Would it even be possible to find a bigger band to headline? I think this would be amazing. I remember the balcony at the Universal shaking so hard it would collapse. After they played, they would have to plow over the field and plant another one.

Oooh.. they could be part of Ringo's All Star Band!!!!

Then they wouldn't even have to wait for the end of the set to plow over the field.

They just sold 100,000+ tix in So Cal in 2009. They are venturing into U2 size popularity, around here at least.

This is the only user name I have ever had on this forum.

And No Doubt is one of my all time favorite live bands. Not sure why they haven't played yet, Goldenvoice used to give them slots on small theatre shows all the time before they broke.

So you are trying to claim they are getting as big as U2, but can only come to that conclusion based on where you are currently located?

No Doubt isn't all that relevant on a national or worldwide level anymore.

That said, they are still a big name and would create a lot of nostalgia for people in their mid/late 20's/early 30's.

So yeah, hypothetically speaking, they are a subheadliner on a good Coachella lineup. On a Jack johnson / Killers type of day they MIGHT be a headliner.

No Doubt would be a huge draw at a SoCal festival... a festival such a Brochella.

Luckily this festival does not exist.

I'm a fan and have seen then. They could headline Coachella, but they would be on the "poppy" side of the spectrum along with Killers, Jack J and Coldplay.

BTW, they did do Warped tour back in the day and Gwen used to duet onstage with Sublime many times. ND have also had some killer opening acts over the years.

They are supposed to be far along with making an album, but I don't see it on the horizon for the first half of this year.

No Doubt may fall on the poppy-side of things but they ALWAYS kill it live. I've seen them twice, once in 1997 with The Vandals and CIV and in 2006 with Blink 182 and The Used. Both times they were amazing and are very genuine. They don't come off as cheesy or scripted and always throw in a few good covers. Last tour they did some Adam Ant and Human League covers which were quite interesting.

Keep up with what? Your distorted view of No Doubt's place in modern music? Saying they are as big as U2 anywhere is a joke and I am not even a fan of U2. That's you trying to hype up a band you like more than they really deserve. You can't draw a comparison like that because you can't get to U2 status without garnering consistent, long-term success worldwide.

I live In Arizona which - *gasp* - is really close to the festival too and I can tell you that no one gives a shit about No Doubt here or anywhere else I have been for the past 10+ years. Bands that are only big regionally do not headline music festivals that have a GOOD lineup.

Honestly as far as pop divas go, I find Gwen Stefani more tolerable than most (except for that fucking Holler Back girl song). Also, Hella Good is a great song. I would be down to peep their set.

i've seen them here and there over the past 20+ years. The show i saw in 2009 had them in top form. After seeing that and considering they are one of the most succesful bands to come out of the Southern California area ever, if they were to play, nothing less than headlining. They would be a huge draw.

4 nights at Irvine Meadows, 3 at Universal Amphitheatre, 2 in Chula Vista (and who the hell does 2 shows down there these days?) plus Bakersfield and Fresno. That's like 130,000 tickets in the southern half of the state.

Specials in England, Sex Pistols in England, Faith No More in England, Europe, Australia, South America.

So 11 shows to get to 130,000 in the southern half of the state in which they are from. Cool story.

Anyway, No Doubt would probably sellout a tour after releasing their first album in 10 years. I do recognize their mainstream popularity, but their music became very tiresome after Tragic Kingdom (and I never really liked that album much either) and I don't know many people who really care about them anymore. Making the U2comparison is just ridiculous and your Specials, Sex Pistols, FNM comparisons aren't really doing much to prove your point at all.

They would headline Coachella on a day where the upper-tier acts are weak (i.e., Jack Johnson in 2008 and The Killers in 2009). On a day where a there is a strong card, they are a second-line sub.

Keep in mind, I still think they suck, but I am willing to admit they have a popular place in music. I just believe there are better options out there that have been mentioned and luckily, if No Doubt were to play, there are other options I could choose from.
