I can't quite grasp how so many boardies can bitch about the line-up this year. I feel like no one ever really knows what they want. One year the headliners are too commercial so everyone bitches about it, the next it's not commercial enough so everyone bitches about it.

Across the board this line-up is loaded. So if you're someone who is excited about this years line-up as I am. Please join us and let's chat about how much fun April 15-17 is going to be. If you're not do us a favor go any one of the "The line-up sucks" threads. Thank you.

Every year their is disappointment and elation. Everyone who lives in Cali is so fucking spoiled with getting to see whoever they want, that if DaftPunk, Pink Floyd and David Bowie aren't playing they think Coachella is an ultimate failure.
This is a sick lineup people.. I know Sat. is lacking severely, but Coachella will work on it. Remember when everyone bitched about Portishead and we got Prince. Same thing could happen.. Daft Punk got added pretty late also.. Have some hope and be happy with the rare acts that Coachella landed for us this year... I'm hella psyched.

Ya this lineup doesn't have the star studded lineup i'm sure most were looking for, but it does have depth thoughout the whole lineup I feel. Every day there are great acts to go see should set up a real fun weekend...

I totally feel what you're saying bro but the current headliners are pretty much the only problem. They are weak as hell though I understand the Kanye thing because he is bafflingly popular so a good move money wise. KOL have headlined a bunch of festivals in the past and are headline worthy as a band goes but leave that been-there-done-that taste in your mouth I feel. AF is a cool band but not big enough IMO. Oh well the other artists are good and I can understand people's frustration that they are a bit recycled from past Coachellas. That's good for me considering I've only been to Coachella in '10. Despite all this crappy headliner business, I'm looking forward to this year very much!!!

I am so glad Kings of Leon are on the lineup. Now I can either -

A) watch the Chems, Sasha or whomever else is playing in the Sahara.

B) Watch a potential great act in the Mojave/Gobi like Cee Lo or Cut Copy without worrying about missing the headliner.

C) Watch an act on the Outdoor like The Black Keys or Interpol (or soemeone else

D) Leave a little early and get back to wherever I am staying to get some sleep.

The lineup is all about how you perceive it. No one knows who is playing on what stage and when yet, but I will not be at the main Friday night for KOL and I am totally OK with that.

I agree with all of the above except KOL will not play during Black Keys or Interpol.

This is just like 2008, when the lineup came out and I was thrilled (BEFORE Prince)
and there were grumpy Guses all up in this bitch

People complaining that the headliners are the reason this lineup is weak have so much to learn. Through and through, this lineup is stellar.

Could Interpol and KOL conflict. That would be the bestest news ever. Agree with the sentiment that the only problem is the headliners. And I actually think Saturday is the best day (Wire! Suede! Pretty much the entire 4th line - Gogol, Swell Season, New Pornographers, Scissor Sisters, Elbow, etc)

it's not perfect but it's definitely solid. the Sahara undercards in particular are really strong this year. would have liked to see daft punk but i think everyone knew that was a long shot at best.

I can't think of a better headliner for The Chems to go against. If they had been against Arcade Fire I would have been a little bit disappointed but still seen The Chems. I'm hoping they go directly against KoL and I will have absolutely no regrets.

What the fuck are you talking about? Nobody ever bitched about Portishead being a headliner & if you did you are highly likely to be one of the trillions of teens that got turned on & are all about them now.

Dear Coachella,

Thank you for such a kick ass line-up. Headliners are weak, most everything else is amazing. Still lacking some of the wow factor of year's previous, but who cares? It's Coachella people, one of the best weekends of the year.

This lineup blew me away, the sub-headliners are fantastic. And people can hate on Kanye for being an asshole but MBDTF is an incredible album. Last year was my first Coachella and I knew I was going this year whatever the lineup though, maybe the most fun weekend I've ever had. And I missed all of Friday because my truck broke down in the Central Valley.

I was kind of 'meh' with the lineup at first. It's growing on me. Still don't know what I'm going to watch on Sunday though.

and yeah it's not about the headliners. fuck the headliners. not what i'm there for.

It's not that complicated. When you first see the poster, it's the top lines that jump out at you. Since it's the first thing you see, if you don't like it, then it's a disappointment. It took me a few Coachella's to not let the headliners/sub-headliners bum me out. It's an experience thing I guess.

To that end, I am extremely pleased with this lineup.

This lineup is AMAZING!! There are already so many acts that I am extremely EXCITED to see, and the awesome thing is there's just enough room for me to research some unfamiliar acts now to make this an even more fulfilling experience.

There's more to it then just the music..for me, the camping adds alot to the awesome factor, as well as the random vendors, the drugs, meeting up with all the people I've gotten to know through previous Coachellas..I may be somewhat alone on this, but it's fucking Coachella..of course it's going to be amazing!

I think that's a reasonable way to look at it... I also think that people don't realize that the top two lines aren't necessarily a representation of what your choices will be at the end of the day. Some of the varying stage headliners the last two years were 4th or 5th liners on the poster.

I still go back to the fact that Fever Ray blew everything else out of the water, in my mind, last year and they were on the fourth line.

bottom line: it's all about perspective and recognizing that there's a lot of shit that won't even cross your path... so if you're bitching about 10% of the lineup... even the biggest 10% of the lineup, it's likely you won't even be forced to a point where you have no choice but one of them at any point of the festival..

I mean... unless they pull another "nobody but the headliner on the main stage" thing like they did with the Gorillaz... but all the same.

I think it's a pretty solid lineup this year. I def could have done without KOL but I also could have done without Gorillaz last year too. 2 outta 3 headliners ain't bad, PLUS the undercard is dope.

Let's leave this to simple math. If you end up catching 20 bands it's 100% worth it. If you were to catch those same bands/djs/etc. seperately at just $20 a pop, that's already $400. And you wouldn't get the togetherness, the vibes, the spirit that makes Coachella what it is. It's not just about getting David Bowie or Daft Punk to the Polo Fields, it's also about 70K people coming together at one place to catch a good time and listen to some great tunes and make new friends. It's an escape from the mundane reality of our everyday lives. It's a Spring home in the desert and I'm looking forward to my vacation. If you're not down with it, stay at the office.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the lineup. There are a number of unfamiliar acts, particularly on Sunday, so it will take me a few days to digest the full lineup.

It's all about the undercard, so the headliners are a non-issue for me. I will definitely watch AF and possibly Kanye (depends on set times), but not KOL (not my thing). That's about average for me, since Coachella became a three day festival, and that's ok because there will be plenty happening on the other stages.
