Anyone think they might have a classic rock act headline or co-headline for 2011? If so, then who?

Santana - One of the greatest guitar players alive
Tom Petty - I know he's been mentioned before, maybe this is the year
The Eagles - They did just do Austin City Limits
Neil Young - Another mentioned favorite
Dire Straits - More wishful thinking than an actual possibility, but this would be one hell of a reunion

This. Don Henley would get a much more violent treatment.

Tom Petty would be absolutely amazing, I've been predicting him from the start. Hope it happens...

Petty and Santana are Bonnaroo acts, as is Uncle Neil, however, Neil is the only one i could see at Coachella...

oh and i'd love to see Dire Straits. Brothers in Arms would be INCREDIBLE live.

Santana has an exclusive residency deal with the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. The deal includes the terms that Santana does not play any concerts west of the Mississippi.

The Eagles and Tom Petty would accept nothing less than headliner status and would be very expensive to book-also both are signed to Livenation, unlikely Livenation would let them play for a rival. The Eagles would be a poor mis-step for GV.

but AEG Live runs the Joint at Hard Rock...

and Jay-Z has a mega LN contract, so that theory is out the window...

I would strongly support Dire Straits or Neil Young.

Tom Petty or Santana would be ok I guess

Fuck the Eagles.

Dire Straits

What album/s would you suggest as a starting point for them?

Doesn't matter! The Hard Rock Hotel and casino paid a lot of money for an exclusive engagement deal. You don't get an exclusive residency and let them play festivals. The fact that AEG runs the Joint makes no sense, you may as well say Santana can play any AEG venue in California. Think about what exclusive contract means.

Yes Jay-Z has a contract for live dates with Livenation, TPATH and Eagles have full all-in agreements that cover live dates, merch, fan club etc. Jay-z was able to sell tickets through his own fan club and Music Today. TPATH and Eagles have everything with Livenation.

Brothers in Arms.

Definitely not Brothers In Arms. In my opinion, it'd be better to get a more broad view of what the band did, as Brother In Arms was an album that, while good, isn't a good representation of the band's sound and doesn't sound like anything that came before or after it.

My personal favorite is their self-titled debut, but Communique is nearly as flawless. Check those out first before getting to Brother In Arms.

/rant that you guys are all going to disagree with ;)

Dire Straits would be so amazing to see live at Coachella. Mark Knopfler is such a great guitar player.

One of the most underrated guitar players ever. I never saw Dire Straits but I saw Knopfler at the Greek in LA back in like '01 and his skills were even more fucking insane than you hear on the albums.

I know it was brought up on the boards a little while ago, but I haven't seen a ton of Robert Plant buzz. I know he's touring the East Coast in the early part of the year ending in March and has 0 West Coast dates as of now. I think he'd make a good sub or first third-liner.

A Foreigner reunion with Lou Gramm would be awesome! I could definitely see them doing a mainstage sub-headline set.

Styx with Dennis De Young.

They kinda lost me around Mr Roboto but being one of the all-time greats they are allowed one mediocre song.

I saw Foreigner this summer with ZERO original members. I've never been so disappointed with a concert in my entire life. Come on, Mick and Lou, let bygones be bygones and do it for the kids one more time!

Fleetwood Motherfucking Mac. I cannot think of another classic rock band that isn't either completely implausible or completely pathetic.

Singer is doing a spoken word/book tour in the early spring.

How about Brian Johnstone filling the Henry Rollins spot, but filled with all the Brits and Australians?
