Most definitely. I mean, out of all years for their return, this year would have been optimal, but if you boil it down there was just as good of a chance of their return this year as all the rest.

Every year we go through this "will they/wont they" shit and every year we all get pissed when they're not on the line up (same goes for Bowie, Outcast, etc).

We're all just setting ourselves up for failure.

That said, im still a bit hopeful, but I wouldnt be surprised when I dont see them on the line up when it comes out - whenever that may be.

I really hope they will be there but I fear they won't. I'll still go regardless but it would be epic if I could get daft. I won't count them out til I see the poster myself.

I would think Daft Punk could come up with something other than those options.

Monk: "I have removed Daft Punk. Because there will be a ridiculous uproar, I will explain my position. I have said many times that they were not headlining. They would not have a giant new or old pyramid stage show. You will not get to relive the Alive! tour at Coachella. If that was your intention, you mislead yourself. The plan as I had understood it was to have a low key Daft Punk DJ set or guest spot. Realistically, this can still happen for Kanye. Daft Punk will still be at Coachella, but not in any form that will give you what you all wanted.

I did replace them with a great name, so I hope that appeases some of you."

The Coachella (http://www.coachella.com/forum/../) 2011 lineup unveiling is upon us, with KROQ's Iggnasty tweeting (http://twitter.com/iggnasty) on Saturday, Jan. 15 that the bill will be officially unveiled today at 5PM PST. Of course, we won't believe it until we see it with our own eyes, but rumors are already running rampant as to who will play Coachella 2011.

Among those expected to play are some some big names, like Arcade Fire (http://music.aol.com/artist/arcade-fire), Duran Duran (http://music.aol.com/artist/duran-duran), Bright Eyes (http://music.aol.com/artist/bright-eyes), Wire (http://music.aol.com/artist/wire), Interpol (http://music.aol.com/artist/interpol), the Black Keys (http://music.aol.com/artist/black-keys), and a live comedy sketch from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (http://television.aol.com/show/its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia/589897/main).' But it's the hype surrounding the unexpected that has made Coachella lineup rumors a thing of legend. Among the biggest names speculated to perform in 2011 are Daft Punk (http://music.aol.com/artist/daft-punk) and White Stripes (http://music.aol.com/artist/white-stripes), and both come with some validity to the rumors.

Daft Punk are, of course, the masterminds behind the new 'Tron Legacy (http://www.moviefone.com/movie/tron-legacy/38736/main)' score, and, after taking years to complete, must be itching to perform the tracks live in front of hundreds of thousands of people. Even if not, the timing seems correct. The White Stripes meanwhile are reportedly working on their first record since 2007's 'Icky Thump,' and a "reunited" performance would definitely be a highlight.

Some other big names rumored to make the 2011 Coachella lineup are the recently healthy Beastie Boys (http://music.aol.com/artist/beastie-boys), a Slash (http://music.aol.com/artist/slash)-included Guns N' Roses (http://music.aol.com/artist/guns-n-roses), Of Montreal (http://music.aol.com/artist/of-montreal), and Crystal Castles (http://music.aol.com/artist/crystal-castles). All of which we'd love to see, but it deserves asking, who will be the big old timer to perform? Bruce Springsteen (http://music.aol.com/artist/bruce-springsteen), Madonna (http://music.aol.com/artist/madonna), Tom Petty (http://music.aol.com/artist/tom-petty)? We'll just have to wait and see. You can watch all the rumors evolve here (http://festival-outlook.consequenceofsound.net/fests/view/297/coachella-valley-music-and-arts-festival), and make sure to check back tonight at 5PM PST for the full Coachella 2011 lineup.
