About to head off on tour with Interpol through to mid-Feb. It might be a long shot, but there could be a possibility of them playing on the back of having toured with Interpol (if the self-annoucement that they're playing is true)?

I really do hope so, these guys would be a great Sunday afternoon slot on the Outdoor Theater indeed.

Now that you mention, they would be astounding at night, or even a late sun set spot leading into night.

I'm still so hooked on the first album that I have yet to download the second album. Thanks for the heads up, definitely going to grab it now.

They were good when I saw them a few months ago but it was after Claudia quit the band :( They definitely miss her vocals live.

I've seen these guys twice, and after they added a live drummer they became an excellent live band. Perfect for sundown/night in a tent.

That's distressing news - I saw them a week or two before she left and she seemed totally out of it. Hope they can make the show work without her.

I saw them at Moogfest 2010 and they put on a great show. Had to skip them for Best Coast/Lewis Black at Roo, but would absolutely see them again. Wish I'd caught them before the sister quit, but they still sound very nice. More energy in their show than the records would indicate. Hope that shit happens.

Saw them open for Interpol last year.

I didn't think they were that bad, but they were almost booed off the stage. I felt kinda bad for them...

I was really bummed when I missed their tour with BMSR, so I'm heavily leaning toward seeing them in SF.

Weird how they were overlooked in 2011 despite touring much of the year with Interpol and now they got passed over again despite having a new album.

They video of them playing Bonnaroo is great.

RIP Benjamin Curtis. I thought for sure he would pull through it. Fuck cancer. Too bad they never got a chance to play the festival. They would have been majical in the Mohave.

Dear friends,

Last night, Dec. 29th 2013, we lost our friend and brother Benjamin Curtis to his fight against cancer.

While we had hoped to delay this announcement until a more suitable time when his friends and family could feel better prepared and settled to greet any correspondences from folks attempting to reach out, unfortunately the news has prematurely leaked. So we felt it would be appropriate to at least offer an official acknowledgement from us, in light of all the fans who loved and supported Benjamin and his music.

We kindly ask that his immediate family, friends & bandmates' privacy be respected during this time, and that instead, any inquires, well wishes, or notes-of-consolation be sent through School of Seven Bells’ management, where it can be shared with them at the suitable time. They can be sent to a special e-mail address here: sviib@wizkidmanagement.com

If relevant, further information will be made available through the suitable channels in the near future.

We can’t thank all of you who supported him and his music through the years enough. All of you who attended or participated in the various benefits in and around New York City over the past year since his diagnosis, and of course those who contributed and gave generously to help support him throughout that journey. You made it possible for all of us, and for him, to see how truly loved he was and how many lives he had touched through his music by your gestures. We will all miss this incredibly talented and rare person every day, but we are fortunate enough that he shared with us his music, and that is something that we can keep forever.

Seconded. That's brutal.

35 years old? Tragic. Fucking cancer. Right now I'm listening to the first Secret Machines album and I had forgotten how good this is.

Oh yeah, I remember them tweeting late last year that they hoped they'd get to play. Also remember seeing them open for Blonde Redhead back in 2007 and there was this guy next to me that looked like Wayne Coyne dancing up a storm during their entire set. I actually think their last album and EP were their best, which is something I rarely find myself saying lately.

I did the same thing and then put on the second and cranked it. Love their version of Girl From North County too. RIP.

Was also lucky to catch SVIIB with M83 at a small little venue called The Bottom Lounge in 2008

Super bummed about this. I'm a fan of SVIIB like all of you guys, and managed to see them four times over the years, so I can't complain that I never got a chance to see them live.

But I'll also throw in that Secret Machines was an important gateway band for me. Only got to see them once - they closed a stage at a festival, and it was just like those guys pumped psyche groove out so lugubrious, you could have gotten pushed over while it made its way out of the tent. It's honestly in my top five sets I've ever seen, it might even be number one. I'd always hoped I'd get a chance to see the Curtis brothers unite and catch them again, but I guess that's out of the picture at this point.

And of course, my complaints are completely meaningless compared to the day you've had today, Drewski. Sending some good vibes your way.

Yes! I remember that show. They were great. I think that was the 2nd time I had seen them, the first I'm pretty sure was a year or two earlier at Detroit bar. Man, it really is a bummer to know we probably won't be able to ever see another SVIIB show. He was talented. My heart goes out to his family.
