People are saying on the sahara thread that he is going to do the live set at coachella. Has he or coachella actually said that this is true or is it just wishful thinking?

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease be true.

He's said recently in interviews that he's working on a live set that he plans on unveiling in APRIL 2011.

So yeah. This isn't Boys Noize just DJing (even tho he kills it as a DJ), this is Boys Noize crushing souls with machines forged in the fires of mount doom.

I hope by that you mean he's closing the tent.

PT if you're reading this. Boys Noize must CLOSE THE SAHARA.

He was totally fuqed last time with a shitty shit time slot. Do it right.

My guess is it goes Sasha into Chems into Boys Noize based on that other Chems post about their time slot.

Really?

I'd much prefer to ease into a brilliantly mixed, flawless, progressive set. Then having that progression spill over into the spiritual cleansing that will be the chemical brothers only to rid that clean feeling with some durrty electro.

Sasha > Chems > Noize seems like it would flow better, imo.

Although, I'd also enjoy A-Trak > Noize > Chems > SASHA

Im assuming a Live set will be 90% only Boys Noize material and not other peoples tracks and mixes...im sure someone can go into detail about ableton or something.... but he wont be just standing there pressing Play, thats for sure...

I think his sets were already 90% his material. I wonder if the "live" refers to a unique stage production?

At EDC - 10/10
At Hard Haunted - 7/10

Can't put my finger on the difference, maybe it was Circuit Grounds vs Shrine parking lot to blame.

Not sure what to expect from a Boys Noize live set...his greatest (and only) stage proficiency has always been with the CDJs, and he already plays a preponderance of his own songs. Seems odd to switch that up to some mix of hardware instruments and give it a shot closing Coachella, especially since the instruments in his tracks are all such heavily modulated software instruments.

Maybe he'll show up with Ableton and sequence individual tracks live, he already does something similar with backing tracks on different CDs. Then again I don't think anyone's ever seen him use Live on stage.

BTW Live 8 -> Operator (IIRC) -> Percussion -> Sledgehammer = Boys Noize sound, so win.

I agree. He killed it at EDC. His best set I've seen to date. But he's definitely had some 7's as all performers do. I'm thinking he's going to do something special for Coachella, as all artists do.

Coachella is like the NFL playoffs... win or go home. I'm expecting a big win from Boys Noize.

i feel the same way, his edc set had to be my third favorite act of 2010 (behind plastikman and underworld). the massive nature of the Circuit Grounds made him seem almost like an electronic god up there. it was almost hard to believe i was looking at the same kid who played at like 4pm in the sahara two years prior. he's come a LOOONG way, but he deserves it more than most DJs i know.

hard was fun, but shitty production value + partying with LA ravers on a sunday night = not my ideal situation, just couldn't get into it as much

to be honest, this was probably the first "electronic" song i appreciated, back when i was like 7.. in the days of the jock jams/rock compilation cds. it blew my mind that one of my favorite modern day DJs was dropping it, needless to say i spazzed the fuck out for the ensuing 2.5 mins

That's because the 5er is a joke and an asshole to boot.

What makes him a joke? If anything you should be thanking him for putting Electro House on the map. What he has done the past few years is what other DJ's dream about. Wether you like his music or not, he has helped change EDM. Not a Mau5 lover but someone who appreciates what he has done.

Wow you're really on a boys noize thread bragging about how much you hate a completely unrelated genre? Deadmau5 has nothing on your douchiness. Lots of prog house is good just like a lot of it is crap - similarly, a lot of deadmau5's shit is good (like ALL of random album title) and a lot of it is crap. Don't generalize. And "I'm old" doesn't give you more credibility than anyone else.

Now back to BN. I bet he's trying to blow deadmau5's 'epic' new performance last Coachella out of the water with his own new epic shit. So be prepared.

Epic post.

Progressive is diluted and derivative drivel made palatable for the masses?? I'd usually give someone such as yourself some leeway with comments like that but to write off an entire genre of music based on the popularity of one DJ and the fact that you dont like that specific dj (because he is popular? lol) and/or genre is dumb. So guys like Sasha, James Zabiela, Sander Kleinenberg, John Digweed are just drivel for the masses? Your ignorance is really shining through. I don't like drum and bass but, I at least know enough to know that a guy like High Contrast is something more of a demigod than "diluted and derivative drivel made palatble for the masses".

Deadmau5 has some killer tracks and he has put out some good stuff (see Random Album Title). But, yeah, some his trancier stuff is definitely not my thing. It's okay though. And, you know what? If his stuff is so "accessible" to the masses and he gets people listening to electronic music than that is okay with me. If at least one of those people goes on to realize that there is other EDM out there and they find that they like something else more, than he should keep on being an ambassador to expose people to EDM. Whatever it takes to get them in the door.

Anways, back to Mr. Rida.

I'm surprised he has announced all these dates as in an earlier article he said he wasn't taking any more shows until April.

I don't think your HC example works because, let's be honest, he's a demigod because of Donald (who's a demigod himself), and don't tell me otherwise. He's nowhere near as popular as other d&b djs, at least to the casual fan.

Agreed. But I didn't have a whole lot of time to find the perfect analogy and my knowledge of the drum and bass scene primarily comes from Donald. Also may I point that he does have two essential mixes under his belt. That's alot more than other djs.

I agree. If popular artists like Mau5 and Tiesto can bring people on board, these people will inevitably be introduced to the deeper creative music. As EDM and electro get bigger, the genre as a whole will produce more and more talented artists and interesting sub-genres. As fas of music, this is exactly what we want....

I could only imagine what it was like with the wall up. God, that would be horrendous. And the brah legends only surpassed what I had built in my mind. It was like huge episode of Tool Academy (I'm sorry I even know what that show is).

(epic brow)

that set was honestly fucking insane. had there still been that wall there im sure he would've decimated it.

as far as the new layout goes...its nice that theres a larger dance area but its considerably narrower now that the dancefloor is flanked by two shitty vip areas full of rich skeazers of all shapes and colors that are way too old and way too out of place for a show like this. seriously its one thing to give the rich people an area off to the side for bottle service to attract slutty gold diggers but its another thing to let them waste half of the dance floor to let ed hardy/affliction fucktards sit on a bench and fist pump.

Yeah his set list was massive. 1010 Opening the acid portion was flawless.

Agreed. Although I think Coloured City truly opened up that nasty, nasty acid section.

Anyone else go crazy when he dropped that small segment of Skreams remix to I Love You So?

Are we expecting a DJ set? Have we forgotten that he is likely unveiling his live show that he has been working on? Have i missed something perhaps?

It's alot more rare for him to drop that track these days. Don't count on it.

This video from Chile is the first time I've seen a video of him playing it in a while, I think he got kind of bored of it after dropping it in most of this sets on his Oi Oi Oi tour. He for sure won't open with it since he did that last time he played Coachella, that dude likes to keep his sets as fresh as possible.

I saw him in October and the only Oi Oi Oi track he played was Lava Lava.

Actually he played about 80% of his tracks that day too. Boys Noize tracks really shine in front of the masses. His festival sets are quite a contrast to his club sets.

There's certain electronic artists that I guess I just don't get, and Boys Noize is certainly one of them. He's one of those musicians that I just toss into the "typical electronic artists" section of my brain and forget about. Maybe this will change, but I tend to doubt it. Blasphemous? I know, and I'm sorry.

I can understand getting that feeling from prof. noize's tracks, especially because he so often trailblazes sounds that get copied and whored out. I would highly recommend catching his live/dj set. His level of energy is unmatched.
When he DJs he looks like an octopus on speed.

Seeing him live is too amazing. Some music is meant to be heard on speaker we can only afford to share with others through ticket sales. Boys Noize Throw down hard, i feel liek oi oi oi was made on electribes, its ALL sounds that electribes(its a groove box) make.

Boys Noize is Super fresh.

It has to be an error... The link for tickets takes you to ticketmaster coachella passes that are sold out and almost everyone would leave after sunday. That doesn't seem practical in a business sense.

That said, it better be true! Although it would be hard to endure a 3 hour Boys Noize set after 3 days of Coachella...

unlike a lot of edm acts, boys noize is *arguably* a better DJ than a producer. while he certainly has his fair share of awesome productions and a generally identifiable style, his mixing and track selectionis where he really shines. this past year ive gotten pretty bored with the typical edm producer DJ set you typically see at clubs/raves but seeing him a few weeks ago reaffirmed for me why he is a standout in a performance setting. tons of energy and dynamism seamlessly stitched together and that is really lacking these days. do not miss!!!

Boys Noize closed out the dance tent on the last night of Sasquatch last year. From what I watched he was absolutely phenomenal, but with some rather unsettling mushrooms kicking in and 3 days of festivities catching up with me I was only able to stick it out for about 25 minutes of his set. Coachella will be different. Can't fucking wait.

so has this "live set" of his been brought up by any other legitimate news source other than that one article that was posted months ago? are we still 100% he's doing it, and if so will coachella be the first to see it?

EDIT: in the article he states that he wasn't intending on doing any shows until april 2011 in order to concentrate on the live show.. but obviously he's been touring a decent amount recently with DJ sets.. DAMNIT RIDHA make up your mind!!

I love Boys Noize, but I checked out some Youtube clips of his live set, and seems to be doing little more than playing CDs and waving his hands around (albiet with a great light show)
