a ton of em, within an hour of going on sale. I hope the real Coachella goers & campers don't procrastinate because looks like the scalpers doing what they do best.

and, no i can't spell AUCTIONS apparently.

Tricky tricky.

One of the auctions has $199 car passes and say estimated shipping is Jan 25.

All in not that bad of a deal right (under the assumption car passes will be over 200 closer to the event).

but down below it says

"Tickets will be shipped as soon as they arrive from the ticketing agency"

Ie he/she is trying to trick you into believing you will get you tickets within a week or two.

If you sort the Coachella results by "Newly Listed" it shows some have been listed since March 2009. The revisions show that the seller changes the title and info based on the event.

So this is an interesting question for ebay:

the actual tickets won't ship until three weeks before the event.

So, if I were to buy a ticket from a seller on ebay *today*, what would I be buying? A promise to deliver the tickets in April?

If they reneged, would I be able to get a refund, or would it be outside the time frame - eg, basically what i'm wondering is if so much time would have elapsed that ebay would no longer enforce a reversal of the auction. (Certainly it would be too late for credit card chargebacks, as those usually have to happen within 30 days of the next billing).

If so, then this is a wonderful scam: claim to be selling tickets, get the money, don't deliver the tickets, and then just disappear.

More like a con-artist.

One of the things you learn as a lawyer-in-training (or a businessman-in-training), if you're paying attention, is where the holes are in the rules through which someone might construct a scam.

This is particularly important for lawyers who draft contracts because if you can't see where the holes are, you can't possibly design contracts to protect people against such scams. That is to say: if you don't know how someone will exploit a set of texts, you can't design texts to prevent the exploitation.

Of course, the problem with this is that once you understand how to abuse texts to con people, you have a skill which you can abuse every bit as much as you can use it; and many people do abuse it. But it's not having the skill which is the issue; it's lacking the ethical commitment to only use it to help build defenses.

Kinda like sold out arena concerts, when you see whole rows of empty seats because a scalper bought them all up and hasn't sold them-

I wonder if the camp site may be a lil less congested than one may think for it selling out so fast.

i'm assuming this 2 ticket limit applies to car/tent camping passes only?

because on the main page it says there is a 6 tix limit (referring to festival passes.)

just wonderin

yes camping was the one that was 2.

Now if theres a two ticket limit how would a scalper buy more than that?

Would multiple separate purchases over the first two count as duplicates?

*edit* never mind i saw you answer this in another thread

maybe (for the small timers)

2- layaway

2- ticket master

the big timers probable have something smart

maybe
a.) buy disposable credit card
b.) have many ticketmaster log ins
c.) have the address be for a business/office. This could be one way to avoid the same shipping address rule

still not sure how you would avoid duplicate names?

for the dumb

just place many ticketmaster orders. Think you have 12 camping passes. Then be shocked when 10 of those passes are canceled. Finally pray you have not sold more than 2 passes before you order has been canceled.

Linking auctions here encourages sales and helps the auction dewd. No bueno!

I've been reporting all the over priced car camping passes on e-bay. Not sure if that'll help at all.
