Anybody else wait in the shower line for FIVE HOURS last year?
I got sunburn so bad it turned purple and bubbled, first time I heard the term "sun poisoning" Yeah, it's a real thing.. look it up.
I like how they tricked you by hiding half the line up behind a fence too.
Moral of the story, fuck being clean.

Cooling off was the biggest issue for us last year. I actually reserved a P/U from Uhaul in Indio and a 160 gallon water tank for the back of the truck just so we can have a kiddie pool and maybe a slip n slide for this year or at least some sort of gravity fed sprinkler for sure.

Water doesn't have to be potable for you to bathe. I swim in lakes, ponds, rivers, etc, but I'm not chugging down the water in them. Also, anyone who stands in line for more than 10 minutes for a shower is a fool. It's a god damn music fesitval, get a little dirty people.

Last year I brought in two 2 gallon water containers, which my boyfriend and I used to wash one another's hair while sitting in a camping chair directly behind my car. That and baby wipes worked really well -- and then I did actually take a shower around 8 pm on Saturday.

Being dirty at the music festival I'm fine with, it's the 3 day drive before the festival + the festival+ minimal chances to shower during the 3 day drive home that I have a problem with. Not so much myself, but the 3 other people in the car that smell like tacos and dead animals for the whole trip.

The problem with the wipes is, right after I used them to freshen up I also had to reapply my spray spf and that made these gross orangey balls on my skin. I guess I could wait longer than 10 minutes before reapplying but I burn easily.
I only waited 1-2 hours for a shower last year (go early, figure out where the real ends of lines are) and I figure one shower will have to do for 3 days.

That fucking California sun got me up at 8am every day whether I liked it or not.

Buy tent fans and make sure you have a canopy to stop the initial rays.

NEW for 2011! The addition of VIP SHOWERS

theyre gonna be anyway if they only charge $5.. 95% of people woulda paid that to avoid the lines of last year, so what, two hour long lines instead of one three hour line? awesome. lines were shorter in 09 not just because they ringed the entire campground, but because they had a LOT less campers. camping sold out last year (& this year) plus the thousands camping without car or tent passes.. they need to rent MORE shower trailers, not less (or even the same number) when there are two or three times as many campers.. but what do i know, i dont have a decade in event management and planning

the biggest problem w/the shower situation last year was that they were centrally located rather than all around the campground where each quadrant had 1 male and 1 female shower truck available to each of them. with all the patrons located in multiple zig zaggy lines,

Tarp off your canopy and tie a camping shower or water jug to the ceiling. You won't get dirty walking back to your tent and won't have to wait in line.

Gonna try to take a lukewarm shower (I have a solar heated camping shower) around the middle of every day, band lineups permitting.

In tent camping last year we found a garden hose that was hooked up to a spigot. We then, in a group effort, held the hose for each other while people showered underneath it. It was actually really fun, with the exception of the mud puddle that soon developed.

There was also a water trough (like, for animals) that had a slow-flowing spigot, where people would brush their teeth, shave, etc.

It was a hell of a lot better than waiting in that god-awful shower line, that's for sure!

frizzlefry
04-04-2011, 09:29 PM
Did I already post about this spigot earlier in this thread? It doesn't matter, that hose was awesome, plus no one knew about it. It was tucked away in volunteer tent camping which probably explained the lack of crowd.

I bought a solar shower tent for 40 bucks at walmart. I don't know what you're considering as serious money, but I didn't think it was too bad, price-wise.

Edit: But you could always have a buddy hold the solar shower bag up while you rinse down. That's probably the cheapest haha
