View Full Version : Top Three Dream Headliners

KickerConspiracy

Only rules are, if a band, all members have to be alive (e.g. no Clash or Beatles reunions). Choices should also be bounded by some amount of reason.

I'll start:

1. Tom Waits
2. Stone Roses (I'd settle for Ian Brown which could conceivably happen)
3. White Stripes (feel like its only a matter of time; they played in 2003).

As far as headliner level acts, I'm pretty happy with what we got this year. If I were putting together my own festival I'd probably have The National, The Hold Steady, and The Gaslight Anthem at the top of the bill.

Pink Floyd is against the rules.it should count if theyve performed together since the death of a member, like Led Zep..otherwise youd have to also disqualify acts like AC/DC whose original singer is dead or Metallica, who are certainly capable of playing the polo fields the week after chella, or Sublime or Alice In Chains for example..

I don't know. I would've been old and jaded saying that music was better back when I was young.

But I can't imagine how I'd feel after seeing these three legends in one weekend.

I think Pink Floyd is okay - just because they had a long history of touring with Waters and even Gilmour as lead. Same with Zeppelin - my buddy whose in a 70's cover band and loves that era thinks Bonham's son is even better.

I'm surprised by all of the people picking Daft Punk as one of their three. I missed them at Coachella, but saw them at Red Rocks, which was a better venue. Epic show that I will never forget, but I don't feel like have to see them again. I suppose I picked The Cure, who've headlined a couple of times before, but having Siouxsie and Banshees come on just before would make it more of a dream. Bowie and The Smiths are pipe dreams, I'm afraid.

I can only dream, friend.

At the first 'T in The Park' festival (Hamilton, Scotland) in '94, the 'King Tuts' tent hosted Oasis, Manics, Pulp, JTQ & Blur. That was a dream line up.

I went to Glastonbury in '95, primarily to see Oasis on the Friday and The Roses on the Saturday. John Squire fell off his mountain bike and broke his collar bone just before the gig and The Roses cancelled - that was a nightmare.

Move on my friend, discover the future of music at Coachella in April.

3 headliners I would really want to see:

Radiohead
The Cure
Nine Inch Nails

3 headliners I don't give a shit about and can thus dance my ass off in the Sahara:

Kings of Leon
Arcade Fire
Kanye West

oh wait.

Outkast
Daft Punk (if Tiesto gets the main stage, give it to some one better and more worth it than him)
Beastie Boys
