The Radio Dept gets love in shoegaze circles, though I'd disagree. SERIOUS lack of this genre IMO, considering how much good stuff came out in 2010

Asobi Seksu, Mono, School of Seven Bells are all overdue. Not as pressing of a priority as the return of She Wants Revenge and Sleigh Bells, of course ;)

Yeah, The Radio Dept. do get love in Shoegaze circles, except they ain't really shoegaze per se, more dream pop/post-punk with a definite influence from bands like the Cocteau Twins.

Either way, they are the top of my list to see. Their last LP was simply stunning, my favourite album of 2010 without a doubt.

Although a lot of that stuff you were calling shoegaze really wasn't.

Listen to Loveless at your earliest convenience. And turn it UP.

I would say broken social scene can be shoegaze in a different way at times. Especially their first album but they dont play that live anymore.

i was really hoping Godspeed would play...really bummed.
And yeah, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart are probably the shoegazeiest band on the lineup

Would have loved to have seen MBV or GY!BE come out on the line-up. Saw MBV all 3 days at ATP:Nightmare Before Christmas '09 & GY!BE twice at ATP:NBC '10 and I cant imagine how good (both of them) and loud (MBV) would be in an open space!

The Radio Dept. make more dream-pop songs than shoegaze songs but they do both.

Also, I would've loved to see Weekend (the band) in this lineup, they remind me of A place to bury strangers, I like to refer to it as dark-shoegaze, like a goth version of MBV.

THIS. Disappointed to see Wild Nothing left off the bill after being tipped to appear. Their album, Gemini, is one of the best of 2010.

I think we need more post coital and less post rock
feels like the build up takes forever but you never get me off....

the pains are neither shoegaze nor post-rock, they're more like twee pop or some shit like that ("shit like that" meaning those type of stupid pretentious genres)

Listen to Loveless at your earliest convenience. And turn it UP.

As well as Ride's Nowhere which coincidentally should be out in a remasted deluxe edition on February 1, and is already available on vinyl.

And as someone just said, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart are probably the closest to shoegaze on this year's bill.

I'm a huge shoegaze fan and there isn't much on this year's bill, yet... but this is my very quickly thrown together list for this year... i'm still praying to someday see a reunion show of The Stone Roses and/or Adorable. Tame Impala has shoegaze qualities but are more psychedelic :

I bet they did but coming from the UK makes Coachella a fairly expensive festival for me.

I just checked out Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and I love 'em. Granted it does sound extremely similar to MBV but it isn't a huge deal to me. They're still really good and are on my must see acts for friday.

I maintain that the Chemical Bros. set is very shoegazey at the moment.

Pains of Being Pure At Heart aren't a shoegaze band, they're an indiepop band.

Though shoegaze and indiepop share lots of common ancestry.

I agree, someone in here said something like electronic shoegaze... anyway, the most shoegazing moment for me was the transition between horsepower and swoon.. otherworldly

:lool sry but I just don't see it

I thought Pains of Being... were some boring generic indie rock band, maybe I need to look into them further. Radio Dept. I have heard but need to listen to more closely, sounds exciting.

I guess there's no chance of Chapterhouse ever playing, this would've been the year to get them, right?

Man if there's one gripe I have about Coachella it's that they don't get more interesting post-rock, at least a couple per year, it just seems like such an obvious thing to do at such a diverse fest.
