Best set I saw in 2010 was Duck Sauce at EDC.

So amazing, so fresh, so funky. Screw electro, screw dubstep, screw the noise, I'm ready.

Their remix of the Members - Radio still hasn't been released yet and i'm pissed at A-trak and Helden for holding this back for a over a year now ( they played it at WMC as well)

You didn't see swedish house mafia?

NOPE! I avoided the whole main room all together and after listening to the all the live sets, I didn't miss shit.

Wolfgang had a better set than he did at Coachella last year and it was a perfect act to go before Duck Sauce.

I cried with joy on the inside when I saw the huge duck balloon on stage.

What do you consider electro? If you are thinking of any Ed Banger artists, think again. Think Afrika Bambaatta. Think Egyptian Lover.

While I do enjoy Duck Sauce, I wouldn't look to them as the torch bearers of any EDM renaissance. Some of the artists bound for the Pure Filth stage are much more forward thinking.

Electro house, of course I get down to Bambaatta.

Duck Sauce isn't revolutionary but they are something different. They are one of the first artists in the house genre to break the electro-ish mold.

The two artists I will for sure be in the sahara for. And the Presets. I was reading an interview online where Armand was saying how he doesn't really listen to techno/electronic outside of the music he makes, mostly old school hip hop and funky shit on his own time. You can kind of hear it in Duck Sauce.

And yes, it's nothing new... there was enough disco house between '98 to '02. But it's been awhile, and it's about time EDM reclaimed the D.

House isn't necessarily my field of expertise. Hated on it till Coachella of last year when I got slammed with Pretty Lights (not house but my first Sahara set and it fucking jammed) and Wolfgang Gartner. Who are some of these old disco house artists you speak of? Because I loved Duck Sauce's sound right off the bat and I could go for some more disco mixed with funk mixed with house.

I don't remember any major DJs who were primarily "disco house" DJs (although the Phat Conductor was a rising DJ from Toronto who spun primarily disco house around that time)... but a lot of DJs, specifically Chicago house DJs, were throwing in funky/disco-tinged tracks into their sets frequently. A few that come to mind are Josh tha Funky 1, Bad Boy Bill, and DJ Dan (yes, not from Chicago, I know)..

Duck Sauce would be the closest to a "disco house" act as I remember seeing...

When, you mean?? I remember seeing him twice in the early 2000s... 2001ish, once at a WEMF and once at the Docks, I believe, where the sets were primarily DH with some breaks thrown in there... seems he transitioned to primarily breaks after that.

Of course, the memory regarding times and places is a little shady from that time period, so all should be taken with a grain of salt.

He's back in town tonight to play Mighty. Have to give him some shit about it.

However, Your memory might be mixing up the very old classic funk & soul style breaks he used to play with "disco".

Very well could be the case. That time period was a bit...excessive... for me. And seeing as how one time was at WEMF... like the 60's, if you remember all of WEMF you probably weren't there.

Which segues into another conversation... what exactly is disco house? It shares a large grey area with funky house IMO. But I guess at that point, it's primarily semantics anyway.
