people say that its the internet and all the technology that makes people appear bad or like 'douche bags', i have a hard time believing that. people show themselves through everything they do
as if it effected you any, you stand for nothing.

Is that really what people saw?

Sweet summer night and I'm stripped to my sheets
Foreman is leaking; my AC squeaks
And a voice from the clock says "You're not gonna get tired"
My bed is a pool and the wall's on fire
Soak my head in the sink for a while
It chills my neck and it makes me smile
But my bones gotta move and my skin's gotta breathe
You pick up the phone and I'm so relieved

You slide down the stairs to the eager street
And the sun is left with slippery feet
And I want to walk around with you (x2)
(And be here with you)

It doesn't really matter, I'll go where you feel
Home for the breeze, get a midnight meal
I'll point in the windows, you point out the parks
Rip off your sleeves and I'll ditch my socks
Dance to the songs from the cars as they pass
Weave through the cardboard, smell that trash
Walkin' around in our summertime clothes
Know where to go where our bodies go

And we'll breath the dawn in its morning blues
With purple yawns, you'll be sleeping soon
And I want to walk around with you (x2)

When the sun goes down we'll go out again! (x16)

Don't cool off
I like your warmth

Let's leave the sound of the heat for the sound of the rain
It's easy to sleep when it wets my brain
It covers my rest with a saccharine sheen
Kissing the wind through my window screen
But restless is causeless and I cannot hide
So much of my mind that it spills outside
Do you wanna go stroll down a financial street?
Our clothes might get soaked
But the buildings sleep

And there's no one pushing for a place
As we enter at an easy pace
And I want to walk around with you (x2)
I want to walk around with you (x4)

Just you, just you, just you, just you (x4)

My friends were eating breakfast at IHop last year on Sunday morning, and these 4 dudes gave them their VIP wrist bands...said they weren't going to the festival on the last day. We already had general admission wrist bands, so that was pretty sweet.

Also, 5 years ago I forgot my ID and we strategically peeled off a Heineken bracelet from one of my friends so that I could enjoy a beer later in the day. I haven't let this happen again.

OK, here's the real deal holyfield:

1. yes people managed to do sell their wristbands successfully last year. GV has said this year the wristbands are different. Whatever worked last year may (and probably) won't work this year. Last year was a first as far as 3 day festival passes for coachella and it was a learning experience.

2. honestly trying to figure out how to cheat the system on coachella's official forum is not really the best strategy. do some research outside of GV's channels.

3. you asked, you got a response. let it go, you're just annoying everyone

best of luck, you're taking a risk by switching wristbands, don't be surprised if it doesn't work out for you as you intended.

Ha, I do . . . I kept my wristband on from LiB and went to a show a few days later. I was able to get into the VIP area, because I still had on a sparkly wristband on from an unrelated show.

That was awesome.

I feel like in light of the high demand for tickets this year, coachella should take up a wrist band recycling policy. If you leave the festival early you can trade in your wrist band for a t-shirt and then they can re-sell a new wrist band to people looking to get into the festival at a reduced rate without it going to waste...win win right?

Over the shitty comments... Straight Asnwer: YES it works. Just be careful. If you can keep it from breaking and slide a hand out: GREAT! Switch people and get 'em in! I used white gum to hold it in place while I went through the gates and put it away once I got inside.

I'm curious how seriously security will look for those not wearing wristbands inside the festival grounds. Will they be escorted a mile away?

2. honestly trying to figure out how to cheat the system on coachella's official forum is not really the best strategy. do some research outside of GV's channels.

I understand, appreciate, and support GVs reasoning for going to a wristband system. However, I don't understand how it hurts GV in anyway for someone who is LEAVING the festival on Saturday night to give their wristband to someone else who wants to ENTER on Sunday morning. In fact, it could generate additional t-shirt sales for them. (And it could sell an extra breakfast at I-hop.) It doesn't create any more overcrowding either. The only possible negative effect is creating greater demand for lodging (which was part of the point of going to a wristband system.) However, it's likely that the late attendee simply wouldn't be able to find lodging.

In any case, there's no reason for any of us to care one way or another. As long as they are letting in only one person per wristband per day, what's the big deal?

That said, the OP is a babbling nincompoop.

Pretty fucking lame, just bust a Glastonbury, make us register, send in a photo, and the only way to get in is if your pass matches your ID and your face on the pass and method of ID.

Last year we had a ticket shortage and were scrambling for tix. We ended up with enough for everyone plus one. We went back and forth about what to do with the extra ticket and decided to just miracle somebody.

So our friend Amber went up to a random dude standing ticketless in front of the entrance. He said his friends all had tickets but he couldn't work it out. So she gave him her extra VIP wristband and told him to do something amazing for somebody someday.

That is an example of something cool and awesome, which this thread needs since it is very uncool and not awesome.

When we were entering the grounds last year and got our pass I actually asked the security guard to put mine on a little lose. I hate when those things are to tight, even more so when it is really hot. He was really nice about it, and said it was no problem. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I could easily slide it on and off. I had no intention of letting someone else use it;it was only my boyfriend and I so not need. I don't know if they would be cool with it this year or not after everything that went down last year with people sneaking in, but who knows?

yeah except if you allow that you get this scenario:

3 people with wristbands go in.

1 leaves with 2 wristbands in pocket.

that person gives those two wristbands to 2 other people.

those people walk in.

rinse and repeat

so yes, it will cause overcrowding. unless no more ins-outs.

The person leaving with 2 in his pockets has to walk a mile out away fromt he gate to find friends, then a mile back to the gate for re-entry.

They had chips in them last year, but they don't identify YOU

3 people with wristbands go in.

1 leaves with 2 wristbands in pocket.

that person gives those two wristbands to 2 other people.

Checking wristbands at the car entrances is going to cut way down on that.

Now, if they want to get extreme, do this: Lock down the campgrounds they way they used to be. Scan the wristbands at the Parking lot entrances and at the campground entrance. You might also need a specific pedestrian entrance off the street. Once they are scanned there, you can't go through those checkpoints again for another 6 hours. If someone comes in at noon, they can't reenter until after 6pm. You can still come and go from the campgrounds as much as you like. Going to Ralphs in the morning on the shuttle would be fine, you would just use your daily first scan coming back in.

OR...since probably relatively few people actually leave the grounds midday...if you want to do that, you have to stand in line and get your picture taken and printed out before you leave. The background would change every day. You can only scan your wristband once per day, but you can still come and go from the campgrounds and parking lot at will. The only way you can get scanned in a second time is if you have your picture taken inside.

First, soundandfury needs to understand that, none of us having any idea how the wristbands are going to be designed for this year, none of us can give a valuable estimation of if they will be able to be slipped on and off or not.

that much is true but if we are receiving them a few weeks in advance and putting them on ourselves you can count on a lot of the wristbands being put on a LOT looser than if GV personnel did it for us at the gate...

A temporary tattoo with your wristband # on it?

EDIT...Ok, there's a swipe card, but what's to stop people from switching those too? Are they going to take your picture as you enter?

sonofhal

You get your card scanned as you leave by the exit. If you take another one out too (that doesn't get scanned), it will not work for re-entry until the next morning when the system is reset.

It won't stop one for one swaps, but who gives a shit about that?

M Sparks
02-20-2011, 10:31 AM
That's brilliant, actually. The only thing I worry about is back-ups at the exit, but how many people actually leave in the middle of the day at any given time? After a certain point in the evening, they can just swing a gate open to let people out without swiping.

I'd say most people would consider that walk well worth...what, $550? (Or w/e the going rate for festival passes is now)

If we are going by face value, roughly $100 per person per day.

The 1 mile walk back and forth won't be needed if you have a pass that looks similar from a distance, then swap real ones at the actual gate.

There'd be close to zero wait if they only have scan a card or wrstband at an exit. No pat-downs etc.

How long before guards get twenties passed to them to scan 2 extra removed passes? No system is perfect, but freeloaders need something harder to circumvent.

I was just thinking about how guards can always be bribed, but hell, if you're gonna go through the trouble of bribing a scanner, might as well bribe somebody watching a gate or fence, that guy wouldn't have as many eyes on him in my opinion.
