Ahem:

They don't get half the credit they deserve on this board, but that will change after you all see them at Coachella; The Drums are incredible live.

Jonathan Pierce is just godly live, he has this incredible Jim Morrison-like stage presence that drips with confidence and glory; his dramatic late entrance alone is better than most band's whole sets, straight up. His voice is fearless and he's constantly switching octaves off the top of his head. Beyond Pierce, the rest of the band imbue so much energy, oftentimes doing crazy dances in the background. It's verrrry rare that you see a live band enjoy themselves this much; and it's not just a Matt and Kim silly enjoyment (which is awesome in its own right, no doubt about it), it's a serious commitment to their work and their collective faith in their sound.

Here's "Down By the Water" from the last show I saw them at; just wait until the second verse, fucking incredible (and check out his whimsical octave variations during the chorus):

Not that he's overlooked or unknown (At The Drive In, Mars Volta fame), but Omar Rodriguez Lopez's solo work is fantastic. Should put on a great show.

Wire - Countless bands that have played Coachella over the years owe a huge debt to Wire yet they are down in the fine print on the poster. I may be an old guy who goes back to "Pink Flag" and "154" but their latest stuff remains vital.

Sleigh Bells. For some reason, the regulars on this board absolutely hate this band (despite circlejerking over them before they started getting big). Because Alexis screamed in Treats, they've been slammed with a relationship to Crystal Castles' 09 set - an unfair comparison when Alexis screamed for 3 seconds. Yes, they only have 1 album, a short album at that; nonetheless, their live show is one of the most intense, fun, dancey shows I've been to if you can let go and just have fun.

Cold War Kids are another group that have such amazing chemistry on stage, it becomes a real joy to watch them perform. They don't get much hate on this board, but there's not much love for them either.

Cults. Yet to release an album, but of what has been released is really awesome.

Most overlooked: Pretty much anything from the UK or Europe because, let's face it, most American radio stations and TV channels don't really care about overseas artists. That's what is so great about Coachella, they give them a chance to play to so many people over here who probably never heard of many of them.

And rightly so, based on his performance in '09, I'll not be watching. He was about as entertaining as sunburn and equally as irritating.

Electric Touch however have had little attention on the board and should not be missed if you like simple 'four to the floor' guitar music.

I don't think !!! will be so overlooked anymore, at least in California, with their sets at FYF and Treasure Island I think they will have a fairly crowded set at a decent time. I would say Daedalus but he's got a decent thread devoted to him, mebbe not.
