Could it be, just maybe, that Coachella's demographic only believes that it is informed and cultured but in reality has no idea about what is happening in serious music?

duh.

When has any orchestra performed any kind of symphonic work at our diverse Coachella?

How many orchestras do you know that want to travel hundreds of miles to the middle of nowhere to set up outside in the desert without the proper acoustics and play a 50 minute set?

I don't think anyone is claiming to be cultured.

Very rare you can get a orchestra at a music festival. Glastonbury manages the town band, but I am unaware of Indio having a professional orchestra. Otherwise it would mean an orchestra travelling from San Diego or LA. Given a full sized orchestra is 100 people and more, it is not really viable to set one up for a one hour set in the desert. It takes about an hour to tune-up.
I don't think it is Coachella's objective to promote musical diversity, otherwise we would have to have Polish Polka bands, Japanese pop et al.

There's the Riverside County Philharmonic. They set up outside, in a 30X30 tent and played a couple songs at Fairmount Park. That's probably they best we're gunna get.

Clearly, since half of those on that stage didn't make it to Coachella.

I was hoping this was in reference to Coachella implementing some kind of affirmative action program for ticket sales from here on out.

It would be a lot more fun with more black people there.

I'm just worried it would exclude more qualified white festival goers.

yeah, more black people would be dope. Black girls, specifically.

first of all, coachella would be a terrible environment for symphonic music. Terrible acoustics, loud fans, and the other stages would render the music completely inaudible. secondly, who is to say what qualifies music as serious?
