Boys Noize prepping live show for 2011

Despite an abiding love of Australia in summer, Boys Noize won’t be hanging around for a holiday after his Summadayze shows. Speaking to inthemix from his home on a bleary Berlin morning, the electro maestro explained why he’s jetting back to Germany “the day after” his last gig.

“This time I have to be back in Europe because I’m working on a live show,” the DJ, producer and label boss enthused. “There’s an opportunity for me to present it worldwide on a big festival next year, so that’s my big goal.”

Just what worldwide festival that will be ( Creamfields? Global Gathering?) is anyone’s guess, but there’s certainly enough in the Boys Noize arsenal to fuel a riotous live show. “I’m getting a bit nervous because I have no partner for this one, I have to do it all on my own,” he went on. “But it’s important for me to concentrate on that. That’s why I’m also taking no shows until April next year, so the Australian dates are just an exception.”

My prediction is that it'll be a dodecahedron.
That's a lot of sharp edges.

If this set happens I'll give it a shot, but in all honesty last time I saw him, it was good, but not mindblowing. Hopefully Sahara magic will prevail.

Could be talking about Ultra, considering he's already confirmed for that one.

Of course, I kind of doubt it. If he was debuting a big new live setup at Ultra I would have assumed he would have been billed higher than he is...

What needs to be accurate about this? I assume your wall is a fairly sized target which stands in a reasonable distance.

I think an aggressive throw should suffice.

It will be only Boys Noize tracks is one difference, not sure if he has a visual set up to go with it so not sure if lazers, lights and shapes really are something that is being added to this. Being as the article said he's doing this all by himself I'm not expecting a visual set up to come along with it, sort of like Deamau5 would always be live but barely got a visual set up to go with it this past year.

I'm surprised the crowd was SO into it. Throughout the weekend, I got the impression that the crowd didn't listen to a lot of EDM.

watching him mind melt about 10,000 people at EDC was a pretty good indication of how much he's grown since 08. and although he might not have the commercial appeal of deadmau5 or MSTRKRFT, he definitely dominates both in raw talent.

i'd bank on him headlining, or at the very least a 11pm-midnight slot (assuming coache11a will end at 1am again)

Do you think he will be using Ableton or some other machinery instead of the CDJs?

Ableton will most likely be incorporated into his set up but I would imagine he's bringing more equipment since he's declaring it "live".

It will probably be something like Deadmua5's live equipment...

You say it as if there is only one Sahara headliner the entire weekend. He may not be up there with the Chemical Brothers and Underworlds of the scene, but he can definitely fill up one of the nights. I'd put him slightly ahead of MSTRKRFT and 2manydjs in terms of popularity, and way ahead of them in terms of quality.

Because it typically does involve some crazy set up. But, as you said earlier, it more specifically means that the artist will be playing their own tracks exclusively. And that is okay with me.

The guy knows his way around CDJs to say the least. I'd be more than interested to see what he brings to the table as a "live" set. Be careful with your expectations, though. SebastiAn debuted his first "live" show at Sonar in 2009, there was a decent amount of hype around that, yet the guy has never since been billed as a "live" act. Wonder what happened with that...

ghostland was one of the best shows of the weekend, but shame on you for skipping out on paul. 2:30 hours of magic. i sprinted over to the sahara during 'band on the run' looked in to the tent, and then got concerned i'd miss one of the greatest songs of all time for a group i'd have the chance to see numerous times again. never worried for a second that i didn't make the right decision.

No joke, Friday 2009 in the Sahara was a joke. But there were other awesomely worthwhile things to do that day.

Boys Noize 2008 was just unfair and ridiculous when it came to the energy and amazing. I've never seen a 4pm Sahara set go off that hard.

And Boys Noize live at around 9 or 10 this year, any date, would be ridiculously awesome.

"Live act" aka monomachine and Mac
I would be quite surprised if he brought out his Juno 106
or something

Would be nice to actually get a real live act booked

not sure why someone would even need to ask this question. I mean, if you were there and saw him on stage it was clear it was a DJ set. The fact that he's talking about developing a live show and debut it at a future date would indicate anything you saw in the past was a dj set.

so yeah... it was a DJ set.

Honestly, he played so many of his own tracks it was hard for me to tell. That and I didn't really get close enough to see what... equipment he was using. But you answered my question, thanks.

Seriously the Brother tore it up at the Hollywood bowl and all I was thinking was Coachella next year. I was also thinking Paul T was at the show waiting for the chance to book em, but that could have been the acid.

I just came across his set at Electric Zoo. I'll report back after I give it a listen.

I quite enjoyed him at Voodoo, but it was in the middle of the day and the crowd in my area sucked. If I had been up front and/or it had been at night I think I would have loved it

I very much want to see him again though, he's awesome and getting better and bigger

aoki, ting tings, crystal castles and girl talk is an abomination.
i agree.. i was in line to get some alc. (across from the sahara tent) while the ting tings were playing and I over heard this girl say to her friend "that disco band with the girl singing. They sound like shit" and the other girl says back "i know... I think it's AQUA" i lolz.

I would rather see Digitalism live or the Prodigy or Leftfield. Or even an afternoon session with Bent.

So what the fuck? Is this actually happening? Because, having seen Boys Noize a few times, whether or not it's this purported new "live" show is a big deal here.

I think based off the "not playing again until debuting the live show at a worldwide festival" comment, that it's a pretty safe bet Coachella is the worldwide festival for the live show.
