Morcheeba is playing a march date in LA. Does this mean they are no longer a possibility for Coachella since it's so close to april or could they be a good possibility for the lineup?

That "LA exclusivity" rule generally doesn't apply to bands that no one has ever heard of.

No one has heard of Morcheeba?

They are a type of cajon potato chips.

...and yes, if Jamiroquai isn't a lock, bring her and the band.

Morcheeba sounds like an extra large house special at Cheeba Hut.

Someone doesn't know trip hop well.

Granted, it's not the best trip hop.

I'm not against it; I'm simply pointing out that they really don't follow that "exclusivity" thing for smallish bands with the same zeal that they do for bigger ones.

ehhh... for people who were really into that genre of music they are a pretty big name, though im not sure how often they even perform.

I wouldn't say it rules them out, Jay-Z is a good example of why it doesn't. He finished his tour in March at the Staples Center and then came back for the one-off performance at Coachella.

The staples march show was booked the previous summer, before Coachella locked him down. Then there's the issue of Jay-z being an exclusive Live Nation act playing a "sloppy seconds"(in LN's eyes in that market for that act) festival done by another promoter.

IMO, this march show puts Morcheeba in the "unlikely playing" catagory.

not my favorite band, but they are pretty good. Probally wouldn't check them out at coachella though. Espcially if there was any kind of conflict

AEG owns Staples Center where Jay-Z's march show was, AEG also owns Goldenvoice. I forget where I read it but I could have swore I read that him doing the show at Staples Center and the show at Coachella were part of the same contract.

Whaaaaaaa?

I think they'd be a good fit. I'll admit that I didn't know they were still doing anything together.

They are playing the Fonda which is a medium size GV venue.

Morcheeba is in no way an obscure act.

They're also not anything above the 4th line of the line-up, which was what Jen was getting at with regards to dismissing "LA exclusivity" ruling them out of playing Coachella.
