Me too. Pretty much just hoping Justin will stick around to do his thing with Kanye.

I'm a little shocked and very disappointed they haven't booked Bon Iver yet. Having seen them a few times, I know they could definitely hold their own at the fest a la Swell Season and not be drowned out by a louder band.

I tried to get a CD at my local store the other day but they're out and by the time they get one in I won't be in town anymore. Was thinking about just getting it straight from their label (http://www.scdistribution.com/cat/scd_catalog.php?site_id=2&usersearch=GAYNGS&pagerequest=&order=&label=Jagjaguwar) for $11. Where'd you get your $5 one?

That time would not only be perfect for their ambiance, but it would also help to lessen the inevitable conflicts I'm predicting during the day/afternoon/early evening...Chemical Brothers should be done by then and this would be a perfect way to chill out after.

I just read this on Wiki, wow, I hope you guys are lucky and get something resembling this live:

In May of 2010 the band played their first show at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Billed as "The Last Prom on Earth", the concert featured all 23 members of the band, prom-themed decorations, a balloon drop, and a surprise appearance by audience member Prince.

I'm curious where they are going to play. Can you fit 23 people on a stage in a tent? I think the Mojave stage is a little bigger than Gobi? I'm not sure they're big enough for the Outdoor unless it's early and that would suck for them. And who knows who will actually be there.

I feel like it goes without saying that all 23 of them won't be on the stage at the same time. But, I'm wondering who the other 4 artists in the group are. I only count 19 from the wiki page I posted up there.

It would be amazing if we got the same shit Minneapolis did.

But, it would be amazing if we got the same shit Minneapolis did. They're Minneapolis based, so I doubt the Coachella set will have all the bells and whistles that they got... but it will still be amazing.

Probably my favorite part of seeing them play was watching Ryan Olson get down with his bad self in the background, dancing up a storm and singing soulfully even when micless. You can tell he really feels what he has put together.

I was at the early all ages show, which I was told later was not as good as the second one. Also, I was not properly dressed and none of the kids in their prom clothes would dance with me.

I wasn't counting but earlier people were asking about 19 vs 23. I would think the traveling group is smaller. Good point about being on stage at same time though.

Hmm no mention of POS or Dessa

Last year, Minneapolis soft-rock supergroup Gayngs ended their tour early, when their tour bus driver disappeared because of an unpaid bill; legal action followed. Given the busy schedules of all involved and the general chaos of that tour finale, we weren't really expecting Gayngs to get back together anytime soon. But in the months ahead, the group will tour and release a remix EP.

Starting in March, the group will play another run of shows, including SXSW, Coachella, and Sasquatch. For these shows, the band's lineup will include Justin Vernon and Mike Noyce of Bon Iver, as well as members of Megafaun, the Rosebuds, Solid Gold, and Leisure Birds. At SXSW, Gayngs will have their own showcase at the Mohawk on March 17, featuring sets from Megafaun, Solid Gold, Doomtree, and more.

Gayngs are also preparing Affiliyated, a collection of remixes of tracks from their 2010 album Relayted. All the remixes come from members of the Minneapolis hip-hop collective Doomtree. The Affiliyated release date hasn't been determined yet, and it may turn out to be a free release.

Below, we've got Gayngs' tour dates, the Affiliyated tracklist, as well as the video for the original version of "The Gaudy Side of Town".

The remix was done by members of Doomtree, a MPLS hiphop collective. P.O.S. and Dessa are members of Doomtree and also perform in GAYNGS, but are not touring with GAYNGS beyond the GAYNGS AFFILYATED showcase at SXSW. Having said that, anything is possible but I would not expect the remixes ...

For lolz from the Doomtree bandcamp page:

Thanks for the photo links; I'm way behind in my fashion blog reading. I think Sean aka HarMar will be along for Coachella, which means there is an excellent chance we will get the "One More Try" cover. It's really good provided Sean does not fall off the stage or completely disrobe.

What is "One More Try?" No problem for the links - it's actually a brand for douchy bros out here in SoCal, but some of their articles are interesting. The guy who owns the brand covered Coachella last year and just finished up tons of SXSW stuff.

There used to be a video on youtube with Mikey singing One More Try, and I liked it waaaay better, and would much prefer that.

Yeah, I've seen that and other vids of Har Mar singing it and... I find them pretty atrociously bad. There used to be a really good quality vid of Mikey singing the whole song, and it was REALLY good, I watched it once every couple of days, but it must have been removed from youtube. It was one million times better than that drunk, bald, Gallagher look-alike.

I'm going to watch that a few hundred more times before forming my opinion. Love the reactions of Vernon and the others.

Just found this thread and had to say this is a must-see for me. Spanish Platinum just makes me wanna cry.
Can't wait to see these guys. Definitely a big find for myself on the lineup this year

The answer has ALOT to do with whether or not I leave the chems early

Such BULLSHIT they're playing at the same time during Flogging Molly.
I missed FM in '08 because I was watching Portishead and I swore I wouldn't miss them again if they came back.
I have no clue who to pick.

Possibility of Gayngs in the San Francisco area sometime soon? Chemical Brothers vs. Gayngs vs. Boys Noize is too much for me to even think about right now...

They're playing June 1st at The Independent, which is the solution to my conundrum :)

I'm banking on highly likely. But if they don't for some odd reason, the san diego show is on a saturday which is my next option. Full chem bro set for me!

Look, if you haven't seen this Chemical Bros tour yet, you should not even consider Gayngs. The Chems show is insane and the Coachella Mainstage is the best venue, um, in the world. Boys Noize is also a ripping show, and I'm so glad to finally see him closing. But if you are like me, and have seen this Chems show twice and BN multiple times, Gayngs is where its at. And hey, if they turn out to be weak live, dip on out

Oh, the only thing was the Megafaun guys weren't there. That was a little disappointing.
