch his performance on the Grammys last night, and i still intend to catch his set at Coachella, but i just saw his show in San Diego last Thursday & it was fucking terrible. dude shows up an hour late (1 AM), plays for less than 30 mins., and left a good majority of the vocals to the audience and the backing vocal track on the music. i know he's a better performer than that, it was just very apparent that he didn't give half a shit about the show or the people who came to see it. very disappointing.

Pardon my ignorance, but why is everybody saying they're not missing Cee Lo Green? Is he a good live performer? puts a good show? or what? I just started listening to him so I don't really know about him, besides he's most recent hit "Fuck You" or "Forget You" but I wouldn't mind watching his performance.
Thanks in advance.

Hard to disagree, but his range and ability to push past a certain genre of music makes his 3 projects very close in quality, perhaps more than just a 1,2,3.
I always thought Goodie Mob was as good as Outkast, all because of CeeLo's voice and rapping ability. My favorite work of his is "Odd Couple". If you are just discovering CeeLo....get that Gnarles Barkley cd and take a long drive. "St. Elsewhere" is also great, but not arranged as well.
His new cd is so good. "Fuck You", even if it wasn't on the radio, is the worst song on that new cd. Not saying it's a bad song, but if you give each song a good listen and appreciate his voice, it is the worst. Bright Lights, Wildflower, Satisfied, I Want You, Cry Baby, Old Fashioned, No One's Gonna Love You...basically the entire album is so well done. After the Gorillaz fizzle last year, I am not going to expect muppets, Elton John outifts, or any crazy stuff. His voice is enough and I cant fucking wait.

Goodie Mob is so much more than Cee Lo! I think he really tied them together, though.
The Coach
02-16-2011, 11:16 PM
Couldn't agree more. Goodie Mob was very fluid and just sounded right, each and every member. He was just the guy that floated to the top first because of his distinct voice and talent. His wikipedia page says that now that Lady Killer is done he is focusing on new Goodie Mob material. He is Jack White busy, and that Goodie Mob reunion is going to be insane.

My GF is a fan of his new album, so I got tickets to see Cee Lo with Big Boi at Club Nokia last week. Having seen Gnarls Barkley twice (Coachella & The Hollywood Bowl), I knew not to expect too much from a live Cee Lo performance.
Evening results: Big Boi was amazing. Cee Lo was awful. The difference in the vibe of the crowd between the two acts was tremendous. Big Boi was on point, plus did a lot of Outkast tracks. Cee Lo's set was plagued with technical difficulties. Some artists can cover smoothly and entertain an audience when little things go wrong, but Cee Lo had nothing. He just sat on stage and waited for things to be fixed. Even after the technical issues were resolved, the performance was lackluster. The first portion of his set was with The Goodie Mob, and that didn't even reach the level of energy Big Boi kept up through his entire set. The Cee Lo portion picked up a little bit when he sang a couple Gnarls tracks and ended with "Fuck You." But still pretty weak.
I don't need to see Cee Lo a fourth time.

Anyone know what Cee-Lo's set list is looking like these days?
While I'm amused by his recent solo effort, I'd drop everything and run to his set if he's playing tracks from St. Elsewhere or The Odd Couple.

Went to see Cee Lo & Ting Tings a few hours ago on The Strip. Great show. It should be aired at some point but I don't know on which station. It was produced by Red Bull & called Sound Clash. Cee Lo brought out the rest of Goodie Mob for a track and they were solid as ever.

hey i was there too! i was actually kind of disappointed in cee lo tonight. seemed like his sound was all sorts of fucked at the beginning, but it did get better around round 3. maybe my expectations were too high, because i thought he was going to murder ting tings (especially after his grammy performance and ting tings lackluster '09 coachella appearance).
on the other hand, i thought ting tings were incredible. they were a million times better tonight than their coachella set.
regardless, the soundclash is an incredibly cool concept, and i hope they come back. the turnout was surprisingly good despite the strokes playing, neon reverb, and some other shows all going on. i'm jealous of people in texas who get snoop dogg vs ghostland observatory next week.

Ting Tings version of Smiley Faces was superb. I dug the remix of Crazy Cee Lo did in the begining. Nobody seemed to get into it :(

03-13-2011, 12:21 AM
we started off at cee lo's stage and eventually ended up at ting ting's stage partly because of the crowds. cee lo's crowd was simply lame, whereas ting tings crowd was really energetic and into the music. you're right, i loved the faster version of crazy he did, but when almost nobody was dancing/singing along, i realized it was time to bounce over to ting ting's stage.
hopefully cee lo will have a better crowd at coachella, and i hope he brings those same chicks who were playing with him. they were all pretty damn hot, especially that guitarist.
