Agreed. He played Roky Erickson's Ice Cream Social for SXSW a few years back and just floored an audience that was roughly 60% bikers and 40% psych fans... Not his typical audience, I'd assume. Also caught a recent show at Antone's in Austin and once again, he killed. Stage presence improved dramatically between the two shows as well.

It starts and ends well, but the middle is pretty boring imo. His live stuff seems great though, and a few of his songs are so beautiful ("Kids on the Run" is one of my favorite tracks of 2010)

Disagree. Mojave or early Outdoor.

"Kids on the Run" was the best song about suburbia from last year. Sorry Arcade Fire. Need to hear it live!

You do realize it's the Mojave that's right next to the Sahara, right?

People kept yelling song requests and I shouted "He's not a jukebox!"

He got a kick out of that.

They definitely approach song writing in different ways... their lyrical styles couldn't be more antithetic.

Although:

He picked up an electric guitar. BOB DYLAN ALERT.

I would love for him to release an album entirely in Swedish.

Lazy comparison in my opinion. The two artists shouldn't be synonymous.

I should've explained better, I guess. Had I made those arguments just blindly, then someone would say, "but you like Lou Reed and Bob Dylan and they weren't exactly great singers either." So, that was my counter to those anticipated arguments. I do think he's a good musician and writer, but the voice is a big turnoff.

the lighting in the tents is terrible for taking videos in the early part of the day, so this video is mostly just his silhouette, but the sound turned out really good.

Who was the woman he brought out for Thrown Right at Me?

People around me started clapping and got really excited and I was confused because I had no idea...then again they could have just been excited that there was a guest and not known who she was either.

Anyways, his set was just beautiful, after watching him and Radio Dept. back to back I felt like I had just gotten a full body massage. So pretty, mellow, insightful and relaxing. I actually really like his voice but can easily see how it would be hard to like.
