i was surfing KROQ to see if there was anything at all on there about coachella and saw Social Distortion has a new album and is on tour+no dates planned during coachella.
could this be a possibility?

could this be a possibility?Anything is possible through Jesus.

PS: Seriously though, why not - Mike Ness likes playing in the area enough...

Probably 0% chance, this coming from a big fan and seeing them in Feb. Their newer stuff has been increasingly cookie cutter and bland. Ness and co. still kill it live, but I just don't see this happening

This is not hootenanny.

I'm not real interested in their new stuff to be honest but i think if they played mostly old songs, they could take pavement's slot from last year.

Regardless, it'd be a good time, and a good "oh yeah I remember them, let's check em out" for those Coachellians who were into them back in the day.

Possible but I doubt it. It's not a draw that would get people excited enough to go out there simply because they are constantly playing So Cal and not hard to see them. It's not like pavement from last year where they had only limited tour dates released at the time.

Social Distortion is not big enough to subheadline at Coachella, which is what Pavement did last year.

They're on a big tour with 2 dates at a 5,000-capacity spot in L.A. They're not doing Coachella.

ha, u people seem to forget that mike ness performed solo on the polo fields in 09.. that being said, ive seen social d at a number of fests (mostly with headliners that wouldnt even make the main stage at coach) and theyve always played in the daytime..the only fest ive ever seen them highly billed is san diego street scene..

The fact that they have a Modesto date scheduled should let you know their status (or lack of) as of now.

Mike Ness played Stagecoach a couple of years ago. I'd like to see them on the Outdoor Stage in mid-afternoon (ala The Gaslight Anthem, Ted Leo, etc.).
