The ones I have had for the past 3 years finally met their fate. I used to have these Logitech speakers

Those Logitech ones were good, but I feel its time to step my game up. So when we factor in price, battery power, mobility, and sound quality/loudness, do any speakers stand out too you guys?

I went with the Bose Sounddock Portable.

Great sound and very portable.
I get about a 7 hour battery life at medium volume.

Downside is it's expensive and the other players have caught up to Bose in quality.

a friend loves this:

www.skullyboom.com!!!

Company is local and the speakers are fuckign RIDICULOUSLY loud. My friend was shooting a documentary on the flat irons in Boulder, CO and had to do some serious rock climbing, and bashed his Skullyboom around something fierce, and you can barely see the scuff marks, and the thing is still loud as shit. I think they even have a blue tooth one for wireless speakers! Such an awesome product.

Dani, can you explain the Paul Frank-GV connection? Like, I know Christian Jacobs and Paul Frank are good friends, and I know Christian Jacobs and Paul Tollett are also good friends... is this the connection?

Sorry, random question, I have just been curious since that Paul Frank Coachella T-shirt of 09.

pretty sure there is not much more to it than that.

A couple of years ago I picked up these portable speakers from AudioSource and have been very pleased. I was traveling a lot and portability, durability, and sound quality were my priorities. I needed it to be able to fit into the bottom of my backpack (or pocket), be durable enough to take a beating, and still produce very good sound. These speakers excel on all three counts. They run on four AA batteries or USB power. I also used them with my notebook pc for watching movies. They get surprisingly loud--enough to be practical for outside use, e.g., beach party or bbq.

^ when folded like this they are practically indestructable.

Highly recommended if size/portability is your priority.

Haha, oh ok. Also, considering that somewhat bizzare friendship triangle, are you friends with Paul Frank too?

^ nice.

The portability is great, no question. Not as great for external notebook pc speakers as mine being that they are omnidirectional, monophone, no USB power capability, and I'm guessing not nearly as loud. But fine for iPod use I'm sure.

nope, hung out with him several times throughout the years, but not on a first name basis or anything. random note: i sold him my paul frank aquabats wallet for $300 since he didn't have one.

How loud they go is damn important.

My priorities in order are
1.) loudness/sound quality
2.) Mobility
3.) price (im willing to spend some $ because i consider my ipod speakers a pretty prime investment)

this is what i've been using for a while now and i've been very happy with it... used it indoors or out for poker games with friends... lasted me a long time now... also the biggest plus is it has a rechargeable battery (back when i bought this most didn't have this feature) and i would've had to buy TONS of batteries that would've been bad for the environment and my wallet!!! sound was loud enough for my needs but you would want to change sound options on ipod to "reduce base" if you wanted full volume
