Apparently these are up all over Moscow:

Stef, I don't mean to pry but I'm just curious. Feel free not to answer if you'd rather. But... what are you guys getting paid for that? I mean, you're in an unusual situation, (almost) unknowns, no record deal, etc., but at the same time you're opening for some of the world's biggest rock stars.

Stefinitely Maybe
03-10-2007, 03:02 PM
We are being paid €500 for the gig, which is about $657 according to the currency converters online. So, not enough to pay for our plane tickets and accomodation in Russia, but it helps, and the experience and publicity of playing a gig like this is priceless.

Yablonowitz
03-10-2007, 03:04 PM
Please wear the scarf during your performance. But DON'T throw it out to the crowd. You save that for the Coachella gig and you throw it right to me. I'll put it in a class case and hang it on my wall. Scouts honor.

Stefinitely Maybe
03-10-2007, 03:06 PM
Wearing a scarf during a gig in Moscow in March = common sense.

Wearing a scarf during a gig at Coachella in April = deathwish.

I'll give you the Ghostbusters cap instead, Yablo. How about that?

Dude, you're a rocker...you're supposed to do unconventional stuff. Come out with no shirt on and JUST the scarf and some of your favorite pants, whatever. Anyway, keep the scarf on for two songs and THEN when you hit a major tune, throw it to me and grab the Ghostbusters hat. I will worship you then.

fortydollarsworthofmeat
03-10-2007, 03:49 PM
but make sure to wear your favorite pants.

also, stef, if you don't rip one of those posters down the second you get into moscow, you're dumb. real dumb.

are you gonna be at coachella 08?

bballarl
03-10-2007, 09:13 PM
Why does this terrify you? You are a musician. Your band is not going to fuck up. People are there for Noel, which helps take off the pressure, and if anything you will only convert more people. There is very little on you guys. You won't blow it. Basically all I'm saying is focus solely on how cool this.

Stefinitely Maybe
03-20-2007, 06:30 AM
Well, I'm leaving for the airport in a few hours. I'm 50% excited and 50% nervous. I'll be back next week, with stories and photos of me with Noel.

I love Stef's facial expressions. Seriously, they're fabulous. Instead of posing with an "I'm so cool, I'm opening for Oasis" his face says "Holy shit Noel Gallagher is standing right next to me oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck" which makes him a man of the people.

oh that reminds me. KEXP wants to hear your stuff. I'm not making this up. it's one of those 'friend of a friend' deals but if you are interested I can get your mp3 to my friend who can give it to his friend who is a DJ at KEXP. no guarantees that they'll like it or play it or anything of course.

Stefinitely Maybe
03-26-2007, 07:09 AM
I have no idea what KEXP is but that sounds cool! Do you have the mp3 or do you need me to send it to you or what?

I will be bringing some of our demo CDs with me to LA, and to Coachella.

Also I will be playing a solo acoustic show in LA, on April 19th I think!

TomAz
03-26-2007, 07:12 AM
KEXP is listener supported radio out of Seattle. www.kexp.org. Good podcasts.

show me where to d/l the mp3s and I'll send them on.

Take it from me...ride it for as long as you can! I look forward to seeing Sonic Flyer's further adventures.

I will be bringing some of our demo CDs with me to LA, and to Coachella.
FYI, a friend of mine brought demos of his band to coachella in 2005 and they wouldn't let him take them in. he had to throw them away at the entrance.

He's not Stef, though.Stef will get a picture of the security guy holding up the demo while letting Stef through with an M60,a Panavision 70mm movie camera and the bag of coke that Nicholson had in The Departed.

Stefinitely Maybe
03-27-2007, 12:42 AM
Tom - you can't download them anywhere at the moment so I will have to email them to you.

The gig was great. We played well, and the crowd really seemed to like us. I will never forget the experience of playing to 4000 cheering people and then turning to my left and seeing Noel Gallagher at the side of the stage, watching us and smiling and clapping.

For some reason I find that perfectly aligned row of beer bottles in the third and fourth pictures to be incredibly hot.
