jack beats is an (amazing) act on the lineup. OFF is another act on the lineup. them being billed next to each other on the poster makes it look like it reads "jack beats off", as in masturbates. but i jerk off every time i hear jack beats, so it seemed redundant. (jack beats had 4 of my top 10 non-coachella sets of last year btw)

I really enjoyed their essential mix, but I've yet to see them live. Every event I go to that has them playing, they are conflicting with one of my "must-sees". Any highlights you guys can share with me?

The Jack Beats remix of "Drop The Pressure" by Project Bassline is one of my alltime favorite brolectro jams.

And I consider myself an elder statesman of brolectro.

im a huge JB fan, but the essential mix was just okay imo, so if u liked it, ull LOVE the dj set..jack beats, for the most part, play there own tracks..and Hard13, EDC, Hard Haunted, and TAO sets were AMAZING!! "Get Off" is a great track.. there is pretty good footage on YT of the last 15-20min of the TAO set, with the midnight countdown inside the LA sports arena..

i was dead sober at EDC and caught them fucking up at least 4 times in their mixing, they also played a-trak's remix of "heads will roll" literally 15 minutes after trv$ a-trak did. i looked around at all the cross-eyed 16 yr olds standing around me and judging by the look on their faces nobody else seemed to notice. heard good things from some friends about their hard haunted set, though i was melting over at boys noize at the time.

ps moby dropped "get down" during his dj set at EDC. pretty silly

moby dropped the same Beats track about 20min apart, fail. and i was sober for the edc show (the weakest of the 4), but they redemed it with the last 20min of the set.. and travsdjam played Mind Dimension about 30min after bloody beetroots did at coachella 09, so it works out lol..

ive noticed that all of my fav electro acts are duos..i think they get a fuller sound when they have one mixing over the other spinning like jack beats do.. they parked next to me at hard13, killthenoise was their driver, nice guys..they blew away Fake Blood that night, no small feat

seanxpaul
01-31-2011, 09:59 PM
i thought moby dropped Get Up? (unless im mixing them up again), either way he played the same beats track about 20min apart, fail.

i witnessed that too, someone told me that the first time was actually just a filler song played between djs. still, pretty retarded move IMO

i'll probably catch JB though, unless they're against DFA or nas/damian marley

Jack beats tore it up at EDC and HARD HAUNTED.. They are some of the most technical DJ's on the planet and it shows in their sets.. will be losing face at the sahara during their set 110%

I like how that countdown isn't synced with shit, haha!

Person 1 - "Oh we just messed up, let's re-do the countdown, no one will notice."
Person 2 - "Are you sure?"
Person 1 - "Ya, see we just released the confetti."
Person 2 - "You should have waited, he's counting down again."
Person 1 - "NO BIG DEAL"

grind
02-03-2011, 06:48 PM
Lmao yeah I noticed that. They had a separate countdown with major lazer for no reason.

I think major lazer is pretty fun and all. But after jack beats, they just didn't measure up.

If there's a section designated on your ticket and there are sections you can and can't go, you've got assigned seating. If you'll get yelled at for dancing in an aisle, you've got assigned seating. If you've got to keep your feet planted to keep from cracking your shin on the seat in front of you, you might be a redneck with assigned seating. It's a stadium. It may have been loud but there's no possible way with all the reverberation in an arena that large that the sound was good. And I have no doubt it was perhaps at least twice as expensive as you might have seen Jack Beats in a club with ~1000 people with a tuned system.

But kudos to those who will tolerate such a scene because it makes Jack Beats cheaper to book in a small club, (like Mighty on 4/14)

you honestly are retarded... the floor fills up so all the people who didnt get down there in time are forced to go to the upper levels if they want to see the DJ playing inside... There is no assigned seating.. most people upstairs are standing up..

I personally was watching rusko back stage at the bassrush arena for NYE countdown :D

LOL dude. going up to the nosebleeds to stand up just so you can see the DJ. you just summed up what makes those shows retarded. Thanks, braugh.
God forbid you risk someone spilling a drink on your white wifebeater or your straight brimmed ballcap.

ya I get that they're standing up. That's not the point, it's where you wind up having to go. (although you admitted that it's only most that are standing)

02-03-2011, 07:51 PM
I got in to that arena for the second half of jack beats. There were a bunch of people up in the seats. But there was still plenty of room on the floor. I was up close with room to dance. The people in the stands weren't forced to be there.

I was worried about the sound as well, but it turned out to be pretty damn good. Bands play shows in arenas all the time, it's not like it's an empty concrete room with a little boom box playing. They had a good set up. It even sounded good near the back.

I'm sure it'll be even better in the sahara though!

jackstraw94086
02-03-2011, 07:53 PM
bands don't play in arenas because the sound is good, it's because it's an arena and they'll fit more people in.

1. its not a stadium, its a arena. 2. if it says GA on the ticket, its not assigned seating. duh. 3. i saw jack beats at club nokia, TAO had better sound 4. what club would u find them in on halloween or new years? theyre playing a club on a thursday? exciting. 5. if u cant dance in the isle, its not assigned seating, its a show in america where we have fire codes 6. sound is as good as the system u bring. Insomnia has one of the best. 7. this was just one stage out of four 8. u obviously have never been to a massive or an arena show, indoor raves always have better sound than outdoor 9. TAO doesnt suck just because one dude with a shitty iphone was up in the seats so his video could capture the entire arena 10

nbvcide
02-05-2011, 10:12 AM
10. u could say the same thing about coachella. u could see all the acts in smaller venues for a lot less money.. oh, and TAO is a helluva lot less than coachella. in fact, nowhere can u find more amazing acts on new years eve for less, guaranteed.
