I keep hearing their name mentioned... figured I'd make a thread. I saw them a couple months ago and they were fantastic. They finished recording their new album here and will be touring in the spring... figure it's a given they'll be on the polo fields.

I love Devotchka!! I first saw them in like 2002 at this Burlesque show at the Marquee. And then in 2008, during the tragic incident on the Polo Fields that kept me and Ivy from seeing Portishead. Their set was awesome though, even if it did lead to my grievous bodily injury.

I absolutely love DeVotchka. Really looking forward to the new album. Can't wait to see them in March. And although I'm probably not going to Coachella (heart-crushing), I hope they are there and give a hell of a performance.

really like the new song.

clumsy, if you aren't attending the coachella, are you still running the set times prediction?

lol..
if I KNOW that I'm not going, then I will probably (begrudgingly) pass it over to someone else.. I love set time predictions though! I don't wanna let it go! and I still want to go to Coachella. But my friends aren't going this year. Anyone in Portland wanna let me tag along?

But I should start a poll, and see who should be worthy of running the predictions this year. haha..

I'll be looking for a person or two to tag along from Portland, OR. Keep in touch and we'll work something out.

They're a lesser/not as good version of Grizzly Bear imo.

You have said some wack things - but this one is up there.

Grizzly Bear!?!?

If you think DeVotchKa sound like Grizzly Bear, it is obvious you haven't listened to one of those two bands.

Years Active -

DeVotchKa - 1997-Present
Grizzly Bear - 2004-Present

I am developing an advance stylistic appropriation of a band that is going to be really big ten years from now. I hope you can forgive me.

Perfect. You'd be leaving their set 5 minutes early, in time to get a good spot for some band on a different stage.

I couldn't help thinking that if Devotchka pulled out the whatever-you-call-the-girl-doing-acrobatic-stuff for their daytime show on the outdoor, they might pull out something else for a (hopefully) nighttime set.

I was unaware Devotchka did this. No acrobatics when I saw them two months ago.

They're playing a Valentine's Day show/cd release here in Denver. I'm really looking forward to it.

They don't always have dancers.

I've seen GB live twice and i've owned all of the DeVotchKa albums for over five years now.

I know my shit.

Youre just kinda dumb. It's not a completely damning trait, just very unfortunate in an argument/general life.

Alright, if you want to make this about my intellectual level lets compare:

-I'm more educated than 95% of you guys
-My IQ level is higher than 99% of you guys
-My musical knowledge is higher than 80% of you guys

I wasn't the one who brought this up. Suck it.

If you want this to hold up then I'd suggest you abandon this argument, like now.

I heard you had a bunch of classes with Johnny Appleseed and Paul Bunyan was your favorite professor. In your spare time, you listened to vinyl with Davy Crockett and jammed with Pecos Bill in a garage band.

I love DeVotchka. I saw them in SF at the Fillmore and again as an opener for David Byrne(talking heads). The Fillmore show was SOOOOOO awesome! Nick Urata's voice sounds better live! The visuals were SICK! I was not that familiar with them and went with a friend. She said they were the back up back for a burlesque dancer that was married to Marilyn Manson, hahahaha. sorted story Of course, that is interesting....so I went and was BLOWN away! They were on my secret wish list - I saw this thread and it just made my day!

happy that they're putting out new music (the new jam is great, thx for posting) and touring.

and, rasooli...your music knowledge is surpassed only by your advanced social skills. next time you go on pumping yourself, make sure to point out your superiority in this realm....it's a list-topper!

come on now....you guys were the ones who started this rift. My recent post was in response to all the shit I got from the board. Don't put this shit on me.
