But no, it won't happen, not this year at least.

I once saw System open for Primus in Las Vegas way back in 1996. It was bizarre and Serj looked like a nerdy Zack De La Rocha. I couldn't appreciated at the time but now I would love to see SOAD live.

SOAD at Coachella would make me very happy.

But question if they did reunite how big would their following be?
Would they perform at The Music Box? Palladium? Staples?

I actually think there is a decent chance of System happening. We all know Coachella gets reuinions and they haven't played in 4-5 years. Plus Serj Tankian and Scars on Broadway have both played at Coachella.

And I do not really see Rage having too much more artistic integrity than SOAD. I like Rage, maybe even better, but let's face it every Rage song is basically the same thing. SOAD has a little more diversity.

I would like to see SOAD there, but I bet they would have to be a sub.

Phantasma Del Mar

I just meant Rage has more merit when it comes to playing something like Coachella. They're an important band and to a lot of people they represent the common man fighting against an oppressive government. Whether or not you agree with that or think RATM is being hypocritical or what, they're still held in a much higher light than System Of A Down.

I mean whenever people think of SOAD they remember Ariels or shit like "THE LONELIEST DAY OF MY LIFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE".

That's fuckin' ridiculous.
Well, it's less ridiculous now that I think about it, but I'll still say that SOAD's first two albums are better than Rage's.
Serj should have kept writing all the lyrics though... There are some songs on Scars on Broadway that are, lyrically, a joke.

If SOAD were a third/fourth line act, they would be great as a late night Outdoor band at Coachella. As it stands though, if SOAD were to play Coachella, he would have to headline. And Jack Johnson shouldn't be too surprising of a choice to headline Coachella. SOAD on the other hand, would be quite surprising.

SOAD may not be as huge now as they were in say 2006 but regardless of that, they were fuckin' huge! A reunion tour could have many festivals chompin' at the bit.... I think they would be an awesome ending to a fantastic Coachella Friday night. I definitely see them more as a Bonnaroo headliner though.

If they didn't headline Coachella who would come after them? It would have to be someone more rowdy, louder and with even crazier fans to beat up the ones holding down their place after a grueling SOAD show. Gnarly fans for SOAD...

This is why I like Coachella, I don't want to keep seeing Beestie Boys, or RHCP, or Gorrillaz headline this every year. That shit is boring, keep it fresh and try something new, if it is still only 3 day passes do you think the idiots are gonna come out for just 1 band? 'Ozzfest bands' and 'Coachella bands' are not mutually exclusive - ever heard of Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Coheed & Cambria, Tool? It's somewhat silly when people insist the likes of System Of A Down (who have headlined Ozzfest) belong only at whateverthefuckfest when it was a band like Tool, who was there headlining the very first Coachella, also happened to play at Ozzfest two years before in 97 (and since then has played Ozzfest in Europe as well). Furthermore, if Tool was detrimental to Coachella's credibility they wouldn't have been invited to play again in 06. They'll probably be the festival's first 3-time headliner, and guess what? Coachella won't be going anywhere soon thereafter either.

In any case, SOAD would headline if they played at Coachella; it's not a matter of whether they're 'big enough'. For whatever reason though, I don't see it happening, not this year at least.

I personally don't see system playing at coachella. They could sell out a comeback gig in la on their own. I'm definitely down to see them though so call me a hopeful skeptic.
