I hope Sasha doesn't conflict with the Black Keys. I really would like to see Black Keys but I was only able to manage about 10 minutes of the Sasha & Digweed set in '08 due to Portishead & Prince (and the mushrooms I was on starting to really fuck with me) and I'm not going to miss out on another opportunity to watch him work his magic. I started listening to my old Global Underground mixes of his again and they reaffirmed that he's one of the acts I'm most looking forward to over the entire weekend.

Tell me about it. Been missing it ever since. Having less than 1500 people in the Sahara for the last Sahara act of the weekend as everyone left for the Gorillaz was unreal. I had no less than a 10-foot radius of space around me to break it down. Not to mention that incredible perpendicular wind blowing straight through the whole tent... UNNNGGGGGG

you can pretty much count on peeps doing the jump-and-fist-pump in the front, no matter who the act is. either way i recommend you aim right in front of the sound stage, as it'll sound the best and you'll still be near all the action :thu

So is this the vortek, if so, doesn't that make you think he won't share a stage with The Chems seeing as they both have big stage productions? In other words, doesn't this make the chems on the main stage seem more likely?

while i'm not sure on exact dimensions, the screens that sasha is using and the ones that the chems used over summer seem to be somewhat similar in size.. so perhaps they could share? who knows.. boys noize might make use of such screens in his live set that'll follow immediately after

Everyone just used the chems screen all day at Ez. One of the drawbacks to coachella is that everyone is so pressed for time and have to set up asap. 2manydjs were still setting up 10 mins into their set.

I was introduced to Sasha and Digweed's music in either 1999 or 2000, but when people talked about them, they were always referred to as "trance" back then even though I eventually found out that the trance they played was few and far between and far from the cheesy stuff people like PVD (whom I actually liked back in those days) were producing.

I had the same reaction as you when I first heard them.

I guess the bad part of having sasha play on friday night was that the rest of the djs for the weekend were anti-climatic. He should have closed out sunday.

Did this set get recorded? Is the recording out yet? That was the best set I've ever heard Sasha play out. It was amazing.

I excluded those people from the equation, thus why it ends up being ''nobody''.

Pay attention to Sasha's FB music player. That's where he often puts up sets to dl and/or listen:

It needs some mastering..... but that is beyond me...

Also, its going to be the biggest tease ever because of the way the last 10 minutes are cut out.

He also ended Don't Think like halfway through. At least compared to how long it was playing for at his EDC set.

No it wasn't but that is when you all left. He went for another 10-15 minutes after that. (or at least that is what it felt like)

So let me finish this high contrast first. But, yeah, I don't like the way this Sasha recording came out, and it isn't complete so I'm hesitant to share but I think you all feel the same way I do that some Sasha is better than no Sasha. I doubt it is something that you all will be playing nonstop on your ipods or in the car or whatever, but its better than nothing.

"A 1988-era Hacienda trouper who had made his name at the last and largest of the Blackburn raves, Sasha's impact came from his mastery of dynamics: the long, suspenseful introduction to a song dropping into a glittering shower of piano, the stratospheric cruise through the frequencies of euphoria...dance music magazine Mixmag framed him in hyperbolic terms on its front cover, initially as "The First DJ Pin-Up" and later as "Son of God."

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Yeah it is a pretty good set. Towards the end he plays a track that he mixed in with that Nero - Innocence Vrtek Edit he opened with at Coachella.
